In this paper, a novel adsorption material PEI/SiO(2) with strong adsorption ability towards heavy-metal ions was prepared. In preparation of PEI/SiO(2), functional macromolecule polyethyleneimine (PEI) was grafted onto the surfaces of silica gel particles via the coupling effect of gamma-chloropropyl trimethoxysilane (CP). The adsorption properties of PEI/SiO(2) for Pb(2+) ion were studied by both static and dynamic methods. The experimental results show that PEI/SiO(2) possesses very strong adsorption ability for Pb(2+) ion, the saturated adsorption amount could reach to 17.5mgg(-1), and the empirical Langmuir isotherm was found to describe well the equilibrium adsorption data. The pH and grafting amount of PEI have great influence on the adsorption amount. The Pb(2+) ions adsorbed on PEI/SiO(2) are eluted easily by diluted hydrochloric acid solution.  相似文献

A new type of adsorbent which is capable of selectively adsorbing lead(II) ions (Pb(2+)) was developed. The adsorbent was generated by reaction of sodium alginate with NB-9000B, a polyisocyanate type of prepolymer of polyurethane. The adsorbent was a hydrophilic and flexible alginate/polyurethane composite foam (ALG/PUCF) with the alginate chemically immobilized in the cell walls of the foam. Acid-base titration was used to quantify the concentration of carboxyl groups, which are present on the alginate molecules of the ALG/PUCF, functioning as the essential sites for binding Pb(2+). For the optimized ALG/PUCF, the carboxyl was found to be 38.2+/-1.2mumol/g of dry weight. The capacity for adsorbing Pb(2+) ions in 1.0g of dry weight of the optimized ALG/PUCF was found to be 16.0+/-2.1mumol, indicating that ion exchange was the essential mechanism for adsorbing Pb(2+) ions. The adsorption capacity was found to be highly sensitive to the pH of the sample solution; lower pH (<3) significantly decreased the adsorption. Competing ions such as Mg(2+), Ca(2+), and Cd(2+) also caused a decrease in selectivity and capacity for Pb(2+) adsorption, although the effect was less pronounced than the effect of pH. The ALG/PUCF is highly stable, flexible and easy to use. ALG/PUCF is also reusable after regeneration with ethylenediamine-N,N,N',N'-tetraacetic acid, disodium salt (EDTA-2Na). Due to these features, this adsorbent may be highly useful for elimination of Pb(2+) ions from contaminated water.  相似文献

In this study, removal of Cu(2+), Cd(2+) and Pb(2+) from aqueous solutions by adsorption onto pyrite and synthetic iron sulphide (SIS) was investigated as a function of pH, contact time, adsorbent dosage, initial metal concentration and temperature. It has been determined that the adsorption of metal ions onto both adsorbents is pH dependent and the adsorption capacities increase with the increasing temperature. The mechanisms governing the metal removal processes were determined as chemical precipitation at low pH (<3) due to H(2)S generation and adsorption at high pH (in the range of 3-6). The metal adsorption yields also increased with the increasing adsorbent dosage and contact time and reached to equilibrium for both adsorbents. The Cu(2+), Cd(2+) and Pb(2+) adsorption capacities of both adsorbents decrease in the order of Pb(2+)>Cu(2+)>Cd(2+). Except for cadmium, little fraction of copper and lead in the solid adsorption residues was desorbed in acidic media.  相似文献

The aim of this work was to synthesis highly amorphous geopolymer from waste coal fly ash, to be used as an adsorbent for lead Pb(II) removal from aqueous wastewater. The effect of various parameters including geopolymer dosage, initial concentration, contact time, pH and temperature on lead adsorption were investigated. The major components of the used ash in the current study were SiO(2), Al(2)O(3) and Fe(2)O(3) representing 91.53 wt% of its mass. It was found that the synthesized geopolymer has higher removal capacity for lead ions when compared with that of raw coal fly ash. The removal efficiency increases with increasing geopolymer dosage, contact time, temperature, and the decrease of Pb(2+) initial concentration. The optimum removal efficiency was obtained at pH 5. Adsorption isotherm study indicated that Langmuir isotherm model is the best fit for the experimental data than Freundlich model. It was found also that the adsorption process is endothermic and more favorable at higher temperatures.  相似文献

Crosslinked carboxymethyl konjac glucomannan (CMKGM) with degrees of substitution (DS) 0.265 and 0.550 were prepared through reaction of monochloroacetic acid (MCA), konjac glucomannan (KGM) and epichlorohydrin and used to adsorb Cu(2+), Pb(2+) and Cd(2+) ions from the aqueous solutions. Regardless of the metal ion species, the adsorption capacity rapidly reached equilibrium within 20min and adsorption followed second-order kinetic equation. The effect of pH on adsorption was apparent, the appropriate range was 5-6. The adsorptions of three metal ions are well followed as the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The maximum adsorption capacity (Q(m)) and Langmuir constant (b) of CMKGM (DS=0.550) for Pb(2+) were 41.7mg/g and 0.305mg/L. These values were higher than those for Cu(2+) and Cd(2+). Among the tested ions, the order of adsorption capacity was Pb(2+)>Cu(2+)>Cd(2+) in mass basis. The regeneration study indicates that CMKGM could be used repeatedly without significantly changing their adsorption capacities and desorption percentage.  相似文献

We report the synthesis of hydroxyapatite/polyacrylamide (HAp/PAAm) composite hydrogels with various HAp contents by free radical polymerization and their removal capability of Pb(2+) ions in aqueous solutions with controlled initial Pb(2+) ion concentrations and pH values of 2-5. The swelling ratio of the composite gels in aqueous solutions decreases with increasing the HAp content in the gels. The composite gel with higher HAp content exhibits the higher removal capacity of Pb(2+) ions owing to the higher adsorption sites for Pb(2+) ions, but shows the slower removal rate of Pb(2+) ions due to the lower degree of swelling. The removal mechanism of Pb(2+) ion is very sensitive to the pH value in aqueous solution, although the removed amount of Pb(2+) ion is nearly same, regardless of pH values of 2-5. The removal mechanism, the dissolution of HAp in the composite gel and subsequent precipitation of hydroxypyromorphite (HPy), is dominant at lower pH 2-3, whereas the mechanism, the adsorption of Pb(2+) ions on the composite gel and following cation exchange reaction between Pb(2+) ions adsorbed and Ca(2+) of HAp, is dominant at higher pH 4-5. The equilibrium removal process of Pb(2+) ions by the composite gels at pH 5 is described well with the Langmuir isotherm model. The equilibrium removal capacities of the composite gels with 30, 50, and 70 wt.% HAp contents are evaluated to be 123, 178, and 209 mg/g, respectively.  相似文献

The potential to remove Cu(2+) and Pb(2+) ion from aqueous solutions through biosorption using barley straw (BS) was investigated in batch experiments. The main parameters influencing Cu(2+) and Pb(2+) ion sorption on BS were: initial metal ion concentration, amount of adsorbent, contact time and pH value of solution. The influences of initial Cu(2+) and Pb(2+) ion concentration (0.1-1mM), pH (2-9), contact time (10-240 min) and adsorbent amount (0.1-1.0 g) have been reported. Equilibrium isotherms have been measured and modelled. The percent adsorption of Cu(2+) and Pb(2+) ions increased with an increase in pH and dosage of treated BS. The biosorptive capacity of the BS was dependent on the pH of Cu(2+) and Pb(2+) ion solution. Adsorption of Cu(2+) and Pb(2+) ion was in all cases pH dependent showing a maximum at equilibrium pH value at 6.0. The equilibrium sorption capacities of Cu(2+) and Pb(2+) after 2h were 4.64 mg/g and 23.20mg/g for BS, respectively. The adsorption data fit well with the Langmuir isotherm model and the experimental result inferred that complexation on surface, adsorption (chemisorption) and ion exchange is one of the major adsorption mechanisms for binding Cu(2+) and Pb(2+) ion to the sorbents.  相似文献

A sensitive and simple method for simultaneous preconcentration of trace heavy metal ions in some food samples has been reported. The method is based on the adsorption of Cr(3+), Fe(3+), Cu(2+), Ni(2+), Co(2+) and Zn(2+) on bis(2-hydroxy acetophenone)ethylendiimine (BHAPED) loaded on activated carbon (AC). The adsorbed metals on activated carbon were eluted using 2 mol L(-1) nitric acid in acetone. The influences of the analytical parameters including pH and sample volume were investigated. The effects of matrix ions on the recoveries of analyte ions were also investigated. The recoveries of analytes were generally higher than 94%. The method has been successfully applied for analysis of the metal contents in real samples including natural water samples.  相似文献

In this study the Pb(2+), Cd(2+) and Zn(2+) adsorption capacity of a natural zeolite was evaluated in batch tests at a constant pH of 5.5 by polluting this mineral with solutions containing increasing concentrations of the three cations to obtain adsorption isotherms. In addition X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) was used to investigate the changes of zeolite structure caused by the exchange with cations of different ionic radius. The zeolite adsorption capacity for the three cations was Zn>Pb>Cd. Moreover a sequential extraction procedure [H(2)O, 0.05 M Ca(NO(3))(2) and 0.02 M EDTA] was applied to zeolite samples used in the adsorption experiments to determine the chemical form of the cations bound to the sorbent. Using this approach it was shown that low concentrations of Pb(2+), Cd(2+) and Zn(2+) were present as water-soluble and exchangeable fractions (<25% of the Me adsorbed), while EDTA extracted most of the adsorbed cations from the zeolite (>27% of the Me adsorbed). The XRD pattern of zeolite, analysed according to the Rietveld method, showed that the main mineralogical phase involved in the adsorption process was clinoptilolite. Besides structure information showed that the incorporation of Pb(2+), Cd(2+) and Zn(2+), into the zeolite frameworks changed slightly but appreciably the lattice parameters. XRD analysis also showed the occurrence of some isomorphic substitution phenomena where the Al(3+) ions of the clinoptilolite framework were replaced by exchanged Pb(2+) cations in the course of the ion exchange reaction. This mechanism was instead less evident in the patterns of the samples doped with Cd(2+) and Zn(2+) cations.  相似文献

Trametes versicolor mycelia were immobilized in carboxymethylcellulose, CMC, beads via entrapment, and the bead containing immobilized fungus spores were incubated at 30 degrees C for 3 days to attain uniform growth on the bead surface. After incubation, the live and heat inactivated immobilized fungus on the CMC beads were used for the biosorption of Cu(2+), Pb(2+) and Zn(2+) ions.Plain CMC beads were used as a control system. The biosorption of Cu(2+), Pb(2+) and Zn(2+) ions by the CMC and both live and inactivated immobilized preparations increased as the initial concentration of Cu(2+), Pb(2+) and Zn(2+) ions in the medium increased. The maximum biosorption capacities for both immobilized live and heat inactivated Trametes versicolor were 1.51 and 1.84mmol Cu(2+), 0.85 and 1.11mmol Pb(2+) and 1.33 and 1.67mmol Zn(2+) per g of dry biosorbents, respectively. Biosorption equilibrium was established in about 1.0h and the equilibrium was well described by Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms. A temperature change in the range of 15-45 degrees C did not affect the biosorption capacity. The affect of pH was also investigated and the maximum adsorption of Cu(2+), Pb(2+) and Zn(2+) ions on the CMC and both live and inactivated immobilized fungal biomass was observed between pH 4.0 and 6.0. The CMC beads with the immobilized fungus can be regenerated using 10mM HCl, with up to 97% recovery of the metal ions; the biosorbents reused up to five biosorption-desorption cycles without any major loss in the biosorption capacity.  相似文献

In this work the adsorption of phenol solutions onto activated carbon Calgon F400 has been studied. The carbon was modified by acid treatment, using soxhlet extraction with hydrochloric acid 2N for 120 cycles. The treatment did not affect significantly the surface area of the activated carbon but affected significatively the different functional groups, and thus its adsorption properties. Tóth model reproduced satisfactorily the experimental isotherm data and an adsorption enthalpy of -17.9 kJ mol-1 was found, which indicates that the process is exothermic. The pH affected significatively to the adsorption process and an empirical polynomial equation was able to reproduce maximum capacity as a function of pH. The isotherms obtained at pH 3 and 7 are very similar and showed a higher adsorption capacity compared with that obtained at pH 13. The use of phosphate buffer solutions decreased the maximum phenol adsorption capacity, due to the competitive adsorption between the phenol and phosphates. Finally, it was demonstrated that the acid treatment introduced chloride ions into the carbon, giving it properties of ion exchanger.  相似文献

The removal of Pb(II) and Pb(II)-citric acid (Pb(II)-CA) from aqueous solutions by sawdust activated carbon (SDAC) was investigated. The higher adsorptive removal of Pb(II) from aqueous solutions containing Pb(II)-CA than Pb(II) only was observed due to the presence of CA in the former system. The mechanism of adsorption process was studied by conducting pH as well as kinetic studies. Batch adsorption experiments were conducted to study the effect of adsorbent dose, initial concentration and temperature for the removal of Pb(II) from Pb(II) only and Pb(II)-CA aqueous systems. The adsorption was maximum for the initial pH in the range of 6.5-8.0 and 2.0-5.0 for Pb(II) and Pb(II)-CA, respectively. The solution pH, zero point charge (pH(zpc)) and species distribution of Pb(II) and Pb(II)-CA were found to play an important role in the adsorption of Pb(II) and Pb(II)-CA onto SDAC from water and wastewaters. SDAC exhibited very high adsorption potential for Pb(II) ions in presence of CA than when Pb(II) ions alone were present. The kinetic and equilibrium adsorption data were well modeled using pseudo-first-order kinetics and Langmuir isotherm model, respectively.  相似文献

Heavy metal removal from aqueous solutions by activated phosphate rock   总被引:2,自引:1,他引:1
The use of natural adsorbent such as phosphate rock to replace expensive imported synthetic adsorbent is particularly appropriate for developing countries such as Tunisia. In this study, the removal characteristics of lead, cadmium, copper and zinc ions from aqueous solution by activated phosphate rock were investigated under various operating variables like contact time, solution pH, initial metal concentration and temperature. The kinetic and the sorption process of these metal ions were compared for phosphate rock (PR) and activated phosphate rock (APR). To accomplish this objective we have: (a) characterized both (PR) and (APR) using different techniques (XRD, IR) and analyses (EDAX, BET-N(2)); and, (b) qualified and quantified the interaction of Pb(2+), Cd(2+), Cu(2+) and Zn(2+) with these sorbents through batch experiments. Initial uptake of these metal ions increases with time up to 1h for (PR) and 2h for (APR), after then, it reaches equilibrium. The maximum sorption obtained for (PR) and (APR) is between pH 2 and 3 for Pb(2+) and 4 and 6 for Cd(2+), Cu(2+) and Zn(2+). The effect of temperature has been carried out at 10, 20 and 40 degrees C. The data obtained from sorption isotherms of metal ions at different temperatures fit to linear form of Langmuir sorption equation. The heat of sorption (DeltaH degrees), free energy (DeltaG degrees) and change in entropy (DeltaS degrees) were calculated. They show that sorption of Pb(2+), Cd(2+), Cu(2+) and Zn(2+) on (PR) and (APR) an endothermic process. These findings are significant for future using of (APR) for the removal of heavy metal ions from wastewater under realistic competitive conditions in terms of initial heavy metals, concentrations and pH.  相似文献

The low-cost activated carbon were prepared from Tamarind wood material by chemical activation with sulphuric acid for the adsorption of Pb(II) from dilute aqueous solution. The activated carbon developed shows substantial capacity to adsorb Pb(II) from dilute aqueous solutions. The parameters studied include physical and chemical properties of adsorbent, pH, adsorbent dose, contact time and initial concentrations. The kinetic data were best fitted to the Lagergren pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second order models. The isotherm equilibrium data were well fitted by the Langmuir and Freundlich models. The maximum removal of lead(II) was obtained 97.95% (experimental) and 134.22 mg/g (from Langmuir isotherm model) at initial concentration 40 mg/l, adsorbent dose 3g/l and pH 6.5. This high uptake showed Tamarind wood activated carbon as among the best adsorbents for Pb(II).  相似文献

A two in one attempt for the removal of tartrazine and metal ions on activated carbon has been developed. The method was based on the modification of activated carbon with tartrazine then its application for the removal of Pb(II), Cd(II) and Cr(III) ions at different pH values. Tartrazine adsorption data were modelled using both Langmuir and Freundlich classical adsorption isotherms. The adsorption capacities qm were 121.3, 67 and 56.7mgg(-1) at initial pH values of 1.0, 6.0 and 10, respectively. The adsorption of tartrazine onto activated carbon followed second-order kinetic model. The equilibrium time was found to be 240min at pH 1.0 and 120min at pH 10 for 500mgL(-1) tartrazine concentration. A maximum removal of 85% was obtained after 1h of contact time. The presence of tartrazine as modifier enhances attractive electrostatic interactions between metal ions and carbon surface. The adsorption capacity for Pb(II), Cd(II) and Cr(III) ions has been improved with respect to non-modified carbon reaching a maximum of 140%. The adsorption capacity was found to be a pH dependent for both modified and non-modified carbon with a greater adsorption at higher pH values except for Cr(III). The enhancement percent of Pb(II), Cd(II) and Cr(III) at different pH values was varied from 28% to 140% with respect to non-modified carbon. The amount of metal ions adsorbed using static regime was 11-40% higher than that with dynamic mode. The difference between adsorption capacities could be attributed to the applied flow rate.  相似文献

We have developed a simple paper-based colorimetric membrane for sensing lead ions (Pb(2+)) in aqueous solutions. The nitrocellulose membrane (NCM) was used to trap bovine serum albumin (BSA) modified 13.3-nm Au nanoparticles (BSA-Au NPs), leading to the preparation of a nanocomposite film of a BSA-Au NP-decorated membrane (BSA-Au NPs/NCM). The BSA-Au NPs/NCM operates on the principle that Pb(2+) ions accelerate the rate of leaching of Au NPs induced by thiosulfate (S(2)O(3)(2-)) and 2-mercaptoethanol (2-ME). The BSA-Au NPs/NCM allowed for the detection of Pb(2+) by the naked eye in nanomolar aqueous solutions in the presence of leaching agents such as S(2)O(3)(2-) and 2-ME. We employed the assistance of microwave irradiation to shorten the reaction time (<10 min) for leaching the Au NPs. Under optimal solution conditions (5 mM glycine-NaOH (pH 10), S(2)O(3)(2-) (100 mM), and 2-ME (250 mM), microwaves (450 W)), the BSA-Au NPs/NCM allowed the detection of Pb(2+) at concentrations as low as 50 pM with high selectivity (at least 100-fold over other metal ions). This cost-effective sensing system allowed for the rapid and simple determination of the concentrations of Pb(2+) ions in real samples (in this case, sea water, urine, and blood samples).  相似文献

In the presented work, 5,5-diphenylimidazolidine-2,4-dione (phenytoin) (DFTD), 5,5-diphenylimidazolidine-2-thione-,4-one (thiophenytoin) (DFID) and 2-(4'-methoxy-benzylidenimine) thiophenole (MBIP) modified activated carbons have been used for the solid phase extraction of copper and lead ions prior to their flame atomic absorption spectrometric determinations. The influences of the various analytical parameters including pH, amounts of reagent, sample volume and eluent type, etc. on the recovery efficiencies of copper and lead ions were investigated. The influences of alkaline, earth alkaline and some transition metals on the adsorption of the analytes were also examined. The detection limits by three sigma for analyte ions were 0.65 and 0.42 microg L(-1) using activated carbon modified with DFID; 0.52 and 0.37 microg L(-1) using activated carbon modified with DFTD and 0.46 and 0.31 microg L(-1) using activated carbon modified with MBIP for Pb(II) and Cu(II), respectively. The procedure was applied to the determination of analytes in natural waters, soil, and blood samples with satisfactory results (recoveries greater than 95%, R.S.D.'s lower than 4%).  相似文献

A column with oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) has been studied as a sorbent for removing and accumulating lead (II) from contaminated Licorice extracts. Under optimized situation, the adsorption capacity of lead (II) on oxidized MWNTs was 17 mg g(-1) at pH 7.0, and the lead (II) was eluted with 10 ml of 1% hydrochloric acid. Additionally, the effects of adsorptive parameters, including pH of the solution, sample volume, flow rates of the sample, matrix ions, and eluent type were investigated for optimization of the presented procedure. A fluorescence spectrophotometer was employed to determine the contents of lead (II). High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was developed for the quantitative determination of main constituents of Licorice extracts. Oxidized MWNT cartridges were used to remove lead ions from contaminated Licorice extracts, high adsorption capacity, adsorption reversibility of lead (II), and low loss of major constituents. The results suggested that the oxidized MWNT column has the potential to remove heavy metal ions from herbal extracts.  相似文献
