The results are presented of an experimental investigation in a liquid cooled Switch-Mode Power Supply (SMPS). The target is a quantitative analysis of the performance of a cooling system designed to dissipate the heat generated by the active and passive electronic components of this SMPS, in order to limit its maximum operational temperature. The active components are cooled with a liquid cold plate. The passive components are cooled with an air flow. The temperature of this airflow is controlled with Peltier cells exchanging heat with the cold plate. Measurements are made of temperature and of electric efficiency of the SMPS. The cooling system is placed in an experimental tool where it is possible to measure and control the cooling liquid flow. A detailed analysis of the thermal behaviour of this cooling system is given. Finally, the practical significance of the problem is discussed.  相似文献

Thermal management issues play an increasingly prominent role in microelectronic system design. The constraints on heat removal are a major factor limiting the performance of a microelectronic system. This work presents the thermodynamic limit of performance for a thermal solution utilizing air cooling to reject thermal energy as the inverse of its mass flow-heat capacity product. The minimum resistance to heat flow offered by a thermal solution is further refined by including the effects of thermal interface materials, substrate materials, and the impact of nonuniform device layer heating. Active cooling solutions may offer additional needed cooling for microelectronics systems, but the system thermal resistances limit its applicability. This work describes the minimum efficiency that an active cooling solution must provide to offer a thermal advantage over passive cooling. This minimum efficiency is dictated by the thermal resistances involved in drawing heat into the active cooler and expelling heat to the ambient environment. Knowledge of the fundamental limitations of thermal solutions gives system designers realistic expectations to set roadmaps, define architecture specifications, and evaluate the validity of thermal system performance claims  相似文献

提出了控制凝水策略,可以大大简化由“防结露”引发的十分复杂的空调冷冻水路及其控制。针对混凝土楼板辐射空调系统的特点,依据实例的实测与分析,证实了该策略应用于混凝土楼板辐射供冷房间是可行的。研究了现有几种复合型吸湿涂料的等温吸湿特性应用于混凝土楼板辐射空调系统,分析带来的额外一次和二次费用收益。  相似文献

The results of theoretical and experimental studies of the time dependences of radiative cooling produced by a pulsed semiconductor source of negative interband luminescence are presented. The kinetics of cooling and subsequent temperature relaxation of the passive element, which depend on the power and duration of the luminescence pulse, are studied. It is shown that the luminescence excitation method employed (the magnetoconcentration effect) makes possible both radiative cooling and heating of the passive element; this is promising for practical applications. The results of a theoretical study are in qualitative agreement with the experimental data. The maximum cooling achieved in the experiment at room temperature is 0.62 K. Fiz. Tekh. Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) modules in power train system of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (HEV/EV) are working in harsh environment and high reliability and long lifetime are required. In this work, reliability enhancement by integrated liquid cooling structure in HEV/EV IGBT module is investigated. The thermal resistance of junction to heat sink can be reduced more than 50% by direct liquid cooling as eliminating thermal grease layer, so both active and passive temperature swings decrease significantly which will enhance module reliability and lifetime. The lifetime of modules with conventional and integrated liquid cooling structures are estimated under mission of standard driving cycles. We found that lifetime is prolonged obviously by direct cooling pin–fin base plate, and the compact module also makes the application power system simple and reliable.  相似文献

The paper shows that heat pipes with metal-fibrous capillary structures and evaporation-condensation cooling system based on heat pipes are highly efficient means of providing optimal thermal conditions for different electronic instruments and devices. Such cooling system combining the functions of effective heating conduit (equivalent heat conductivity is much higher than the heat conductivity of the best heat-conducting materials) and effective radiator with the possibility of passive heat dissipation is characterized by a high heat transport ability, low thermal resistance, relatively small size and weight, reliable performance at different orientation in space under exposure to mass forces action. The paper presents examples of developed designs and investigations of heat pipes and evaporation-condensation systems with metal-fibrous capillary structures aimed at cooling the different heat generating items of electronic equipment. In this case, special types and designs of systems are discussed. These systems operate under different conditions of heat removal to absorbing medium and feature both a high heat transport ability and specific dielectric properties. In addition, the thermotechnical characteristics of proposed cooling systems are also presented.  相似文献
