| Abstract: | Shape optimization of arch dams is complex and nonlinear, for which many conventional optimum methods have disadvantages. Genetic algorithm (GA) has high search effectiveness on the whole range. In this paper, a GA based on float encoding is presented and applied to optimization of arch dams. The results of an engineering case obtained by GA have an advantage over that by Serial Quadratic Programming (SQP). |
