With the ever-increasing demand for wireless real-time services and continuing emergence of new multimedia applications especially for mobile users, it is necessary for the network to support various levels of quality of service (QoS) while maximizing the utilization of scarce and expensive wireless channel resources. Considering this fact, a new TDMA/FDD MAC protocol integrating a novel QoS management algorithm and multi-beam Directional Antennas (DAs) to efficiently exploit wireless resources has been developed and presented in this paper. It supports all ATM CBR, VBR, ABR and UBR service classes by adopting a well-managed dynamic guarantee-based QoS scheduling algorithm. The work mainly aims at increasing the wireless system throughput as well as improving the call-blocking ratios and end-to-end delays for real-time applications. This seamless communication enables both handling real-time multimedia traffics in a fair manner and granting call requests on the basis of the connection types. The system has been developed, modeled and simulated using OPNET Modeler. The simulation results show that the QoS-aware TDMA/FDD MAC with multi-beam DAs has substantially increased the system throughput and that the call-blocking ratio has been reduced from 86% to 18%, when the proposed MAC with 8-Beam antennas is employed instead of the regular MAC.  相似文献

提出了一种单信道无线多跳网络同步媒体接入控制协议—M-TDMA。基于信道预约,协议采用分类调度机制以满足多媒体业务中各类业务的服务质量需求。协议采用信道使用列表(CUL)、预约控制时隙、划分竞争期和非竞争期等措施维护预约信道,降低分组冲突率,提高信道使用率。分析结果表明,协议在保证分组传输可靠性的同时,传输时延较低,能够较好地支持多媒体业务的服务质量需求。  相似文献

The IEEE 802.11e standard defines a set of quality of service (QoS) enhancements for wireless local area network (WLAN) applications such as voice and streaming multimedia traffic. In the standard, a new medium access control (MAC) protocol is called the hybrid coordinator function (HCF), and also a channel access scheme to transmit multimedia traffic is called the HCF controlled channel access (HCCA). In the IEEE 802.11e WLANs, to satisfy the stringent real-time constraints of multimedia services it is very important to provide an efficient method of allocating network resources. In this regard, we propose a feedback-assisted dynamic channel time allocation scheme considering the application layer information in order to achieve better performance of multimedia traffic over IEEE 802.11e HCCA under the constrained QoS requirements. Performance of the proposed scheme is investigated by simulation. Our results show that under typical channel error conditions, the proposed scheme is very effective regardless of the variation of station numbers and service intervals. Also, it yields high performances while guaranteeing the delay bound.  相似文献

A ubiquitous service deployment is emerging in the multimedia, networking, and wireless mobile computing area. Therefore, there has been an increasing demand for ubiquitous computing environments to support a certain degree of quality of service (QoS) to meet various service requirements from different computing and networking applications, and to better utilize the computing resources. However, supporting QoS in the ubiquitous computing environments has also raised great concerns regarding the applicability of any QoS solution. Management of such ubiquitous multimedia applications requires new mechanisms, i.e., Soft-QoS framework, to be developed for admission control, negotiation, allocation, and scheduling. In this paper, we present a novel negotiated admission control algorithm that exploits the degradability property of applications to improve the performance of the system. The algorithm is based on setting aside a portion of the resources as reserves and managing it intelligently, so that the total utility of the system can be maximized. The mixed greedy and predictive strategy leads to an efficient protocol that also improves the system performance. We use the constructs of application benefit functions and resource demand functions in the integrated admission control and negotiation protocol. We applied our Soft-QoS framework to the admission controlling and resource scheduling for ubiquitous multimedia devices such as Continuous Media (CM) or Video-On-Demand (VOD) servers, where multimedia applications can generally tolerate certain variations on QoS parameters by providing multiple classes with consistently proportional rather than absolute QoS. 比例公平调度算法应用于多媒体业务调度时,不能满足其多方面的服务质量(QoS)需求,尤其是当有业务的瞬时QoS参数值接近业务可忍受的QoS阈值时,该业务的调度优先级变化趋势不明显,使该业务不能被及时调度,降低了多媒体业务的通信质量。为此,在PF算法调度优先级判断表达式中引入QoS因子参数项,加强服务质量需求参数项对调度的影响,提出基于QoS效用函数的比例公平调度算法。实验结果证明,该算法可以迅速增加接近QoS阈值多媒体业务的调度机会,使VolP业务的平均延时降低44%、公平性提高3%。  相似文献

Several wireless networking solutions have been developed to provide different types of services for various end user applications. Currently, wireless networking infrastructures are not suitable for multimedia applications each requiring a different QoS support with various traffic parameters. Due to the success of ATM technology in the wired network, WATM concept and related researches are of importance in the information technology area. Main objective of WATM, which promises seamless transmission of different traffics such as voice, data and video over wireless medium, is to implement high bit rate and QoS guaranteed data transfer, already well achieved by ATM technology over wired medium. To support QoS guaranteed data transfer over error-prone and low bandwidth wireless medium, an effective MAC protocol must be designed and utilized. In this paper, a new TDMA/FDD based MAC protocol, maintaining QoS requirements of real-time wireless multimedia applications, is proposed. The main contribution of this study is the new guarantee-based scheduling algorithm used in the proposed MAC to support required level of QoS guarantee for all multimedia traffic types in wireless medium. Computer modeling and simulation of the new approach providing CBR, VBR, ABR and UBR ATM services are realized using OPNET Modeler. Simulation results are also presented together with comparisons those of a WATM counterpart which uses PRMA/DA MAC protocol.  相似文献

为了 最大化 多媒体无线信道资源分配的网络效用,提出了一种新的基于粒子群算法的信道时间分配算法。该算法能够优化分配给网络内每个设备的时间,以便为每位网络用户 提供最优化的服务质量(QoS)。所提算法结合了多样性增加函数以及基于个体最优值的学习方法,并基于自适应粒子群算法进行了改进,在持续增强QoS的同时加快了收敛速度。在多达40个设备的千兆网络环境内对所提算法进行了测试。实验结果表明,提出的算法能够大大提升资源分配能力,尤其是在网络规模较大的情况下。  相似文献

有效使用片上受限资源以保持最长的生命周期是无线传感器网络的核心问题.无线传感器网络不断增长的多媒体应用引发人们研究如何满足具体应用的服务质量约束.能量因素与QoS各参数的相互影响构成了一个NP完全问题.本文引入模糊数学理论中的区间数概念抽象现实网络提供的信息,利用排队论方法将多业务多类型QoS多参数的约束和目标简化,从而得到了一种满足多类型业务多参数QoS要求的路由算法.仿真实验结果表明,在满足多类型业务多参数QoS要求的前提下,本文算法能很好支持多种业务的资源需求分配,可达到全网最优能耗均衡,延长网络寿命.  相似文献

由于廉价的CMOS摄像头、麦克风的出现,以及对含有丰富信息的图像,视频和音频信息需求导致了无线多媒体传感器网络-(WMSN)的出现.WMSN具有资源有限、可变的信道容量、数据高度冗余等特点,使得WMSN的QoS路由具有极大的挑战性.提出了一种基于Mesh结构的WMSN,并在该结构体系下,提出了一种基于蚁群算法的QoS路由算法.实验研究表明,蚁群算法具有不依赖全局信息的优点,具有应用于WMSN的前景.实验同时表明,决定蚁群算法收敛速度以及会影响传感器网络性能的一些关键参数较难确定,需要进一步研究.  相似文献

This paper presents design, analysis, and implementation of a multiresource management system that enables criticality- and QoS-based resource negotiation and adaptation for mission-critical multimedia applications. With the goal of maximizing the number of high-criticality multimedia streams and the degree of their QoS, it introduces a dynamic scheduling approach using on-line QoS adjustment and multiresource preemption. An integrated multiresource management infrastructure and a set of scheduling algorithms for multiresource preemption and on-line QoS adjustment are presented. The optimality and execution efficiency of two preemption algorithms are analyzed. A primal-dual-algorithm-based approximation solution is shown (1) to be comparable to the linear-programming-based solution, which is near optimal; (2) to outperform a criticality-cognitive baseline algorithm; and (3) to be feasible for on-line scheduling. In addition, the dynamic QoS adjustment scheme is shown to greatly improve the quality of service for video streams. The multiresource management system is part of the Presto multimedia system environment prototyped at Honeywell for mission-critical applications.  相似文献

无线多媒体传感器网络(WMSNs)的主要特点包括资源有限、时延敏感和数据冗余性高。此外,音视频数据流传输所需的带宽是多媒体传感器节点所能承受的最大传输带宽的几倍。上述因素使得WMSNs的QoS 路由成为一个亟待解决的关键技术问题。鉴于此,首先通过基于等差数列的非均匀分簇算法对网络区域进行划分,然后在此网络拓扑上,提出一种基于移动Agent的WMSNs的QoS路由算法(MAQR)。MAQR由路由发现和数据传输两个阶段组成。在路由发现阶段,采用移动代理技术完成多路径路由发现。在数据传输阶段,采用多优先级多路径传输模型把数据流进行分类,并利用流量预测算法实现网络的负载均衡。最后,在NS-2平台上实现了MAQR,通过与同类算法进行仿真比较,发现MAQR较之同类算法能够明显地提高音视频传输的服务质量。此外,MAQR算法比同类算法的能耗更低。  相似文献

提出了一种用于Internet中服务质量控制的报文分组调度与丢弃算法.该方法根据用户要求的服务质量(quality of service,简称QoS)参数和多媒体应用的类型以及等待时间等因素,综合调度路由器中所到达的报文分组和分配缓冲,使其能够满足用户所要求的服务质量.计算机模拟表明,该算法的转发性能等指标要优于当前常用的调度算法——加权公平队列法(weighted fair queuing,简称WFQ),从而提高了网络传输多媒体信息的能力.  相似文献

This paper investigates variable rate control strategies for real-time multimedia variable bit rate (VBR) services over IEEE 802.16 broadband wireless networks. A data rate control mechanism is derived for the case where the uplink channel provides real-time services and the traffic rate parameter remains constant. This paper shows that the common queuing scheduling algorithms have some bandwidth allocation fairness problems for the real-time polling service (rtPS) in the MAC layer. In other words, the use of a VBR for the rtPS by a WiMAX system results in additional access latency jitter and bandwidth allocation disorder in the transmitted multimedia streams during the regular time interval polling of subscribe stations (SSs) for the contention bandwidth request period. However, the proposed scheduling algorithm solves these SSs contending with bandwidth resource allocation problems based on an extended rtPS (ertPS) of quality-of-service (QoS) pre-programming for a ranging response non-contention polling period. The adopted bandwidth allocation of max–min fairness queue scheduling uses a time constraint condition to transmit real-time multimedia VBR streaming in an IEEE 802.16 broadband wireless environment. In addition, we use the ns-2 simulation tool to compare the capacity of multimedia VBR stream and show that the proposed ertPS scheduling algorithm outperforms other rtPS scheduling algorithms.  相似文献

How to prolong the lifetime of multi-hop-multi-path wireless mesh networks powered by finite battery resource is a critical research challenge. In this paper, we strive for energy-balancing to maximize the network lifetime, while improving multimedia service quality via exploring both hop and path diversities. Different from traditional research, which sacrifices throughput for efficient energy utilization in the networks, we proposed a new approach jointly considering 5 factors in a cross layer fashion: the wireless channel condition, the physical layer channel coding redundancy, the application layer traffic rate, the path level energy-balancing of the network, and the Quality of Service (QoS) of multimedia. In the proposed approach, we develop an optimal scheme to allocate path-level multimedia traffic and link-level channel coding redundancy jointly, which minimizes the routers’ battery energy difference while satisfying a lower bound of quality requirement. The simulation results illustrate that the proposed approach can significantly improve the energy-balancing of the multi-hop-multi-path wireless mesh networks by performing the traffic and channel coding control.  相似文献

Wireless data networks such as cdma2000 1x EV-DO and UMTS HSDPA use downlink scheduling that exploits channel fading to increase the system throughput. As future wireless networks will eventually support multimedia and data traffic together, we need a proper criterion for scheduling that can count various service requirements such as delay and packet loss. Although some previous approaches proposed opportunistic schedulers at the lower layer, it has not been investigated well whether they are able to meet explicit QoS defined at the upper layer. Hence, in this paper, we develop a hierarchical scheduling model that considers QoS provisioning and the time-varying channel feature separately. We focus on the upper-level QoS scheduling that supports various traffic classes in a unified manner. Supposing that a user gets some satisfaction or utility when served, we introduce a novel concept of opportunity cost, which is defined as the maximum utility loss among users incurred by serving a particular user at the current turn. We obtain each user’s net profit by subtracting the opportunity cost from its expected utility, and then select a user with the maximum profit for service. Simulation results reveal that our scheme supports various QoS classes well that are represented by delay and packet loss under various traffic loadings.  相似文献

The emerging high-rate wireless personal area network (WPAN) technology is capable of supporting high-speed and high-quality real-time multimedia applications. In particular, video streams are deemed to be a dominant traffic type, and require quality of service (QoS) support. However, in the current IEEE 802.15.3 standard for MAC (media access control) of high-rate WPANs, the implementation details of some key issues such as scheduling and QoS provisioning have not been addressed. In this paper, we first propose a Markov decision process (MDP) model for optimal scheduling for video flows in high-rate WPANs. Using this model, we also propose a scheduler that incorporates compact state space representation, function approximation, and reinforcement learning (RL). Simulation results show that our proposed RL scheduler achieves nearly optimal performance and performs better than F-SRPT, EDD + SRPT, and PAP scheduling algorithms in terms of a lower decoding failure rate.  相似文献
