A frequency reconfigurable third‐order bandpass filter based on two substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavities is presented in this article. The purposed filter consists of a dual‐mode square‐shaped resonator and a triangular‐shaped resonator. In the square‐shaped cavity, four lumped capacitors are loaded as electrical tuning elements in the area where the electric fields of diagonal TE201 and TE102 modes are strongest. And an another capacitor is loaded at the suitable region of the triangular‐shaped cavity. Square‐shaped cavity introduces two transmission zeros and the triangular‐shaped cavity can suppress out‐of‐band spurious modes. The method that combines the resonators with different shapes and multiple modes into an organic whole cannot only achieve synchronous tuning but also have complementary advantages and improve out‐of‐band rejection. To verify its practicality, a SIW reconfigurable bandpass filter is simulated when the capacitance value varies from 0 to 1.4 pF and measured at 0.7, 0.8, and 0.9 pF, respectively. Measured results show that when the center frequency is tuned from 3.42 to 3.52 GHz, the proposed filter exhibits good tuning performance with insertion loss of less than 2.5 dB and return loss of better than 10 dB, which is suitable for fifth‐generation communication system.  相似文献

Two novel dual‐band microstrip bandpass filters (BPFs) with multiple transmission zeros are proposed in this article. The dual‐band BPFs with second‐order bandpass responses are due to two λ/4 stepped‐impedance resonators (SIRs). Two passbands (center frequency ratio f s/f0 is 2.36) are realized based on the asymmetric SIRs. The transmission zeros near the passbands can be adjusted conveniently using the stopband transmission characteristic of the open/shorted coupled lines. Two planar microstrip dual‐band BPFs (ε r = 2.65, h = 0.5 mm) with four and six transmission zeros are designed and fabricated. High selectivity and good in‐band performances can be achieved in the proposed filters.  相似文献

The miniaturized dual‐mode tri‐band band‐pass filters (BPF) using crossed‐island patch resonator is proposed in this article. The BPF is mainly formed by a square patch resonator in which a crossed‐island configuration is embedded in the patch. The patch size reduction with 74.4% is achieved. By the perturbation and the alternative inter‐digital coupling, the tri‐band responses are obtained. The proposed filter covers the required bandwidths for WLAN band (2.26–3.11 GHz and 5.02–6.0 GHz) and X‐band (7.58–8.41 GHz) applications. Five transmission zeros are placed between three pass‐bands and resulted in a good isolation. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J RF and Microwave CAE 24:457–463, 2014.  相似文献

A compact substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) with open complementary split‐ring resonators (OCSRRs) loaded on the waveguide surface is proposed. The OCSRRs can be interpreted in terms of electric dipoles and they are good candidates to behave as electric scatterers. By loading OCSRRs on the waveguide surface, a forward‐wave pass‐band propagating below the waveguide cutoff frequency is generated. The resonance frequency of the OCSRRs is approximately half of the resonance frequency of the complementary split ring resonator (CSRR). Therefore, the electrical size of this particle is larger than the CSRRs and the OCSRRs are more appropriate for the SIW miniaturization. A bandpass response with a sharp rejection frequency band is obtained by properly manipulating the structure of the elements. By changing the orientation of the OCSRRs, two types of unit cell are proposed. Moreover, by resizing the OCSRRs, resonance frequency can be easily moved and the bandwidth can be tuned by the coupling between two OCSRRs. Compared with some other reported bandpass filters (BPFs) with SIW technique, the presented BPF has great improvements on size reduction and selectivity. To verify the methodology, two filters with center frequency of 5.5 GHz are designed and measured. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulated ones. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A miniaturized substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) bandpass filter using fractal open complementary split‐ring resonators (FOCSRRs) unit‐cell is proposed. The proposed structure is realized by etching the proposed FOCSRR unit‐cells on the top metal surface of the SIW structure. The working principle of the proposed filter is based on the evanescent‐mode propagation. The proposed FOCSRRs behave as an electric dipoles in condition of the appropriate stimulation, which are able to generate a forward‐wave passband region below the cutoff frequency of the waveguide structure. Since, the electrical size of the proposed FOCSRRs unit‐cell is larger than the conventional OCSRRs unit‐cell; therefore, the FOCSRR unit‐cell is a good candidate to miniaturize the SIW structure. The proposed filter represents high selectivity and compact size because of the utilization of the sub‐wavelength resonators. The introduced filter is simulated by a 3D electromagnetic simulator. In order to validate the ability of the proposed topology in size reduction, 1‐ and 2‐stage of the proposed filters have been fabricated based on the standard printed circuit board process. The measured S‐parameters of the fabricated filters are in a good agreement with the simulated ones. The proposed SIW filters have many advantages in term of compact size, low insertion loss, high return loss, easy fabrication and integration with other circuits. It is the first time that the FOCSRR unit‐cells were combined with the SIW structure for miniaturization of this structure. Furthermore, a wide upper‐stopband with the attenuation >20 dB in the range of 3–8 GHz is achieved. The results show that, a miniaturization factor about 75.5% has been obtained.  相似文献

This work presents an efficient method for the design of substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) filters. The proposed design approach is based on a combined use of equivalent circuit model of a filter and a space mapping technique. A reduced number of full‐wave evaluations are needed, leading to a reduced optimization time. In this article, a novel compact band‐pass filter (BPF) with sharp cutoffs and a wide stop‐band is presented. The BPF is basically designed by cutting a modified complementary split‐ring resonator (CSRR) from the ground of two separated microstrip feed lines and has a 71% fractional bandwidth from 4.1 to 9 GHz. Because of the high insertion loss, the designed filter should be packed in a metallic cavity that has undesirable resonances in the stop‐band of the BPF. For eliminating cavity resonances, an evolutionary optimization technique based on changing the pixels of the CSRR defected ground structure is used. A prototype of the final structure obtained from the optimization technique is fabricated. The measurement results show that the optimized filter have a pass band from 4 to 8 GHz with a rejection better than 15 dB from 4 to 15 GHz. The designed filters have compact dimensions of 12 × 12 × 0.787 mm3. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J RF and Microwave CAE 24:544–548, 2014.  相似文献

Two dual‐band band pass filters (BPF) using stub‐loaded open‐loop (SLOL) resonator are presented in this article. A novel coupling tuning method by changing the relative coupling position of the resonators is proposed to control the bandwidth of each passband in a wide range. Transmission zeros are created to improve the selectivity by source‐load coupling. Because of the large ratio of two bandwidths, a novel dual‐band matching method is proposed to match the different load impedances at two passband frequencies to the same source impedance. Hence, relax the fabrication requirement of gap. The proposed dual‐band band pass filter is designed and fabricated. The measured 3 dB fractional bandwidths (FBWs) of two 2.45/5.25 GHz dual‐band BPFs are 6.5%/14.5% and 9.8%/5.5%, respectively. The results are in good agreement with the simulation. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J RF and Microwave CAE 24:367–374, 2014.  相似文献

A novel super compact filter based on half‐mode substrate‐integrated waveguide (HMSIW) technology loaded by the modified complementary split‐ring resonator (MCSRR) is proposed. The working principle of the proposed filter is based on the evanescent‐mode propagation technique. According to this technique, by loading the complementary split‐ring resonator (CSRR) on the metal surface of the substrate‐integrated waveguide (SIW) structure, an additional passband below the SIW cutoff frequency can be obtained. In order to miniaturize the physical size of the conventional CSRR, a new method is introduced. In the proposed MCSRR unit‐cell, the meander slots are carved inside all of the interior space of the ring. Accordingly, the length of the slot is increased which leads to an increase in the inductor and capacitor of the proposed structure without occupying the extra space. Therefore, the electrical size of the proposed MCSRR unit‐cell is reduced. Consequently, the resonance frequency of the proposed MCSRR unit‐cell is decreased compared to the conventional CSRR with the same sizes. Namely, the lower resonance frequencies can be achieved by using this technique without increasing the size of the unit‐cell. In order to confirm the miniaturization technique, two HMSIW filters loaded by the proposed MCSRR unit‐cell are designed, fabricated, and experimental verifications are provided. The results show that a miniaturization about 67% is achieved.  相似文献

In this article, a novel design of compact cavity‐backed slot antenna based on substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology is presented for dual‐frequency communication services. A single layer printed circuit board is applied to implement the proposed antenna. The bowtie‐ring slot engraved on the SIW square cavity is excited using two orthogonal microstrip feed lines to operate at two distinct frequencies (6.62 GHz and 11.18 GHz). The proposed antenna allows each of these frequencies to be designed independently. A prototype of the proposed cavity‐backed antenna that radiates at both 6.62 GHz and 11.18 GHz is fabricated and measured. The port isolation better than 29.3 dB is achieved by utilizing the transmission zeros (TZs), which are produced due to the orthogonal feed lines, TE110 mode and coupling between the TE120 and TE210 modes. The measured peak gains of the proposed diplexing antenna are 5.77 dBi and 5.81 dBi at lower and upper resonating frequencies, respectively. The proposed dual‐frequency antenna exhibits the front‐to‐back‐ratio (FTBR) and cross‐polarization level greater than 26 dB and 21 dB, respectively, at both resonating frequencies.  相似文献

This article presents a computer aided technique to synthesize the filtering function for dual‐band microwave filters with complex source and load impedances. Based on the exchange‐Remez algorithm and the power wave renormalization theory, the characteristic function is first obtained with assigned ripple level at the first passband. Two additional transmission zeros are then optimally allocated to control the ripple level at the second passband. By directly modifying the coupling matrix elements in the first and last stages, a simplified method is also presented when the loading impedance is frequency‐independent. Three synthesized examples with both controlled in‐band and out‐of‐band responses are presented. Finally, LC multi‐coupled circuits are also provided to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.  相似文献

A coupled‐line band‐pass filter (BPF) with T‐shaped stub structure is presented. Five transmission poles within the passband and eight deep transmission zeros (TZs) from 0 to 2f0 (f0 denotes filter's center frequency) are realized through input impedance calculations. With the simple T‐shaped structure, the positions of six TZs can be appropriately adjusted to achieve high frequency selectivity and stopband rejection. For demonstration, a BPF prototype centered at 2.05 GHz is designed and fabricated, whose measured rejection levels are of over 45.5 dB at lower stopband and better than 19.5 dB at upper stopband. The simulation and measurement results are in good agreement, which validates the design idea.  相似文献

A wideband H‐plane horn antenna based on quasi‐corrugated substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology with a very low profile is presented in this article. Open‐circuited microstrip stubs are applied to create electric sidewalls of the quasi‐corrugated SIW structure. The quasi‐corrugated SIW H‐plane horn antenna shows high performance and simple structure. A specify‐shaped horn aperture is utilized, so that the poor impedance matching owing to the structure restriction can be smoothened. The structure is simulated by ANSYS HFSS and a prototype is fabricated. The measured results match well with the simulated ones. An enhanced impedance bandwidth ranging from 5.3 GHz to 19 GHz (VSWR < 2.5) is achieved. The presented antenna also brings out stable radiation beam over the same frequency band.  相似文献

A high‐isolation dual‐polarized quad‐patch antenna fed by stacked substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) that is suitable for millimeter‐wave band is proposed in this paper. The antenna consists of a quad‐patch radiator, a two‐layer SIW feeding structure and two feeding ports for horizontal and vertical polarization. The two‐layer stacked SIW feeding structure achieves the high isolation between the two feeding ports (|S21| ≤ ?45 dB). Based on the proposed element, a 1 × 4 antenna array with a simple series‐fed network is also designed and investigated. A prototype working at the frequency band from 38 to 40 GHz is fabricated and tested. The results indicate that the proposed antenna has good radiation performance at 38 GHz that covers future 5G applications.  相似文献

A design technique to improve the spurious resonance behavior of dual‐band bandstop filters is presented. A compact dual‐band bandstop filter with two stop bands that can be controlled independently with improved passband frequency response is designed. The operational bandwidth of the proposed compact dual‐band bandstop filter is increased by pushing the first spurious resonance from being about twice the resonance frequency to more than three times the resonance frequency. Stepped impedance open loop resonators with substantially increased outer‐edge width are used to improve the spurious resonance response. Both simulation and measured results are presented and good agreement is obtained between the results. The fabricated filter exhibits dual operating frequencies at 1460 MHz and 2640 MHz with 5.5% and 5% stopband fractional bandwidths, respectively. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this study, a novel high selective UWB band pass filter (BPF) with dual notch band is presented. UWB BPF is realized using stub‐loaded multiple‐mode resonator (MMR). The MMR is constructed by loading a quintuple mode open stub at the centre in an asymmetric tri‐section stepped impedance resonator (ATSSIR). Five modes, including two odd modes and three even modes, placed within UWB band. Two transmission zeros generated by the fractal stub improve the passband selectivity greatly. Two half wavelength long fractal Hilbert resonators are embedded near I/O line to achieve notch bands at 5.1 and 5.9 GHz. Aperture‐backed interdigital coupled‐lines are implemented to improve the coupling. The proposed prototype is fabricated and tested. The measured insertion loss is observed to be within 1.5 dB over the passband. By virtue of two transmission zeros (TZs), on either side of the passband, at 5.1 and 5.9 GHz, respectively, the passband selectivity is achieved with measured roll‐off factor at around 34 dB/octave. The out‐of‐band rejection of the filter is greater than 22 dB up to 18 GHz. The simulated results are in good agreement with the measured responses.  相似文献

A pair of dual mode independent controllable resonators used to realize dual band pass filter with good frequency selectivity and isolation is presented. The resonators are directly connected to input/output and are coupled through electric and magnetic coupling in two different paths. Magnetic coupling between the resonators is achieved using a common grounded via‐hole between the two set of quarter‐wavelength resonators. Electric coupling is achieved through open edge coupling of the resonators. Two independent resonators with Separate Electric and Magnetic Coupling (SEMC) paths produce an independently controllable dual band filter response and also additional transmission zeros (TZs) at the edges of the pass bands. The TZs are introduced to improve the selectivity of the filter. Filter exhibits desired pass band response at the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) band (1.95‐2.2 GHz) and Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) band (3.4‐3.6 GHz). Proposed compact filter is implemented on RT/Duroid 5880 (εr = 2.2) substrate with thickness of 0.785 mm and surface area of 15 × 12 sq. mm.  相似文献

In this article, a filtering antenna array based on substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) is proposed with quasi‐elliptic gain responses for the first time. Two radiation nulls in the gain responses at two sides of the frequency band edges are designed by applying a novel intercavity bypass coupling scheme. First, by carefully analyzing the bypass coupling between the in‐band and out‐of‐band modes in a single oversized TE103 mode cavity resonator, quasi‐elliptic filtering responses are achieved for a two‐output filter. Afterward, those cavity resonators coupled with the two outputs are replaced by cavity‐backed slot antennas to achieve the proposed filtering cavity‐backed slot antenna array. Only one cavity is required in our design to achieve the two transmission zeros and the function of power divider. As a result, the complexity of the proposed filtering antenna array is reduced. A prototype operating at Ka band is designed, fabricated and measured with a center frequency of 28.5 GHz and fractional bandwidth of 1.25%. Similar characteristics can be observed between the gain response of the proposed filtering antenna and the transmission responses of the two‐output filter. The proposed SIW filtering antenna array has great potential to be integrated into millimeter‐wave transceiver modules. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
