My Head Controls My Computer: Computer Access With Cerebral Palsy

A single-switch scanning communicator was devised to provide computer access for an individual severely affected by cerebral palsy. A keyboard adaptor was provided such that either the keyboard or communicator can provide the total user interface to an Apple II + computer. With a suitable modern and control program, the communicator/personal computer is a terminal that can be connected to a Mainframe computer. This system is used by a Boston University student.

In this paper, we describe how a Perkins Brailler can be adapted so that it can function as a keyboard to a personal computer. The paper describes the earlier work of others and the hardware and software of our system and concludes with indications of how the system may be improved.     

Computer control using human intracortical local field potentials

We describe the use of human cortical control signals to operate two assistive technology tools--a virtual keyboard speller and a computer-simulated digit. The cortical signals used for control are local field potentials recorded through an implanted neurotrophic electrode. In this system, the patients' cortical signals are transmitted wirelessly to a receiver and translated by computer software into either a computer cursor movement (for the virtual keyboard) or flexion of a cyber digit on a virtual hand. This report focuses on the progress of two subjects toward effective use of their "virtual" neuro-prosthetic devices to meet their assistive technology needs.

Keyboard encryption

Network security is a never ending battle between the system design engineers and the computer hackers. In an effort to keep the hackers out, engineers have developed an impressive array of encryption algorithms, authentication protocols, and intrusion detection systems. Not to be outdone, the hackers have developed equally impressive ways around the arsenal of security protecting our most sensitive computer networks (as the attacks on many commercial web sites have clearly shown). However, both groups have continued to overlook one of the most vulnerable links in every computer network: the client's keyboard.

本文从微机系统中矩阵式键盘的工作原理出发，以基于SIEMENS S7-200PLC的3行3列键盘的设计过程为例，提出了一种在PLC系统中利用输入输出点设计矩阵式键盘的一般方法。     

The new design of an infrared-controlled human-computer interface for the disabled.

This paper reports on the development of an eyeglass- type infrared (IR)-controlled computer interface for the disabled. This system may serve to assist those who suffer from spinal cord injuries or other handicaps to operate a computer. This system is comprised of three major components: 1) an infrared transmitting module, 2) an infrared receiving/signal-processing module, and 3) a main controller, the Intel-8951 microprocessor. The infrared transmitting module utilizes tongue-touch circuitry which is converted to an infrared beam and a low power laser (<0.1 mW) beam. The infrared receiving/signal-processing module, receives the infrared beam and fine tunes the unstable infrared beam into standard pulses which are used as control signals. The main controller is responsible for detecting the input signals from the infrared receiving/signal-processing module and verifying these signals with the mapping table in its memory. After the signal is verified, it is released to control the keys of the computer keyboard and mouse interface. This design concept was mainly based on the idea that the use of an infrared remote module fastened to the eyeglasses could allow the convenient control of the input motion on the keys of a computer keyboard and mouse which are all modified with infrared receiving/signal-processing modules. The system is designed for individuals with spinal cord injuries and disabled in which the subjects' movement are severely restricted. The infrared transmitting module can be easily mounted on eyeglasses or artificial limbs.     

断路器综合在线监测系统研制

开发了一套断路器运行状态在线监测系统,能实现包括机械、绝缘、温升等多种断路器运行特性的综合监测。该系统采用上、下位机结构,下位机是一个基于96单片机的数据采集系统,并拥有简单的人机接口,硬件设计中采用了PSD器件,大大提高了软件维护的灵活性。基于任务调度的下位机软件结构,保证了系统的稳定性和实时性。上位机实现数据的存储、状态量的显示和波形的显示;上下位机之间采用485串行通讯总线进行通讯。     

基于PID控制算法的自动取暖控制器的设计

设计了一款自动取暖器控制器,主要应用增量式PID的处理方法,系统以单片机AT89S51作为主控芯片,结合外围的温度数据采集、A/D转换模块、键盘设定、LCD显示等电路模块。它能够实现使自动取暖器可以按照用户的需求设置加热的温度值,当达到设定的温度值时,该控制器自动断电;可以按照用户的需要设定取暖器的启动时间和停止时间;可以在手动控制或者是预先设定的自动控制模式下工作。重点介绍了硬件电路的设计与工作原理以及软件的结构和实现。
