Chinese Gas Providers Boost Output and Imports to Ease Shortage

China's top economic planner, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), has recently urged major natural gas providers to further increase production and seek imports to ease the gas shortage occurring in many large cities around the country. Although previous efforts to boost gas supply has ensured residential demand, it would be difficult to fundamentally ease the shortage in the short term, the NDRC said in an urgent notice released in late November to three major gas providers-the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec) and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC).     

Operational Regions of CNPC and Sinopec

In accordance with the decision made by the Chinese Government, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec) were restructured into two conglomerates in May 1998, each with integration of upstream and downstream businesses, integration of domestic and foreign trade and integration of production supply and marketing.     

CAOHC RESTRUCTURE AVIATION OIL CORPORATION WITH BIG-TWO OIL GIANTS

CNPC Successfully Acquires Kazak Oil Company China National Petroleum Corporation （CNPC） has recently announced that it successfully acquired PetroKazakhstan （PK）, a Kazak oil company headquartered in Canada. CNPC Invests Heavily in Refineries in Remote Areas

China National Petroleum building an 8.2-billion-yuan Corporation （CNPC）, began （US$1.2 billion） refinery in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in late-September to reinforce the supplies of oil products in northwest China. The project will have an annual refining capacity of 5 million tons. Scheduled to come on stream at the end of 2010, this project includes 10 units and auxiliary facilities, such as a 5-million-ton atmospheric distillation unit, a 2.6-million-ton catalytic cracker, a 900,000-ton continuous reforming unit and 100,000-ton polypropylene unit.     

HQCEC Facing New Opportunity for Development

CNPC Sees Crude and Natural Gas Production Rising Steadily
