The output voltages of a ratio transformer are defined at open-circuit coaxial connectors. A special socket and a difference transformer, wound with coaxial cable, are used to construct a voltage comparator accurate to 1 in 1010. Subdivided transformers are calibrated by comparing the voltage difference between taps with that of an isolated winding on the same transformer. The application of a readily assembled comparator circuit, previously used in the comparison calibration of inductive and resistive voltage dividers, has been extended to cover the comparison of impedance standards. As an example requiring the most stringent performance from the circuit, the comparison of four-terminal inductance standards and their absolute determination in terms of the unit of capacitance have been studied. A data-reduction procedure has been devised to utilize a partial set of pair-wise comparison measurements to establish the absolute scale of inductance from 10 henrys to 500 ?H. A realistic assessment of system errors has been incorporated in the data reduction, which establishes the absolute accuracy at approximately 0.003 percent over the whole range. Determination of the quality factor Q of the inductors to better than 0.2 percent has also resulted from these measurements, principally at 1 kHz. 相似文献

We extended earlier results [J. Opt. Soc. Am. A 16, 2625 (1999)] to examine how the responses of the three postreceptoral mechanisms are combined to subserve discrimination of suprathreshold stimuli. Test thresholds were obtained in the presence of suprathreshold pedestals selected in different quadrants of the red-green/luminance and blue-yellow/luminance planes of cardinal color space. We showed that (1) test threshold was directly proportional to pedestal contrast for pedestal contrasts exceeding five times pedestal contrast threshold, and (2) there were exceptions to this proportionality, notably when the test and pedestal directions were fixed in the cardinal directions. Results support a ratio model of suprathreshold color-luminance discrimination, in which discrimination depends on a ratio of outputs of the postreceptoral mechanisms. We also observed that when test threshold was measured as a function of test color-space direction, masking by the achromatic component of the pedestal was less than that by the chromatic component. In addition, masking by a dark (negative luminance component) pedestal was lower than masking by a light (positive luminance) pedestal of a similar contrast. Our results demonstrated that (1) there is no fundamental difference between discrimination in the isoluminant and in the two chromoluminant cardinal planes, (2) there exists the possibility that discrimination in cardinal directions differs from that in noncardinal (intermediate) directions, and (3) suprathreshold discrimination of luminance differences may be more sensitive than that of chromatic differences for a given suprathreshold pedestal. 相似文献

Abstract Holograms for potential use as optical interconnects in micro-electronic circuits can be recorded optically by either sequential or simultaneous exposures. It is desirable that these holograms have the highest possible diffraction efficiency. In this paper, we investigate the role of the beam ratio, in both recording modes, in achieving the maximum diffraction efficiency. In the study to determine the optimum beam ratio that is needed in order to obtain the maximum diffraction efficiency on reconstruction, it is usually assumed that either the reference beam intensity, the total object beam intensity, or the average light intensity have been fixed and that the interference fringes have the highest theoretically possible contrast. According to the properties of volume phase holograms, we suggest that the total intensity of all the component beams should be the fixed parameter and that the main refractive index modulation should reach a maximum.
