Electric field effects have been investigated on the output power of six far-infrared (FIR) laser lines from H12COOH optically-pumped by a CO2 laser with its polarization arranged perpendicular to the Stark field. Optoacoustic signals observed on the pump lines were hardly affected by the applied electric field up to 0.6 kV/cm. By neglecting the electric field effects on the pump transitions, Zeeman laser theory has been applied to the FIR laser transitions. Numerical calculation predicts the observed FIR output power as a function of electric field. Experessions for oscillation frequency and intensity in homogeneous limit are given, which may be applicable to any FIR Stark laser so far as the pump transition is free from electric field effects.  相似文献

An extensive theoretical and experimental analysis of the absorption and emission spectrum of a CH3OH FIR-laser excited by a conventional CO2 laser is presented. Particular interest is devoted to the Stark shifts of the pump and lasing lines and to the electric field dependence of the Fir-laser output of the various lines. The offsets with respect to the exciting radiation and the Stark shifts of the IR absorption (pump) lines are measured by means of the transferred Lamb dip technique. The theoretical behaviours of the Stark patterns are calculated for several choices of the quantum numbers and selection rules involved in the transitions. A large variety of experimental results are reported and compared to theory. Non-linear Stark shifts have been observed for the 37.5μm FIR laser line and for the IR-pump transitions excited by the 9-P(38) and 10-R(38) CO2 laser Lines. Line assignments are proposed and new FIR laser lines are reported.  相似文献

The Far Infrared (FIR) laser Stark spectrum ofSO 2 was investigated using the 337 μm line of the HCN laser. Two distinct families, one originating at low field and the other at high field, were observed. The high field transition is identified as theJ K?1,K+1=225,17←214,18, v2=1 transition. A significant fourth-order Stark shift was observed for this transition in the presence of a large second-order Stark shift. The zero-field frequency of the assigned transition was obtained by accounting for the fourth-order contribution.  相似文献

We report fifty seven CW FIR emissions observed in NH3, by resonant pumping with a CO2 laser. Exact coincidences between IR absorption lines of the gas and emission lines of the CO2 laser have been carried out by Stark tuning. IR frequency shifts, up to 30 GHz, have allowed the pumping of forty three NH3 transitions. These FIR emissions correspond to thirty one different wavelengths in the 50–400 μm range; eighteen ones of them are new emitted wavelengths by pumping with the CO2 laser.  相似文献

By using an acoustooptic modulator we extend the 300 MHz tunability of a waveguide CO2 laser to 480 MHz. The CD3OH was optically pumped by the 10R(32), 10R(34), and 10R(36) CO2 laser lines, and 17 new FIR laser lines were discovered. The Stark effect on previously known FIR laser lines was investigated, and some tentative FIR laser lines assignments are suggested.  相似文献

Data on the influence of the Stark Effect on an optically pumped FIR laser with CH3Cl or CH3Br as active medium are given for various wavelengths. A very simple method for an effective FIR power stabilisation based on the Stark Effect is described. Its working is illustrated with the EPR signal of a 10% diluted DAG sphere.  相似文献

Thirty-nine new submillimetre laser lines in CH2F2 and twelve in CD2Cl2 have been obtained in a Fabry-Perot FIR resonator by optically pumping with a CW12C18O2 laser. The wavelength range obtained for CH2F2 is 126μm to 1091μm and for CD2Cl2 212μm to 774μm. The wavelength measurements are accurate to within 5.10?3. The relative polarisations of the pump laser and the FIR laser output were also determined. Tentative assignments of the IR and FIR transitions were made using existing microwave data.  相似文献

We have investigated the 13CH3I isotopomer of methyl iodide as a source of Far Infrared (FIR) laser radiation using the optical pumping technique. The molecule is pumped by using a pulsed waveguided CO2 laser, driven by a novel all solid state power supply that lases on the 10HP band as well as the regular bands. We discovered and assigned two new FIR laser emissions and we give further spectroscopic information about polarization and pump frequency offset for five already known lines.  相似文献

The sub-THz spectra of CD3OD have been observed in the frequency ranges of 461-486 GHz and 596-610 GHz using the Backward Wave Oscillator based Technique. The 218 transitions of CD3OD are newly assigned to J=31 and K=12 in the first three torsional states (n=2). The assigned lines include several new series of both a-type and b-type transitions. These THz transitions combined with the previous published millimeter-wave (MMW) and microwave (MW) data and recently observed high resolution Fourier transform far infrared (FIR) spectra have been used in a global fit. The data set contains 1320 MW, MMW, SMMW and FIR transitions with n=2, J=31 and K=12. Using the reduced torsion-rotational Hamiltonian with 67 parameters the fit converges with an RMS deviation of 277 kHz for the MW transitions and of 0.00024 cm-1 for the FIR transitions. Thus molecular parameters are well determined. The MW spectrum of CH2DOH (in the range 97.7 -118.0 and 128.5-146.5 GHz) is also presented which will help astronomers for astrophysical detection and theoretical spectroscopists to get further information on torsion-rotation-vibration interaction in an internal rotor with an asymmetric top.  相似文献

The far-infrared laser Stark spectrum of 1,1 difluoroethylene (H2C=CF2) has been investigated with the 311 μm line of the hydrogen cyanide (HCN) laser. Numerous families of absorption lines have been observed for both parallel and perpendicular polarizations up to 60 000 V/cm. Three families of resonances have been identified as J(Ka,Kc) = 41(35,7) ← 40(33,8), 40(36,5) ← 39(34,6) and 43(35,8) ← 42(33,9). The Stark shift for the first two transitions can be adequately explained by quasi-first-order calculations, whereas the Stark shift for the third transition requires second-order corrections. The zero-field frequencies for these transitions have been experimentally determined and are reported with fractional uncertainties up to a few parts in 106.  相似文献

27 new, large offset, FIR laser lines from13CH3OH and one from13CD3OH have been discovered by pumping with a high tunability waveguide CW CO2 laser. Optoacoustic measurements of isotopic methyl alcohol have also been performed and the pump offsets of the new and of previously known lines have been measured and checked. Frequency tunability by Stark effect has been observed for 6 strong lines. Some assignments are discussed.  相似文献

The electroreflectance (ER) spectra in the presence of the modulated electric field have been employed to study the fine structure of a cylindrical GaN quantum dot (QD), including the light hole and heavy hole interband transitions, and the ER spectra exhibit Franz-Keldysh oscillation characteristics with abscissa of energy (EEg). The quantum-confined Stark shift (QCSS) happened when the electric field intensity increased and the light and heavy holes dependent characteristics have been shown. The three-dimensional Schrödinger equation of QD has been calculated within the framework of effective-mass approximation, and the ER indices have been obtained from modulation absorption coefficients using the Seraphin coefficients and the Kramer-Kroning relation.  相似文献

The optoacoustic spectrum of CH3Br around 10 μm band lines of a tunable cw waveguide CO2 laser is investigated. Several new infrared absorptions are observed and most of the correspond ing molecular transitions are assigned. Far infra red laser action is reported by pumping with the same CO2 laser: pump offsets are given using the Transferred Lambs dip (TLD) technique. A new FIR laser emission is obtained and assigned. An optoacoustic Laser Stark spectroscopy technique is used to investigate off resonance infrared tran sitions.  相似文献

The perpendicularv 8 band lying in the 1000–1100 cm?1 region has been studied from infrared and laser Stark, spectra. We were interested in the part of spectrum corresponding to the spectral range of the 9 μm CO2 laser lines. Assignments of rovibrational lines with J'<40 and K'<6 have been made. About 100 Stark resonances have been assigned to 12 rovibrational transitions. Effective molecular constants and dipole moment have been determined with high accuracy. A list of close resonances with CO2 laser lines is given and may be used for optical pumping experiments.  相似文献

Infrared spectra of theV 2 andV 5 bands of CD3Cl have been recorded with a resolution of about 0.015 cm?1 and assigned. Moreover Stark patterns of the trideuterated methyl chloride for two CO2 laser lines with saturated Lamb dips have been analysed. New cascade laser transitions of12CH2F2 at 172.50μm, 208.83μm, 220.44μm, 223.99μm and 250.61μm are reported. A waveguide FIR laser was pumped with a quasi cw12C16O2 laser operating on the 9R32 line. Together with the already known lines at 184.3μm, 196.1μm and 235.9μm, the laser lines can be assigned to rotational transitions in the ν9 vibrational band of12CH2F2 and to refill transitions of the vibrational ground state ν0.  相似文献

With 228 known FIR laser emissions, hydrazine is the most prolific laser active molecules after methanol. But, due to the complexity of its rovibrational spectrum, only a few assignments of hydrizine FIR laser transitions are found in literature. Here we analyze 44 FIR laser lines of hydrazine excited by 20 different CO2 pumps. The pump transitions are compared to available assignments of IR amino-wagging transitions. We propose values for the J and K quantum numbers involved in 41 FIR laser transitions, for 22 of them we give also the symmetry species.  相似文献

In conjunction with the Stark field induced power enhancement in optically pumped far infrared lasers, absorption transitions in a degenerate two level system under the influence of an weak static Stark field have been analyed. A third order theory to the density matrix formalism leads to zero field level crossing signals for absorption in rate equation approximation and in Doppler limit. For fast relaxation among Zeeman sublevels, the zero field level crossing signal arises from population effect. Optoacoustic measurements have been carried out on the ν5,qQ(16,8) absorption line of CH3OH which produces the familiar 119-μm laser with the CO2 9P(36) pump line. The optoacoustic absorption signals observed are well reproduced by the theoretical expression.  相似文献

The FIR power dependence on an applied electric field is carefully investigated for optically pumped lasers. The enhancement effect observed for many laser lines, both "orthogonal" and "parallel," is analyzed as a function of different parameters such as gas pressure, laser threshold, cavity tuning, and transitions selection rules. Measurements of the IR absorption of the gases are also carried out by a Stark optoacoustic technique. Absorption increases are observed at low electric field values. The experimental results disagree with the previously proposed linear Hanle effect explanation. They are explained with the increase in the pump saturation intensity, also detected with the transferred Lamb-dip technique. The combined effects of the absorption increase and of the small-signal gain curve decrease are shown to qualitatively explain the observed FIR enhancement features.  相似文献

We have increased the frequency tunability of our CW waveguide CO2 lasers by means of an acoustooptic amplitude modulator, operating at the fixed frequency of 90 MHz. The up-shifted, or down-shifted, laser optical sideband can be generated independently by adjusting the orientation of the modulator. The efficiency is larger than 50%. The frequency tunability of the CO2 laser around each laser line is thus increased by 180 MHz. To demonstrate the possibilities of this method, a source composed of the above modulator and of a CW, 300 MHz tunable waveguide CO2 laser has been used for the search of new large offset FIR laser lines from optically pumped CH3OH and13CH3OH molecules. As a result 15 and 10 new large offset laser lines were discovered respectively. New assignments of some laser lines are also proposed. We have also measured the Stark effect, the offset, and the polarization of other already known lines. In particular a Stark effect frequency tuning of about 1 GHz is demonstrated for a laser line at 208.399 μm.  相似文献
