Migration of chloride ion in tobacco-planting soil with different textures its accumulation in tobacco plants

Abstract:  Background  In view of the high content of chloride ion in tobacco leaves planted in Henan, the migration of chloride ions in tobacco-planting soil with different textures and itsaccumulation in tobacco plants were studied.  Methods  By selecting the tobacco-planting soils with two different textures, sandy soil and clay, and supplementing different amounts of chlorine in the plough layer, the chlorine content and chlorine accumulation of tobacco plants in different soil layers at different stages were studied.  Results  1) The migration rate of chloride ion was the fastest in the 0~40 cm soil layer, but slowed down in the deep soil, and the migration ability of chloride ion to the deep soil in sandy soil was higher than that in clay soil. 2) With the increase of transplanting days, the total plant chlorine accumulation increased linearly, and the distribution of chlorine accumulation in the root increased at first and then decreased with the transplanting time. The distribution law of chlorine accumulation in leaves was opposite to that in roots. 3) At 100 days after transplanting, for sandy soil and clay soil, the chlorine accumulation of tobacco plant was ranked as leaf > stem > root, the ratio of total chlorine accumulate in root, stem and leaf was 1:1.80:6.62 and 1:1.90:7.10, respectively. The ratio of chlorine accumulation in foot leaf, lower leaf, middle leaf and upper leaf was about 1.93:2.13:1.19:1 and 1:2.14:2.14:1.86, respectively. The proportion of chlorine accumulation in stem bark and stem pulp was about 1:6.19 and 1:5.78, respectively.  Conclusion  The clay soil had a higher adsorption capacity of chlorine ions than sand soil. The accumulation of chlorine in leaves was much higher than that in roots and stems, and the accumulation capacity of chlorine in leaves increased linearly with the increase of soil chlorine content. Clay soil could promote the accumulation of chlorine to the top of tobacco plant. Sand soil was more preferred for reducing chlorine content in tobacco leaves.
