The melting temperature of nylon 12 is lower than the degradation temperature of wood, which makes the preparation of wood‐(nylon 12) composites through a regular compounding/compression molding process possible. Results indicated that wood‐(nylon 12) composites had higher modulus of rupture, higher modulus of elasticity, and higher tensile strength than nylon 12, wood‐polypropylene (PP) composites, and wood‐high density polyethylene (HDPE) composites, respectively. Wood‐(nylon 12) composites also had higher thermal stability than wood‐PP composites and wood‐HDPE composites. Acting as a nucleating agent, wood increased the crystallization temperature and the degree of crystallinity of nylon 12 in wood‐(nylon 12) composites. The superior mechanical properties of wood‐(nylon 12) composites were ascribed to the good interfacial adhesion between wood and nylon 12 and the increased transcrystallinity of nylon 12 by wood. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Pulverized wood biomass utilization technologies, such as gasification and liquefaction, were discussed. Firstly, pulverization technique of wood biomass by a vibration mill was introduced, and pulverized wood biomass characteristics were evaluated. The wood powder pulverized by the vibration mill had a round shape, and the wood fibers were completely broken. Therefore, the diameter of wood powder was fine and the crystallinity of cellulose was very low. By using this pulverized wood biomass, high temperature gasification experiment and liquefaction experiment were conducted. Gasification experiment was conducted in an entrained down flow gasifire. Since fine wood powder had a high reactivity, the gasification experiment showed the high gasification performance without a tar generation. Liquefaction experiment of wood biomass was conducted in a hot compressed water to produce saccharine. Pulverized wood biomass was also used as a raw material in the liquefaction experiment. By using very fine wood powder, productivity of saccharine increased dramatically.  相似文献

The effects of wood fiber content on the void fraction, cell morphology, and notched Izod impact strength of microcellular foamed HDPE/PP blend composites with wood fiber were studied. The influence of wood fiber content on the carbon dioxide adsorption and desorption in the samples was also examined. Adsorption of carbon dioxide decreased with increased wood fiber content. Gas diffusion rates were faster as wood fiber content increased. The void fraction decreased dramatically when wood fiber was introduced in the blend. Environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) was used to investigate the effects of wood fiber content on cell morphology. The 30:70 HDPE/PP polymer blend without wood fiber resulted in a high void fraction, with a uniform and well-developed microcellular structure, but when wood fiber was introduced, a uniform and well-developed microcellular structure could not be produced. The effects of foaming on Izod impact strength were dependent on wood fiber content.  相似文献

In order to obtain a bonded wood product from the tree, wood must be subjected to a series of processes. These include, among others, vital processes like drying of the green wood and machining of the surfaces of the dried wood in preparation for bonding. However, when wood is machined with dull blades, thermal degradation of the wood frequently occurs. The effects of kiln drying and thermal degradation of wood on the performance of the adhesive joints subsequently formed from such wood were investigated. Tapered double cantilever beam (TDCB) test specimens obtained from hard maple and phenol–resorcinol–formaldehyde (PRF) adhesives were used in the investigations. The enhancement of fracture energy due to the reduction in the moisture content of wood, the improved performance of adhesive joints due to rejointing of wood surfaces before bonding, and the reduction of adhesive joint strength resulting from thermal degradation of wood are presented and discussed.  相似文献

以聚乙烯为基体,分别与木片、木质纤维、木质纤维粉制备了聚乙烯基木塑复合材料。分别利用液体石蜡、甲基丙烯酸甲酯、NaOH乙醇溶液、邻苯二甲酸酐乙醇溶液、H2O2乙醇溶液对木片、木质纤维、木质纤维粉进行预处理,并考察了相应木塑复合材料的拉伸强度和胶合强度。结果表明:邻苯二甲酸酐乙醇溶液和H2O2乙醇溶液对木材表面改性处理效果较为明显,相应的木塑复合材料的拉伸强度和胶合强度也更高;与木质纤维粉和木片相比,木质纤维与聚乙烯具有更好的相容性;当木质纤维质量分数为30%时,采用H2O2乙醇溶液预处理后,木塑复合材料的拉伸强度为28.2 MPa,胶合强度为8.68 MPa;利用邻苯二甲酸酐乙醇溶液预处理后,木塑复合材料的拉伸强度为26.7 MPa,胶合强度为7.92 MPa。  相似文献

Abstract

All loblolly pine trees, especially the juvenile portion, contain various amounts of compression wood. The morphological, chemical, and papermaking properties of compression wood are distinctively different from those of normal juvenile wood and mature wood. Compression wood has higher lignin and galactan, but lower cellulose and mannan content, shorter average fiber length, lower fiber width but thicker cell wall, higher fiber coarseness and higher microfibril angles as compared with the corresponding normal wood. Micro analytical methods have been developed to quantitatively determine the percentage of compression wood in an incremental core so as to eliminate the effects of compression wood on the aforementioned properties. This enables accurate quantitative genetic analyses of these properties for tree breeding programs.  相似文献
