Development of shape memory polymer materials with integrated self-healing ability, shape memory property, and outstanding mechanical properties is a challenge. Herein, isophorone diisocyanate, polytetramethylene ether glycol, dimethylglyoxime, and glycerol have been used to preparation polyurethane by reacting at 80°C for 6 h. Then, graphene oxide (GO) was added and the reaction keep at 80°C for 4 h to obtain polyurethane/GO composite with self-healing and shape memory properties. Scanning electron microscopy shows that the GO sheets were dispersed uniformly in the polyurethane matrix. The thermal stability was characterized by thermogravimetric analyses. The tensile test shows that the Young's modulus of the composites increases from 38.57 ± 4.35 MPa for pure polyurethane to 95.36 ± 10.35 MPa for the polyurethane composite with a GO content of 0.5 wt%, and the tensile strength increases from 6.28 ± 0.67 to 15.65 ± 1.54 MPa. The oxime carbamate bond and hydrogen bond endow the composite good self-healing property. The healing efficiency can reach 98.84%. In addition, the composite has excellent shape memory property, with a shape recovery ratio of 88.6% and a shape fixation ratio of 55.2%. This work provides a promising way to fabricate stimulus-responsive composite with versatile functions.  相似文献

Friction stir processing (FSP) is a novel process for refinement of microstructure, improvement of material’s mechanical properties and production of surface layer composites. In present investigation, composite reinforced with using Zn/ MoS2 powder in as-cast alloy were developed at tool rotational speed of 664 rpm and tool transverse speed of 26 mm/min using FSP. Microstructural observation of MoS2/Zn reinforced composites confirmed the fine and equiaxed grains in the stir zone (SZ) and distribution of fine reinforced particles of MoS2/Zn in SZ. Moreover, agglomeration of MoS2/Zn particles were not observed. The ultimate tensile strength was measured to be 113 ± 9 and 82 ± 7 MPa for MoS2and Zn reinforced Al-Si alloy, respectively. The sliding wear was studied using pin-on-disk tribometer and it was found that FSP enhanced the wear resistance of the as-cast alloy. The MoS2 reinforced composite showed superior wear resistance than Zn reinforced composite and base material. To understand the acting wear mechanism, the field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) of worn out surfaces were performed.  相似文献

Interphase between the fibers and matrix plays a key role on the properties of fiber reinforced composites. In this work, the effect of interphase on mechanical properties and microstructures of 3D Cf/SiBCN composites at elevated temperatures was investigated. When PyC interphase is used, flexural strength and elastic modulus of the Cf/SiBCN composites decrease seriously at 1600°C (92 ± 15 MPa, 12 ± 2 GPa), compared with the properties at room temperature (371 ± 31 MPa, 31 ± 2 GPa). While, the flexural strength and elastic modulus of Cf/SiBCN composites with PyC/SiC multilayered interphase at 1600°C are as high as 330 ± 7 MPa and 30 ± 2 GPa, respectively, which are 97% and 73% of the values at room temperature (341 ± 20 MPa, 41 ± 2 GPa). To clarify the effect mechanism of the interphase on mechanical properties of the Cf/SiBCN composites at elevated temperature, interfacial bonding strength (IFBS) and microstructures of the composites were investigated in detail. It reveals that the PyC/SiC multilayered interphase can retard the SiBCN matrix degradation at elevated temperature, leading to the high strength retention of the composites at 1600°C.  相似文献

Continuous carbon fiber reinforced (SiC-ZrC)n multi-layer structural matrix composites were prepared by isothermal chemical vapor infiltration method. The microstructure, bending and ablation behavior of the composites with different number (n, n = 1, 2, 4) of SiC-ZrC layer were studied. The fracture morphology was step-like fracture. With the increase of n, the number of interfaces doubled, benefiting that the cracks kept deflecting and branching at the interface to consume lots of energy. The bending strength increased from 127.63 MPa (n = 1) to 276.85 MPa (n = 4). After ablation, among the prepared composites, C/(SiC-ZrC)4 composite not only had the highest residual bending strength (169 MPa), but also had the best ablation resistance, which the mass and linear ablation rates were 1.17 ± 0.19 mg/s and 7.50 ± 0.56 µm/s, respectively.  相似文献

This study explores the viability of fiberglass‐geopolymer composites as an intermediate temperature structural ceramic composite. E‐glass fibers are cheap, readily available, resistant to heat, electricity and chemical attack. Geopolymers are refractory and can be processed at room temperature. However, pure geopolymers have low tensile strength and fracture toughness, as is typical of ceramics. In this work, tensile and flexure properties of metakaolin‐based sodium and potassium geopolymers reinforced with E‐glass leno weaves were measured and the data was analyzed by Weibull statistics. The average tensile and flexural strengths for sodium geopolymer reinforced with E‐glass leno weaves were 39.3 ± 7.2 MPa and 25.6 ± 4.8 MPa, respectively. For potassium geopolymer reinforced with E‐glass leno weaves, the average tensile and flexural strengths were 40.7 ± 9.9 MPa and 15.9 ± 4.0 MPa, respectively. The composites were heat treated for one hour at two temperatures, 300°C and 550°C and their flexure properties were studied at room temperatures. The average flexural strengths for sodium geopolymer reinforced with E‐glass leno weaves were reduced to 6.6 ± 1.0 MPa after heat treatment at 300°C, and 1.2 ± 0.3 MPa after heat treatment at 550°C, respectively. For potassium geopolymer reinforced with E‐glass leno weaves, the average flexural strengths were 6.1 ± 1.5 MPa and 1.3 ± 0.3 MPa after heat treatment at 300°C and 550°C, respectively. SEM and EDS were performed to observe the fiber‐matrix interface. XRD was done to check if the geopolymer was amorphous as expected.  相似文献

The effect of single-layer pyrocarbon (PyC) and multilayered (PyC/SiC)n=4 interphases on the flexural strength of un-coated and SiC seal-coated stitched 2D carbon fiber reinforced silicon carbide (Cf/SiC) composites was investigated. The composites were prepared by I-CVI process. Flexural strength of the composites was measured at 1200 °C in air atmosphere. It was observed that irrespective of the type of interphase, the seal coated samples showed a higher value of flexural strength as compared to the uncoated samples. The flexural strength of 470 ± 12 MPa was observed for the seal coated Cf/SiC composite samples with multilayered interphase. The seal coated samples with single layer PyC interphase showed flexural strength of 370 ± 20 MPa. The fractured surfaces of tested samples were analyzed in detail to study the fracture phenomena. Based on microstructure-property relations, a mechanism has been proposed for the increase of flexural properties of Cf/SiC composites having multilayered interphase.  相似文献

Si3N4 composites with 3 and 5?wt% of graphene nanoplatelet (GNP) additions were prepared by spark plasma sintering. We used both commercially available GNPs and thinner few-layer graphene nanoplatelets (FL-GNPs) prepared by further exfoliation through ball milling with melamine addition. We found that by employing thinner FL-GNPs as filler material a 100% increase in the fracture toughness of Si3N4/3?wt% FL-GNP composites (10.5?±?0.2?MPa?m1/2) can be achieved as compared to the monolithic Si3N4 samples (5.1?±?0.3?MPa?m1/2), and 60% increase compared to conventional Si3N4/3?wt% GNP composites (6.6?±?0.4?MPa?m1/2). For 5?wt% filler content the increase of the fracture toughness was near 50% for both GNP and FL-GNP fillers. The hardness of the composites decreased with increasing GNP content. However, composites reinforced with 5?wt% of FL-GNPs displayed 30% higher Vickers hardness (12.8?±?0.2?GPa) than their counterparts comprising conventional GNP fillers (9.8?±?0.2?GPa). We attribute the enhanced mechanical properties obtained with thinner FL-GNPs to their higher aspect ratio leading to a more homogeneous dispersion, higher interface area, as well as smaller pores in the ceramic matrix.  相似文献

A novel method has been developed to fabricate carbon fiber reinforced SiC (Cf/SiC) composites by combining 3D printing and liquid silicon infiltration process. Green parts are firstly fabricated through 3D printing from a starting phenolic resin coated carbon fiber composite powder; then the green parts are subjected to vacuum resin infiltration and pyrolysis successively to generate carbon fiber/carbon (Cf/C) preforms; finally, the Cf/C preforms are infiltrated with liquid silicon to obtain Cf/SiC composites. The 3D printing processing parameters show significant effects on the physical properties of the green parts and also the resultant Cf/C preforms, consequently greatly affecting the microstructures and mechanical performances of the final Cf/SiC composites. The overall linear shrinkage of the Cf/SiC composites is less than 3%, and the maximum density, flexural strength and fracture toughness are 2.83?±?0.03?g/cm3, 249?±?17.0?MPa and 3.48?±?0.24?MPa m1/2, respectively. It demonstrates the capability of making near net-shape Cf/SiC composite parts with complex structures.  相似文献

The use of renewable resource is a strategic opportunity to meet growing demands of eco-friendly materials. The present study reports the synthesis of castor-oil-based polyurethane (COPU), and its nanocomposites with CoFe2O4 and AgFeO2 via sonication technique. Formation of the nanocomposite was confirmed by IR analysis while UV–visible studies revealed encapsulation of the ferrite particles by COPU. The interaction between COPU, AgFeO2, CoFe2O4, and their nanocomposites with bovine serum albumin (BSA) was also investigated by fluorescence spectroscopy which revealed static quenching of BSA through complex formation. The quenching rate for COPU was determined to be 1.98?×?104?LM?1 while for pure CoFe2O4 and AgFeO2, it was found to be 3?×?104?LM?1 and 3.2?×?104?LM?1, respectively. The interaction of BSA particularly with silver and cobalt ferrite nanoparticles within COPU matrix was found to be promising. It was found that by controlling the loading of ferrite in COPU matrix, desired binding could be achieved.  相似文献

In this study, continuous carbon reinforced Cf/(Ti0.2Zr0.2Hf0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2)C–SiC high entropy ceramic matrix composites were additively manufactured through paper laminating (PL), direct slurry writing (DSW), and precursor infiltration and pyrolysis (PIP). (Ti0.2Zr0.2Hf0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2)C high entropy ceramic (HEC) powders were synthesized by pressureless sintering and ball milling. A certain proportion of HEC powder, SiC powder, water, binder, and dispersant were mixed to prepare the HEC-SiC slurry. Meanwhile, BN coating was prepared on the 2D fiber cloth surface by the boric acid-urea method and then the cloth was cut into required shape. Additive manufacturing were conducted subsequently. Firstly, one piece of the as-treated carbon fiber cloth was auto-placed on the workbench by paper laminating (PL). Then, the HEC-SiC slurry was extruded onto the surface of the cloth by direct slurry writing (DSW). PL and DSW process were repeated, and a Cf/HEC-SiC preform was obtained after 3 cycles. At last, the preform was densified by precursor infiltration and pyrolysis (PIP) and the final Cf/HEC-SiC composite was prepared. The open porosity of the Cf/HEC-SiC composites, with the HEC volume fractions of 15, 30 and 45%, were 7.7, 10.6, and 11.3%, respectively. And the density of the Cf/HEC-SiC composites, with the HEC volume fractions of 15, 30 and 45%, were 2.9, 2.7 and 2.3 g/cm3, respectively. The mechanical properties of the Cf/HEC-SiC composites increased firstly and then decreased with the HEC content increase, reaching the maximum value when the HEC volume fraction was 30%. The mechanical properties of the Cf/HEC-SiC composites containing 45, 30 and 15% HEC were as follows: flexural strength (180.4 ± 14 MPa, 183.7 ± 4 MPa, and 173.9 ± 4 MPa), fracture toughness (11.9 ± 0.17 MPa m1/2, 14.6 ± 2.89 MPa m1/2, and 11.3 ± 1.88 MPa m1/2), and tensile strength (71.5 ± 4.9 MPa, 98.4 ± 12.2 MPa, and 73.4 ± 8.5 MPa). From this study, the additive manufacturing of continuous carbon fiber reinforced high entropy ceramic matrix composites was achieved, opening a new insight into the manufacturing of ceramic matrix composites.  相似文献

Geopolymers or polysialates are inorganic polymeric, ceramic‐like materials composed of alumina, silica, and alkali metal oxides that can be made without any thermal treatment. Additions of reinforcing phases vastly improve the mechanical properties and high‐temperature stability of the geopolymer. The processing and mechanical properties of both chopped strand mat as well as 2‐D woven fabric‐reinforced potassium geopolymer composites have been evaluated. Hand lay‐up and hydraulic press processing methods were used to produce composite panels. The room‐temperature tensile and flexural strength of chopped strand mat composites was 21.0 ± 3.1 and 31.7 ± 4.4 MPa, respectively, while those of basalt weave‐reinforced geopolymer composites reached 40.0 ± 5.9 and 45.2 ± 9.3 MPa, respectively. Composite microstructures were examined using optical microscopy as well as scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Mass, volume, and porosity fractions were also determined. The effect of high‐temperature treatments at 25°C, 300°C, 600°C, and 800°C were analyzed. Finally, Weibull statistical analysis was performed, which showed an increase in reliability when a reinforcement phase was added to K‐geopolymer.  相似文献

The dispersibility of precipitated silica and its interfacial interaction with rubber matrix can affect the performances of tires which is a difficult problem to be solved. A well-dispersed silica dispersion was obtained through ball milling and modification process followed by heat treatment to enhance the properties of NR composites prepared by latex compounding. Benefiting from the modifier Si-747, the well-dispersed silica/NR composite (Silica-MSH-C) shows excellent tensile strength of 30.8 ± 0.5 MPa, which is 17.6 ± 3.8% higher than latex compounding pure silica/NR composite (Silica-C) and 21.7 ± 4.3% higher than traditional mechanical blending pure silica/NR composite (T-Silica-C). The tan delta values indicate that Silica-MSH-C has better dynamic properties and also has stronger interface strength according to swelling tests, heat capacity curves and Mooney-Rivlin equation. The molecular dynamics (MD) simulation further shows the binding energy between NR and Si-747 modified SiO2 is 58.88 Kcal/mol larger than the value of NR and pure silica.  相似文献

Waterborne polyurethane elastomer (WPU) has been widely used as a glue, but it still has some drawbacks, including a long cure time and weak adhesive force. In order to overcome these drawbacks, a new composite [PU/ferric ion complexation (Fe/PU)] with high adhesive strength was successfully prepared using ferric ion (Fe3+) as a complexing agent. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, dynamic mechanical analysis, and tensile testing were used to characterize the chemical structure and mechanical properties of the as‐obtained composites. Introduction of the ferric ion induces a certain degree of microphase separation, resulting in better mechanical strength and interfacial adhesion. The mechanical properties of the PU composite with ferric ions are higher than that of pure PU. The adhesive strength of the 25%‐Fe/PU composite is 32.46 ± 3.1 MPa, exhibiting superior adhesive strength. The tensile strength was enhanced 34%, and the elongation was enhanced 23.6% compared to pure PU. Furthermore, the Fe/PU composite, coordinated with ferric ions, exhibits an enhanced storage modulus and reduced loss coefficient compared to PU. We can foresee that Fe/PU composites will play an important role in the building and engineering areas. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci. 2018 , 135, 46069.  相似文献

To improve the friction and wear behavior of the polyurethane composites, carbon fibers were modified with 2, 4‐diisocyanatotoluene. The mechanical and tribological properties of the reinforced polyurethane composites were studied. Tensile strength of the composites increased with the addition of carbon fibers. The friction and wear experiments were tested on a MRH‐3 model ring‐on‐block test rig at different sliding speeds and loads under dry sliding. Experimental results revealed that carbon fibers with chemical treatment contributed to largely improve the tribological properties of the polyurethane composites. Scanning electron microscopic (SEM) investigations showed that the worn surface of the modified polyurethane composite was smoother than pure polyurethane under given load and sliding speed. POLYM. The chopped carbon fiber reinforced SiC (Cf/SiC) composite has been regarded as one of the excellent high-temperature structural materials for applications in aerospace and military fields. This paper presented a novel printing strategy using direct ink writing (DIW) of chopped fibers reinforced polymer-derived ceramics (PDCs) with polymer infiltration and pyrolysis (PIP) process for the fabrication of Cf/SiC composites with high strength and low shrinkage. Five types of PDCs printing inks with different Cf contents were prepared, their rheological properties and alignment of carbon fiber in the printing filament were studied. The 3D scaffold structures and bending test samples of Cf/SiC composites were fabricated with different Cf contents. The results found that the Cf/SiC composite with 30 wt% Cf content has high bending strength (~ 7.09 MPa) and negligible linear shrinkage (~ 0.48%). After the PIP process, the defects on the Cf/SiC composite structures were sufficiently filled, and the bending strength of Cf/SiC composite can reach up to about 100 MPa, which was about 30 times greater than that of the pure SiC matrix without Cf. This work demonstrated that the printed Cf/SiC composites by using this method is beneficial to the development of the precision and complex high-temperature structural members.  相似文献

A near fully dense mullite-TiB2-CNTs hybrid composite was prepared successfully trough spark plasma sintering. 1 wt%CNT and 10 wt%TiB2 were mixed with nano-sized mullite powders using a high energy mixer mill. Spark plasma sintering was carried out at 1350 °C under the primary and final pressure of 10 MPa and 30 MPa, respectively. XRD results showed mullite and TiB2 as dominant crystalline phases accompanied by tiny peaks of alumina. The microstructure of prepared composites demonstrated uniform distribution of TiB2 reinforcements in mullite matrix without any pores and porosities as a result of near fully densified spark plasma sintered composite. The fracture surface of composite revealed a proper bonding of TiB2 with mullite matrix and also areas with CNTs tunneling and superficies as a result of pulling-out phenomenon. The flexural strength of 531 ± 28 MPa, Vickers harness of 18.31 ± 0.3 GPa, and fracture toughness of 5.46 ± 0.12 MPa m−1/2 were achieved for prepared composites as the measured mechanical properties.  相似文献

The alumina slurry with high solid content was prepared, and a rapid lamination route for fabricate the Nextel? 610 fiber reinforced alumina composite was proposed in this work. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the as-received all-oxide composite were investigated by a series of techniques. The shrinkage cracks in matrix were reduced, while porous structure in composite was maintained. The N610/alumina composite has weak matrix and weak interface, as the Young’s modulus of the alumina matrix and the interfacial shear strength of the composite are 140.8±2.5GPa and 129.1±14.6MPa. The mechanical properties of the composite are much higher than lots of oxide/oxide composites, given its flexural strength, interlaminar shear strength and the fracture toughness are 398.4±5.7MPa、27.0±0.5MPa and 14.1±0.9MPa·m1/2, respectively. The flexural strength of the virgin composite keep stable at 25–1050 °C, while dramatically decrease at 1100–1200 °C.  相似文献

The high sintering temperature and interface interaction seriously degraded the toughening effects of continuous carbon fiber in ZrB2-SiC ceramic. The pyrolytic carbon coated carbon fiber reinforced ZrB2-SiC composite (Cf-PyC/ZrB2-SiC) with desirable properties was successfully achieved via brushing nano ZrB2-SiC slurry followed by spark plasma sintering at relatively low sintering temperature. The fabricated Cf-PyC/ZrB2-SiC composite presented a non-brittle fracture feature and a remarkable enhancement in comparison with the ZrB2-SiC composite reinforced by the as-received carbon fiber (Cf-AS/ZrB2-SiC). The fracture toughness and critical crack size were increased from 5.97?±?0.18–7.66?±?0.24?MPa?m1/2 and from 91.6 to 164.5?µm, respectively. A high work of fracture of 1915?J/m2 for Cf-PyC/ZrB2-SiC composite was achieved, almost four times higher than that of the Cf-AS/ZrB2-SiC composite (463?J/m2). Multiple toughening mechanisms contributed to such enhancement, such as crack deflection, fiber bridging, fiber pull-out and crack branching. This work provides a feasible approach to fabricate high-performance fiber reinforced ceramic composites having a high work of fracture.  相似文献

To enhance the properties of epoxy composites, the biphenyl diol formaldehyde resin (BPFR) and glycidyloxypropyl polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (G-POSS) were synthesized and used for modification of fiber-glass reinforced composites of epoxy resin (ER). The BPFR was employed to cure epoxy resin with different G-POSS contents and the laminates of fiber-glass reinforced hybrid composites prepared from BPFR, ER and G-POSS. The dynamic mechanical properties, thermal properties, mechanical and electrical properties of the hybrid composites were characterized by dynamic mechanical analyzer, thermogravimetric analyzer and electroproperty detector. The results showed that the T g of the composites is increased with the addition of G-POSS. When the content of G-POSS is 5 wt%, the tensile and impact strength of the hybrid composites are 249.87 MPa and 63.83 kJ/m2, respectively, which are all 30 % higher than those of non-added composites. At G-POSS content of 7 wt%, T g of the material is 9.6 °C higher than pure BPFR/ER composite, and the initial decomposition temperature, T id, is enhanced by about 29 °C. Dielectric constant, ε, and dielectric loss, tanδ, of the hybrid composites are between 0.53–0.7 and between 0.004–0.012, respectively.  相似文献

Polyurethane‐based magnetostrictive composites containing between 30 and 70 wt% Terfenol‐D have been prepared in order to obtain better and tailored dynamic‐mechanical properties. The thermal and mechanical properties of polyurethanes with different chemical compositions were first analyzed to determine the most adequate one to prepare the composite materials. Calorimetric analysis indicates that the amount of crystallites increased in presence of Terfenol‐D. Dynamic‐mechanical properties have also been determined for the chosen composite, showing that the damping peak at glass transition increased by the addition of the magnetostrictive material while it became simultaneously broader. However, the storage modulus showed a drop with the increase in the filler content from 2200 MPa for pure polyurethane to 400 MPa for polyurethane with 60 %wt Terfenol‐D. POLYM. ENG.
