More and more, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will rely on concepts from autonomous systems not only in mission control centers on the ground, but also on spacecraft and on rovers and other space assets on extraterrestrial bodies. Autonomy facilitates not only reduced operations costs, but also adaptable goal-driven functionality of mission systems. Space missions lacking autonomy will be unable to achieve the full range of advanced mission objectives, given that human control under dynamic environmental conditions will not be feasible due, in part, to the unavoidably high signal propagation latency and constrained data rates of mission communications links. While autonomy supports cost-effective accomplishment of mission goals, autonomicity supports survivability of remote mission assets, especially when tending by humans is not feasible. In principle, the properties of autonomic systems may enable space missions of a higher order than any previously flown. Analysis of two NASA agent-based systems previously prototyped, and of a proposed future mission involving numerous cooperating spacecraft, illustrates how autonomous and autonomic system concepts may be brought to bear on future space missions.  相似文献

The most objective manner in which to measure the ability of a system to perform against a specified mission is to estimate the average probability of successfully completing that mission. This probability of success is defined as the Mission Effectiveness of the system. In general, when specifications are stated for military or space application equipment, the reliability aspect far outweighs all other considerations when in reality it is only one important factor in the ability of the system to complete a satisfactory performance of its assigned mission. In this paper the importance of other factors are illustrated by developing a model which estimates mission effectiveness. This model is developed for a system which undergoes scheduled checkout and up-dating after relatively long standby periods during which it is expected to respond to a random demand. The effects upon mission effectiveness of noninstantaneous and imperfect failure detection and repair are considered, as well as system accuracy. The model for the mission as described is found to be a Markov Chain with one absorbing barrier. The advantage of this type of model is that once the first transition matrix is derived, the factors that enter into mission effectiveness can be readily and automatically extracted. The principal result of the paper is in demonstrating the application of this technique to generate a realistic system model for mission effectiveness. This technique is quite general and as such is applicable to most types of military and space missions.  相似文献

A next-generation deep-space network is currently under consideration by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Building upon its many past successes, this network will be required to meet the needs of current and planned missions. These will, no doubt, include the familiar suite of telemetry, command, tracking, and navigation services, with performance levels derived from analysis of the probable future mission set. Additionally, it will be expected to provide enabling capabilities for missions still on the drawing boards. Traditionally, the network serves the robotic deep-space exploration fleet. However, at this time, consideration of the special needs of planned future human lunar missions is appropriate, as well as the evolution to the eventual human exploration of Mars.  相似文献

飞行显示控制计算机是飞行员高效、直观地获取所需信息或发送控制命令的操作平台,其任务可靠性对飞机飞行安全至关重要,一旦失效将会造成系统部分或全部功能丧失,尽管不会直接危及飞行员人机安全,但会严重影响飞行和作战任务的完成。因而本设计采用了双余度设计方法,有效提高了任务可靠性、降低了失效风险,具备一定的工程实用价值。  相似文献

In April and October, 1994 the X-SAR was flown as part of the SIR-C/X-SAR space radar laboratory missions (SRL-1/2) on the Space Shuttle. Amongst other activities DLR is responsible for the calibration of all X-SAR data products and is running the German Processing and Archiving Facility (D-PAF). Calibration activities included three major parts. Before the first mission, the authors performed a detailed analysis of the overall system to localize the main error sources and developed algorithms and procedures to correct these errors. During the missions they concentrated their efforts on calibration campaigns at the Oberpfaffenhofen super test site. Post mission activities included the determination of the antenna pattern and the absolute calibration factor as well as detailed performance analyses. This paper describes the overall approach to radiometrically calibrate the X-SAR and provides information on system performance and data quality to users in the different application fields  相似文献

深空探测是指对月球以及月球以远的天体或者空间环境开展的探测活动,深空探测领域是我国实现航天强国战略的重要组成部分,也是标志性领域之一。文中概要总结了深空探测60多年来的发展历程,重点介绍了我国深空探测取得的成就和未来发展的趋势,针对我国开展的探月工程和首次火星探测任务,分析了各次任务已取得的技术突破,围绕月球及深空探测后续任务规划,对月球科研站建立、小行星探测、火星取样返回以及木星系探测等任务的关键技术进行了探讨。在此基础上归纳总结了我国深空探测技术的发展路线以及未来需重点研究和攻克的关键技术。  相似文献
