Crete and Rhodes represent the two biggest isolated power systems in Greece. The energy production in both islands is based on thermal power plants. The annual wind energy rejection percentage is calculated for Crete and Rhodes in this paper. The rejected wind energy is defined as the electric energy produced by the wind turbines and not absorbed by the utility network, mainly due to power production system's stability and dynamic security reasons. A parametric calculation of the annual wind energy rejection percentage, in terms of the installed wind power, the power demand and the maximum allowed wind power instant penetration percentage, is accomplished. The methodology takes into account (i) the wind power penetration probability, restricted by the thermal generators technical minima and the maximum allowed wind power instant penetration percentage over the instant power demand; and (ii) the wind power production probability, derived by the islands' wind potential. The present paper indicates that isolated power systems which are based on thermal power plants have a limited wind power installation capacity—in order to achieve and maintain an adequate level of system stability. For a maximum wind power instant penetration percentage of 30% of the power demand, in order to ensure an annual wind energy rejection percentage less than 10%, the total installed wind power should not exceed the 40% of the mean annual power demand. The results of this paper are applicable to medium and great size isolated power systems, with particular features: (i) the power production is based on thermal power plants; (ii) the power demand exhibits intensive seasonal variations and is uncorrelated to the wind data; (iii) the mean annual power demand is greater than 10MW; and (iv) a high wind potential, presenting mean annual wind velocity values greater than 7·5ms?1, is recorded. The energy potential of wind for the eastern region of Saudi Arabia is investigated based on measurements of a complete year data at a coastal location in eastern Saudi Arabia. A suitable Weibull distribution is generated and a comparison of this model is made with the Rayleigh distribution of wind power densities. Two horizontal‐axis type of wind energy conversion systems which operate at fixed rpm are considered for the determination of the extractable wind power, and a model of quadratic power output function is used between the cut‐in speed and rated speed. It is shown that small‐scale wind energy systems are suitable in the eastern part of Saudi Arabia for power generation and irrigation purposes. Copyright © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

To meet the national target of 29% for electricity production from renewable energy sources by 2020 in Greece, effective implementation of massive wind power installed capacity into the power supply system is required. In such a situation, the effective absorption of wind energy production is an important issue in a relatively small and weak power system such as that of Greece, which has limited existing interconnections with neighboring countries. The curtailment of wind power is sometimes necessary in autonomous systems with large wind energy penetration. The absorption or curtailment of wind power is strongly affected by the spatial dispersion of wind power installations. In the present paper, a methodology for estimating this effect is presented and applied for the power supply system of Greece. The method is based on probability theory, and makes use of wind forecasting models to represent the wind energy potential over any candidate area for future wind farm installations in the country. Moreover, technical constraints imposed by the power supply system management, the commitment of power plants and the load dispatch strategies are taken into account to maximize the wind energy penetration levels while ensuring reliable operation of the system. Representative wind power development scenarios are studied and evaluated. Results show that the spatial dispersion of wind power plants contributes beneficially to the wind energy penetration levels that can be accepted by the power system. Wind energy conversion system, aiming to convert mechanical energy of air flow into electrical energy has been widely concerned in recent decades. According to the installation sites, the wind energy conversion system can be divided into land-based wind conversion system and offshore wind energy conversion (OWEC) system. Compared to land-based wind energy technology, although OWEC started later, it has attracted more attentions due to its significant advantages in sufficient wind energy, low wind shear, high power output and low land occupancy rate. In this paper, the principle of wind energy conversion and the development status of offshore wind power in the world are briefly introduced at first. And then, the advantages and disadvantages of several offshore wind energy device (OWED), such as horizontal axis OWED, vertical axis OWED and cross axis OWED are compared. Subsequently, several major constraints, such as complex marine environment, deep-sea power transmission and expensive cost of equipment installation faced by offshore wind conversion technology are presented and comprehensively analysed. Finally, based on the summary and analysis of some emerging technologies and the current situation of offshore wind energy utilization, the development trend of offshore wind power is envisioned. In the future, it is expected to witness multi-energy complementary, key component optimization and intelligent control strategy for smooth energy generation of offshore wind power systems.  相似文献

Wind energy is considered to be a very promising alternative for power generation because of its tremendous environmental, social, and economic benefits. Electrical power generation from wind energy behaves quite differently from that of conventional sources. The fundamentally different operating characteristics of those facilities, therefore, affect the power system reliability in a manner different from that of the conventional systems. This paper is focused on the development of suitable models for wind energy conversion systems, in adequacy assessments of generating systems, using wind energy. These analytical models can be used in the conventional generating system adequacy assessment utilizing analytical or Monte Carlo state-sampling techniques. This paper shows that a five-state wind energy conversion system model can be used to provide a reasonable assessment of the practical power system adequacy studies, using an analytical method, or a state-sampling simulation approach.  相似文献

Wind power is an important renewable energy resource. Electrical power generation from wind energy behaves quite differently from that of conventional sources, and maintaining a reliable power supply is an important issue in power systems containing wind energy. In these systems, the wind speeds at different wind sites are correlated to some degree if the distances between the sites are not very large. Genetic algorithm methods are applied here to adjust autoregressive moving-average time series models in order to simulate correlated hourly wind speeds with specified wind speed cross-correlation coefficients of two wind sites. Multi-state wind energy conversion system models are used to incorporate the correlated wind farms in reliability studies of generating systems. A method to generate random numbers with specified correlation coefficients for application in a state-sampling Monte Carlo simulation technique is introduced. It is shown that the proposed method can be used in the adequacy assessment of a generating system incorporating partially dependent wind farms.  相似文献

风能等新能源发电系统在供电体系中的占比越来越大,但其随机性和波动性问题,将风力发电厂输出的电力直接向电网调度会造成安全隐患。为了解决这一问题,基于电池储能系统提出了一种风能发电智能调度技术,该技术以风力发电动力学模型和电池储能系统状态模型为基础,利用双重扩展卡尔曼滤波算法实现了风能发电系统的稳定输出。以某地风速实测数据和电网需求功率为参考,对不同算法的输出功率预测值进行了仿真分析和实验对比。结果表明:提出的改进算法预测的风速值误差相比于传感器观测值平均误差降低了28%以上,可以更准确地提供发电系统输出功率;提出的智能调度技术可以使电压波动幅度降低60%以上,系统整体输出功率稳定在参考功率附近,误差不超过2%,有一定的实用意义。  相似文献

Recently, the concept of wind power plant has been introduced as a result of the increment of wind power penetration in power systems. A wind power plant can be defined as a wind farm, which is expected to behave similar to a conventional power plant in terms of power generation, control and ancillary services. Transmission system operators are requiring wind power generation to help to power system with some ancillary services such as fault ride through or power system stabilizer capability. Therefore, it is important to study the power system stabilizer capability of wind power plants. In this paper, a comparison of various power system stabilizer schemes is presented. The effect of the distance from the tie line to the wind farm on the controller response and the influence of wind power plants proximity to synchronous generators are also evaluated. These studies show that wind power plants have promising power system stabilizer capability even using local input signals. Output power fluctuation of high penetration of wind power causes demand and supply imbalance in electric power systems and results in frequency deviation if the fluctuation is not fully compensated by other regulable power plants. In Japan, some electric utilities have started to accept only the wind farms which disconnect and give up generating power during light‐load periods with less adjustable reserve. Otherwise, wind farms are required to employ battery energy storage systems (BESSs) to charge the generated power during the light‐load periods. Instead of these uneconomical solutions, this paper proposes autonomous frequency regulation by controllable loads such as electric water heaters (EWHs). In the paper, the acceptable increase of wind power generation by the proposed load control has been evaluated quantitatively in the power system of the Hokkaido Island in Japan. The result indicates that the acceptable increase of wind power generation goes from 250 to 675 MW by applying the proposed autonomous frequency regulation on all EWHs, and the total cost to implement the autonomous frequency regulation on the EWHs is around 1/26 compared with a solution using BESSs. 随着风电等新能源大规模并网,其出力的不确定性给电力系统日前调度带来很大挑战。传统的研究方法多是假设风电功率预测误差服从某种概率分布,但风电功率预测误差受到多种因素影响,概率分布模型无法准确描述其特性。为此,采用基于神经网络的组合预测方法对风电功率误差进行建模,再将预测的风电误差加入到包含热电机组、火电机组、风电、储热装置和电锅炉的热电联合优化调度模型中,最后以实际的10机系统为例进行仿真,分析了风电预测误差对机组出力、风电消纳及调度成本的影响。结果表明,与传统方法相比,所建模型可减少机组燃煤成本与旋转备用成本,降低了经济调度成本,提高了风电消纳水平。  相似文献

储能系统由于能够实现电能的时空平移,具有响应速度快,规模化等优点,是改善风电波动性,提高其并网能力的有效手段,构建风储联合发电系统成为目前研究重点.简单介绍了风电并网对电力系统的影响及不同类型电池储能技术的发展现状,给出了部分国内外风储联合发电系统的示范工程,并分析了平滑风电功率波动,跟踪计划出力曲线和削峰填谷3种主要运行方式,重点阐述了目前风储联合发电系统控制策略和储能容量配置研究现状,对进一步开展风储联合发电系统的研究进行了展望,指出经济性仍然是制约储能技术应用的关键问题之一,提高包含储能单元的风储联合发电系统的经济性是今后的研究重点.  相似文献

Wind power is becoming a large‐scale electricity generation technology in a number of European countries, including the Netherlands. Owing to the variability and unpredictability of wind power production, large‐scale wind power can be foreseen to have large consequences for balancing generation and demand in power systems. As an essential aspect of the Dutch market design, participants are encouraged to act according to their energy programs, as submitted day‐ahead to the system operator. This program responsibility shifts the burden of balancing wind power away from the system operator to the market. However, the system operator remains the responsible party for balancing any generation/load imbalances that may still be arising in real time. In this article, features that are unique for the Dutch market design are presented and their implications on the system integration of wind power are investigated. It is shown that the Dutch market design penalizes the intermittent nature of wind power. A discussion of opportunities and threats of balancing wind power by use of market forces is provided. 我国风电发展迅速,计划2010年风电装机容量要达到3500×10^4kW,2020年达到1.5×10^8kW。据IEA预测,2030年世界能源供应仍以化石能源为主,其比重由2006年的80.8%下降到80.4%;2030年世界发电能源结构也以化石能源发电为主,其比重由2006年的74%下降到73%。中国到21世纪中叶传统化石能源仍将居绝对优势地位。因此在可再生能源和新能源的开发过程中,不要急于求成,片面追求能源和电源结构优化不可取。我国未来要依靠核电和新能源发电,但需要通过对其技术经济的进一步研究,才能确定主要靠核电还是风电、太阳能发电或生物质能发电。目前我国风电发展的主要问题是对风电的技术要求起点低,技术路线不对,从国外引进了落后的风电技术。为了我国风电的健康发展,必须加快风电合理利用的研究,包括风电储能和风电直接利用的研究。  相似文献

Studies have shown that the unpredictability and variability of wind power is reduced in systems with large numbers of geographically diverse wind plants. These effects are caused by the decreased correlation of power output between wind plants as their separation and diversity in terrain increases. One way that system operators have increased geographic diversity is by enlarging balancing areas through the physical or administrative connection of adjacent systems. This strategy can be extended from the regional level to the transcontinental level. As such, it is important to study the correlation and statistical characteristics of aggregate wind power between large, distant systems. This paper analyzes multi‐year historical data from four North American system operators—Bonneville Power Administration, Electric Reliability Council of Texas, Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator and PJM—to see how effective transcontinental interconnection of systems is at enabling wind plant integration. The effects of separation and timescale on correlations of instantaneous and hourly variations are analyzed. The analysis is complemented by a study of a hypothetical transcontinental connection of the systems across yearly, monthly, daily and hourly timescales. The results show that correlations between large systems exhibit similar characteristics as the correlations between individual wind plants, but are somewhat larger in magnitude. The transcontinental system exhibits a close to normal distribution of power output and decreased variability, but there is still appreciable and statistically significant correlation at the longer timescales driven by seasonal and diurnal forcing, as well as synoptic weather systems. 对陕西省宝鸡市陇县金润河北镇风电场气象条件、风功率密度、平均风速、主导风向等风能参数进行分析评价。结果表明,测风塔100 m高度月平均风速、月平均风功率密度最大均出现在4月,最小均出现在8月;测风塔100 m高度主导风向为SSW(南西南),主要风能方向为SSW(南西南),风电场风功率密度等级为1级。风电场安装20台2500 kW的风电机组,装机容量50 MW,年设计发电量1.33485×108 kW·h,年出厂电量9.5426×107 kW·h。结果可为其他风电场选址和发电量估算提供参考。  相似文献
