We present an efficient blind algorithm for estimating the code timing of a desired user in an asynchronous direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS/CDMA) system over frequency-nonselective-fading channels. The proposed algorithm acquires the code timing explicitly and results in a near-far resistant minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) demodulation without requiring the knowledge of the timing information, amplitudes, and transmitted symbols of all transmissions. The only required knowledge is the information of the signature sequence used by the desired transmission. Several computer simulations are done for additive white Gaussian channels, Rayleigh fading channels, and two-ray Rayleigh fading multipath channels, respectively. Numerical results show that the new algorithm is near-far resistant to the multiple-access interference (MAI) in the DS/CDMA system  相似文献

A direct sequence (DS) spread spectrum code division multiple access (CDMA) communication system is considered where several users transmit data symbols over different multipath channels. The main objective of this work is the proposal of a sequential algorithm for joint parameter estimation and multiuser data detection. The computationally prohibitive maximization of the log-likelihood function is replaced by a sequential scheme using the multistage detector for recovering the data symbols and the expectation-maximization algorithm for estimating the channel parameters. The performance of the resulting multiuser receiver is evaluated via Monte Carlo simulations using both synthetic as well as measured channel impulse responses. A comparison of the performance with analytical expressions for the single-user single-path case shows that the proposed system is capable of eliminating the near-far effect existing in conventional DS/CDMA systems.  相似文献

In Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) radio environments, the maximum number of supportable users per cell is limited by multipath fading, shadowing, multiple access interference and near-far effects which cause fluctuations of the received power at the base station. In this context, power control and signal detection are essential to provide satisfactory Quality of Service (QoS) and to combat the near-far problem in CDMA systems. In this paper, we raised the uplink power control problem for a generalize asynchronous direct-sequence (DS) CDMA system that explicitly incorporate into the analysis: (1) the propagation delays in the network (generally neglected in the literature), (2) the adverse effect of multipath fading for wireless channels, and (3) the asynchronous transmissions in the uplink channels. This framework is used to propose a distributed power control strategy enhanced with linear multiuser receivers. It is shown that through a proper selection of an error function, the nonlinear coupling among active users is transformed into individual linear loops. A Linear-Quadratic-Gaussian (LQG) power control strategy is derived and compared with other approaches from the literature. Simulation results show that the uplink channel variations do not destroy the stability of these power control structures. However, delays in the closed-loop paths can severely affect the stability and performance of the resulting feedback schemes. It is also shown that the use of multiuser detection at the base station can bring significant improvements to the performance of power control.  相似文献

Multipath fading severely limits the performances of conventional code division multiple-access (CDMA) systems. Since every signal passes through an independent frequency-selective fading channel, even modest cross-correlations among signature sequences may induce severe near-far effects in a central multiuser receiver. This paper presents a systematic approach to the detection problem in CDMA frequency-selective fading channels and proposes a low complexity linear multiuser receiver, which eliminates fading induced near-far problem.We initially analyze an optimal multiuser detector, consisting of a bank of RAKE filters followed by a dynamic programming algorithm and evaluate its performance through error probability bounds. The concepts of error sequence decomposition and asymptotic multiuser efficiency, used to characterize the optimal receiver performance, are extended to multipath fading channels.The complexity of the optimal detector motivates the work on a near-far resistant, low complexity decorrelating multiuser detector, which exploits multipath diversity by using a multipath decorrelating filter followed by maximal-ratio combining. Analytic expressions for error probability and asymptotic multiuser efficiency of the suboptimal receiver are derived that include the effects of multipath fading, multiple-access interference and signature sequences correlation on the receiver's performance.The results indicate that multiuser detectors not only alleviate the near-far problem but approach single-user RAKE performance, while preserving the multipath diversity gain. In this paper, a closed-form bit error rate (BER) of hard-decision multistage partial parallel interference cancellation (PPIC) having perfect and imperfect channel estimation for complex spreading code-division multiple access (CDMA) over multipath Rayleigh channels was derived. The effects of receiving BER, power ratio of pilot to data channels, multiple-access interference (MAI) and multipath interference, additive white Gaussian noise, and other factors affecting channel estimation error are analyzed. The expression determining the optimal interference cancellation weight at path level for PPIC is first derived. Then, the oscillatory behavior of user-level-optimized PIC and the convergence of perfect channel estimation PIC and path-level-optimized PIC are validated. Results indicate that all factors determining the optimal weight certainly affect the BER performance of PPIC and that the lower BER limit of multistage PPIC depends on the adjustable factors, which include power ratio, observation length, and signal-to-noise ratio, and an unchangeable factor, i.e., number of users. In addition, the variance of MAI for complex spreading sequence is obtained, and the analytical expression can also be employed to predict the performance of multicode CDMA.  相似文献

In this paper, we tackle the problem of theoretical evaluation for the multistage parallel interference cancellation (PIC) scheme in a direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) system with orthogonal modulation and long scrambling codes. The studied system operates on the reverse link in a time varying multipath Rayleigh fading channel. By applying the Central Limit Theorem and some other approximations to multiple access interference (MAI) and intersymbol interference (ISI), as well as assuming identically distributed chips from a single interferer, the bit error rate (BER) performance of the PIC scheme at any stage can be recursively computed from the signal-to-noise ratio, number of users, the number of path per user, processing gain of the CDMA system, and the average received power of each path. For completeness, the BER expression is derived for chip synchronous and chip asynchronous systems over both equal and unequal power multipath channels. The proposed analysis is validated by the Monte Carlo simulations and proved to be reasonably accurate, and it gives insight into the performance and capacity one can expect from PIC-based receivers under different situations. For instance, the analytical results can be used to examine the convergence property, multipath diversity gains, and near-far resistance of the PIC scheme.  相似文献

Code division multiple access (CDMA) schemes allow a number of asynchronous users to share a transmission medium with minimum cooperation among them. However, sophisticated signal processing algorithms are needed at the receiver to combat interference from other users and multipath effects. A discrete-time multirate formulation is introduced for asynchronous CDMA systems, which can incorporate multipath effects. This formulation reveals interesting links between CDMA receivers and array processing problems. In this framework, linear receivers are derived that can completely suppress multiuser interference (decorrelating receivers). A criterion is introduced, which guarantees the decorrelating property, while providing optimal solutions in the presence of noise. Parametric FIR designs as well as nonparametric solutions are delineated, and their performance is analyzed. Channel estimation techniques for code-division multiple access (CDMA) systems need to combat multiple access interference (MAI) effectively. Most existing estimation techniques are designed for CDMA systems with short repetitive spreading codes. However, current and next-generation wireless systems use long spreading codes whose periods are much larger than the symbol duration. We derive the maximum-likelihood channel estimate for long-code CDMA systems over multipath channels using training sequences and approximate it using an iterative algorithm to reduce the computational complexity in each symbol duration. The iterative channel estimate is also shown to be asymptotically unbiased. The effectiveness of the iterative channel estimator is demonstrated in terms of squared error in estimation as well as the bit error rate performance of a multistage detector based on the channel estimates. The effect of error in decision feedback from the multistage detector (used in the absence of training sequences) is also shown to be negligible for reasonable feedback error rates using simulations. The proposed iterative channel estimation technique is also extended to track slowly varying multipath fading channels using decision feedback. Thus, an MAI-resistant multiuser channel estimation and tracking scheme with reasonable computational complexity is derived for long-code CDMA systems over multipath fading channels.  相似文献

This paper introduces a multistage interference cancellation (MIC) technique with diversity reception for quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) asynchronous direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS/CDMA) systems over frequency-selective multipath Rayleigh fading channels. Unlike the previous MIC, which tries to remove the lump sum of the multiple-access interference (MAI) and self-interference (SI), this introduced MIC attempts to cancel only the MAI and part of the SI due to the intersymbol interference, while treating the remaining SI created by the current symbol as useful information for symbol decision. In this technique, the RAKE combining is used to collect signal replicas over multiple fading paths. Upper and lower bounds on the bit error probability are derived using a Gaussian approximation and the characteristic function method. Furthermore, effects of channel estimation error on the performance are studied. Analytical and simulation results show that the introduced MIC can provide a performance extremely close to that in an ideal single-user environment and outperforms the previous MIC even in the presence of channel estimation error  相似文献

Multiuser detection (MUD) is a key technique for combating multiple access interference (MAI) in CDMA systems. We propose a simple and effective multiuser receiver, which we refer to as the objective function based multiuser detector (OFMUD). This is a successive multistage joint detector based on the statistical optimization of an objective function. Two objective functions are considered in this paper. The first one is based on a maximum likelihood solution, and the second one is based on the least squared error solution. A key feature of the proposed detector is that among all the K user bits, we update the estimate of one and only one bit (the one that is most likely to be wrong) in every stage. Analytical and numerical results show that significant performance improvement can be achieved compared with the conventional DS/CDMA receiver. At the same time, the near-far problem is alleviated. In addition, it is shown that the proposed receiver can outperform the popular multiuser parallel interference cancellation receiver in most cases with a smaller computational cost  相似文献

The well-known linear decorrelating detector (LDD) for direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems provides near-far resistant performance when the timing of each user is accurately known. Traditional CDMA acquisition techniques suffer from high differences in power levels. The estimation accuracy for a user overwhelmed by stronger ones is likely to be unsatisfactory; at the same time, the interference from a user undergoing acquisition or tracking is not removed by the standard LDD. In this paper, a fully near-far resistant technique for acquisition and tracking for asynchronous CDMA systems applying the LDD is proposed, considering realistic band-limited signals. This technique is based on the adoption of a pair of special sequences equivalent to a dedicated access channel and is shown to provide a relatively fast and robust means to perform channel estimation both in case of single- and multipath channels  相似文献

In this letter, we present a deterministic multiuser code-timing estimator for asynchronous direct-sequence (DS) code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems with aperiodic long spreading codes and band-limited chip waveforms. A key feature of the proposed estimator is that it captures and capitalizes a deterministic structure of the overall interference, namely multi-access interference (MAI) and intersymbol interference (ISI), in the frequency domain. This allows complete interference elimination in a deterministic manner, which is in general more effective and data-efficient than stochastic approaches. Numerical results show that the proposed estimator can achieve fast acquisition; it is also near-far resistant, providing accurate code acquisition for even overloaded systems (i.e., systems with more users than the processing gain) in multipath fading environments.  相似文献

Bandlimited direct‐sequence code division multiple access (DS‐CDMA) attracts much attention for its compact spectrum and the ability to suppress inter‐symbol interference. Among the various bandlimited DS‐CDMA systems available, minimum‐bandwidth DS‐CDMA (MB‐DS‐CDMA) is the only realizable Nyquist rate transmission system. But, MB‐DS‐CDMA only applies to certain kinds of spreading codes. Accordingly, this study proposes a modified DS‐CDMA structure which extends the application of MB‐DS‐CDMA to all common spreading codes at the expense of a negligible reduction in the transmission rate. Additionally, the bit error rate of the proposed schemes adopting either single‐user or multi‐user detection receiver is analyzed and compared with that of the commonly‐used raised‐cosine‐pulsed DS‐CDMA over multipath fading channels. The numerical results show that given a sufficiently large number of users, the bit error rate performance of modified MB‐DS‐CDMA is comparable to that of the raised‐cosine‐pulsed DS‐CDMA scheme; meanwhile, the realizable modified MB‐DS‐CDMA approaches the ultimate transmission rate.  相似文献

本文研究采用BPSK调制、相干PAKE接收的随机访问多码CDMA(RAMC-CDMA)在频率选择性Nakagami多径衰落、噪声信道(MFNC)中的容量性能.建立系统模型后,推导出了多用户条件下接收机输出的条件概率分布及判决平均比特误码率,并以Rayleigh(Nakagami的特例)多径衰落、噪声信道为例,计算了系统容量的数值解.分析表明RAMC-CDMA解决了普通DS-CDMA系统存在的用户可传信息速率受限(过低)的问题,能在不增加射频带宽的前题下为用户提供高峰值速率信息传送,而且保证了容量没有明显下降.文中还对理论分析的关键结果进行了仿真.  相似文献
