Roll crossing can be utilized as a method for profile and flatness control in a rolling mill. The estimation of the profile adjusting range by calculating the elastic roll-gap deflection reveals that roll crossing has a similar effect on the profile as positive bending. Under the assumptions made in the calculations roll crossing is an effective method as profile and crown actuator. Furthermore the effect of roll crossing on the flatness is qualitatively confirmed by rolling trials. Beyond the investigation of the effectiveness of roll crossing as profile and flatness actuator a 3-dimensional finite element simulation of the material flow in the roll gap was done. The results of these simulations, which were confirmed by rolling trials as well, showed that the rolled specimen warps out of the passline due to the crossing of the work rolls whereas the influence of roll crossing on the distribution of local plastomechanical values is negligible. Force components in axial direction are induced by crossing the rolls, which have to be compensated by additional bearings. For the determination of the amount of axial forces rolling trials on a laboratory four-high mill were carried out.  相似文献

In comparison with pyeloplasty, endourologic procedures for the treatment of ureteropelvic junction obstruction offer good success rates with less morbidity and a shorter hospitalization; however, studies have found lower success rates and increased complications in patients with crossing vessels. Conventional diagnostic angiography and intravenous urography have both been used to identify crossing vessels at the UPJ; but, a reliable, less invasive, less costly, and simpler preoperative procedure to identify crossing vessels is needed. Helical CT with CT angiography is a promising noninvasive technique for the identification of crossing vessels at the ureteropelvic junction, which can be used for surgical planning of endourologic treatment of UPJ obstruction.  相似文献

The process of integrating visual information and planning a safe crossing is cognitively demanding for many young children. We assessed relations between traffic characteristics, aspects of children's executive functioning (EF), and pedestrian behavior, with the aim being to determine whether well-developed EF would predict safer pedestrian behaviors beyond the contributions of child demographic and traffic environment factors. Using the pretend road method, we studied a sample of 83 children aged 6–9 in a series of 5 crossing trials beside a real road in response to actual traffic conditions. Traffic characteristics and pedestrian behaviors were observed and measured across crossing trials. Both traffic characteristics and EF, most notably cognitive efficiency, were strongly related to children's pedestrian crossing behaviors. Traffic characteristics were also found to interact with children's ability to monitor their crossing performance. Examining developmental influences in pedestrian injury etiology broadens researchers' knowledge of and ability to prevent injuries by moving beyond describing what happens to children and examining why pedestrian injuries occur. The primary all-trans --> 13-cis photoisomerization of retinal in bacteriorhodopsin has been investigated by means of quantum chemical and combined classical/quantum mechanical simulations employing the density matrix evolution method. Ab initio calculations on an analog of a protonated Schiff base of retinal in vacuo reveal two excited states S1 and S2, the potential surfaces of which intersect along the reaction coordinate through an avoided crossing, and then exhibit a second, weakly avoided, crossing or a conical intersection with the ground state surface. The dynamics governed by the three potential surfaces, scaled to match the in situ level spacings and represented through analytical functions, are described by a combined classical/quantum mechanical simulation. For a choice of nonadiabatic coupling constants close to the quantum chemistry calculation results, the simulations reproduce the observed photoisomerization quantum yield and predict the time needed to pass the avoided crossing region between S1 and S2 states at tau1 = 330 fs and the S1 --> ground state crossing at tau2 = 460 fs after light absorption. The first crossing follows after a 30 degrees torsion on a flat S1 surface, and the second crossing follows after a rapid torsion by a further 60 degrees. tau1 matches the observed fluorescence lifetime of S1. Adjusting the three energy levels to the spectral shift of D85N and D212N mutants of bacteriorhodospin changes the crossing region of S1 and S2 and leads to an increase in tau1 by factors 17 and 10, respectively, in qualitative agreement with the observed increase in fluorescent lifetimes.  相似文献

Very high variability is characteristic of crossing over. A mechanism of crossing-over variation is proposed on the basis of new data obtained by Chadov et al. Variations are believed to be determined by the character of pairing preceding crossing over and the mechanism of transforming contacts into exchanges. Pairing of homologues is assumed to involve consecutive formation of local contacts between them. The onset of this process depends of the chromosome structure. Exchanges appear in contact sites. Determination of crossing-over sites occurs when the contact number in a meiocyte reaches a certain threshold. The number of contacts formed in each chromosome pair by this time can vary. This results in variations of all parameters of crossing over: recombinational length (RL), exchange number per chromosome arm, and interference. The effect of a chromosome aberration on crossing over in aberrant and heterologous chromosome pairs, i.e., the interchromosomal effect on crossing over (IEC) and the mechanisms determining exchange number and interference, are explained on the basis of the proposed model.  相似文献

In a study of the genetic mechanisms associated with adaptive radiation in Hawaiian Tetramolopium, a genetic linkage map was constructed in an interspecific cross. A total of 125 RFLP and RAPD markers were mapped into 117 different loci on nine linkage groups for a map length of 665.7 cM. Segregation distortion occurred in 49% of the mapped probes, located primarily in four linkage groups. High percentages of one parental species genotype (Tetramolopium rockii) were recovered in three of these blocks and the second parental species (T. humile) in the remaining block. The high degree of distorted segregation suggests the buildup of internal crossing barriers, even though island plant species are typically characterized as highly cross compatible with few to no internal crossing barriers. This work and a review of previous crossing studies in island plants show that internal (postmating) crossing barriers do exist. The weak crossing barriers have likely been overlooked because the main focus has been on diversification and speciation through adaptation to extremely diverse environments.  相似文献
