For sequential circuit path delay testing, we propose a new update rule for state variables whereby flipflops are updated with their correct values provided they are destinations of at least one robustly activated path delay fault. Existing algorithms in the literature, for robust fault simulation and test generation, assign unknown values to off-path latches that have non-steady signals at their inputs in the previous vector. Such procedures are pessimistic and predict low fault coverages. They also have an adverse effect on the execution time of fault simulation especially if the circuit has a large number of active paths. The proposed update rule avoids these problems and yet guarantees robustness.  相似文献

The test path of solder joint intermittent connection faults under direct-current stimulus is examined in this paper. According to the physical structure of the circuit, a network model is established first. A network node is utilised to represent the test node. The path edge refers to the number of intermittent connection faults in the path. Then, the selection criteria of the test path based on the node degree index are proposed and the solder joint intermittent connection faults are covered using fewer test paths. Finally, three circuits are selected to verify the method. To test if the intermittent fault is covered by the test paths, the intermittent fault is simulated by a switch. The results show that the proposed method can detect the solder joint intermittent connection fault using fewer test paths. Additionally, the number of detection steps is greatly reduced without compromising fault coverage.  相似文献

C-testable iterative logic arrays for cell-delay faults are proposed. A cell delay fault occurs if and only if an input transition can not be propagated to the cell's output through a path in the cell in a specified clock period. The set of single-path propagation, hazard-free robust tests that completely check all the paths in a cell is first derived, and then necessary conditions for sending this test set to each cell in the array and simultaneously propagating the fault effects to the primary outputs are given. Test set minimization can be solved in a similar way as for the fault cover problem. We use the pipelined array multiplier as an example, and show that it is C-testable with 214 two-pattern tests. With a small number of additional patterns, all the combinational faults can be detected pseudoexhaustive.  相似文献

We propose a new path delay fault model called the transition path delay fault model. This model addresses the following issue. The path delay fault model captures small extra delays, such that each one by itself will not cause the circuit to fail, but their cumulative effect along a path from inputs to outputs can result in faulty behavior. However, non-robust tests for path delay faults may not detect situations where the cumulative effect of small extra delays is sufficient to cause faulty behavior after any number of extra delays are accumulated along a subpath. Under the new path delay fault model, a path delay fault is detected when all the single transition faults along the path are detected by the same test. This ensures that if the accumulation of small extra delays along a subpath is sufficient to cause faulty behavior, the faulty behavior will be detected due to the detection of a transition fault at the end of the subpath. We discuss the new model and present experimental results to demonstrate its viability as an alternative to the standard path delay fault model. We describe an efficient fault simulation procedure for this model. We also describe test generation procedures. An efficient test generation procedure we discuss combines tests for transition faults along the target paths in order to obtain tests that satisfy the requirements of the new model.  相似文献

Some false paths are caused by redundant stuck-at faults. Removal of those stuck-at faults automatically eliminates such false paths from the circuit. However, there are other false paths that are not associated with any redundant stuck-at fault. All segments of such a false path are shared with other testable paths. We focus on the elimination of this type of false paths. We use a non-enumerative path delay fault simulator based on the path status graph (PSG) data-structure, which duplicates selected gates to separate the detected and undetected path delay faults. The expanded circuit may contain new redundant stuck-at faults, corresponding to those undetected paths that are false. This happens because the expanded circuit has some new interconnects with only false paths passing through them. Such links become the sites for redundant stuck-at faults. Removal of these redundant faults eliminates false paths. The reported results show that the quality of the result may depend on the coverage of testable paths by the vectors that are simulated. When non-enumerative path delay simulation and implication-based redundancy removal techniques are used, the present procedure of false-path elimination can be applied to very large circuits.  相似文献

We propose a resynthesis method that modifies a given circuit to reduce the number of paths in the circuit and thus improve its path delay fault testability. The resynthesis procedure is based on replacing subcircuits of the given circuit by structures called comparison units. A subcircuit can be replaced by a comparison unit if it implements a function belonging to the class of comparison functions defined here. Comparison units are fully testable for stuck-at faults and for path delay faults. In addition, they have small numbers of paths and gates. These properties make them effective building blocks for resynthesis to improve the path delay fault testability of a circuit. Experimental results demonstrate considerable reductions in the number of paths and increased path delay fault testability. These are achieved without increasing the number of gates, or the number of gates along the longest path in the circuit. The random pattern testability for stuck-at faults remains unchanged  相似文献

It has been shown earlier that, if we are restricted to unate gate network (UGN) realizations, there exist universal test sets for Boolean functions. Such a test set only depends on the function f, and checks any UGN realization of f for all multiple stuck-at faults and all robustly testable stuck-open faults. In this paper, we prove that these universal test sets are much more powerful than implied by the above results. They also constitute complete delay fault test sets for arbitrary UGN implementations of a given function. This is even true for UGN networks which are not completely testable with respect to the gate or path delay fault model. Our ability to prove the temporal correctness of such circuit realizations comes from the fact that we do not argue the correctness of individual paths, but rather complete path systems  相似文献

In this paper hardware and software aspects of the AGA6000 are described. The AGA6000 is the first member of a new family of Philips gate arrays. It is a high-speed double-layer metal gate array in which special flip-flop rows are implemented. These flip-flop rows automatically insert a scan path in a gate array design. A scan-path test vector generation program guarantees a complete hardware testing of the devices with a 100-percent fault coverage for single stuck-at-one/stuck-at-zero faults. To assess the effectiveness of a testing strategy for an integrated circuit, the potential structural faults in a circuit must be modelled. Analogue fault simulation is conventionally done at the transistor level. Behavioural fault models are desirable to speed up the simulations. Behavioural fault modelling needs faults to be grouped. However, it is not easy to group faults using a Euclidean measurement of the distance between faults, if the populations of the circuit faults have distributions with differing variances. Mutual information theory is suggested here as a robust method for clustering circuit faults. The bootstrap technique is proposed to speed up the process of generating statistical data. Statistical data on the performance of circuits under fault conditions is generated using HSPICE. A software program has been written to implement clustering of responses using mutual information theory and to generate statistical data using bootstrap. The technique is shown to generate a suitable set of parameters for a regression function. The simulation results for the behavioural models are close to those of the full circuit model. Mutual information theory is a useful technique for clustering responses of circuits under fault conditions.  相似文献

A differential algorithm for concurrent simulation of path delay faults in sequential circuits is presented. The simulator analyzes all three conditions, namely, initialization, signal transition propagation through the path, and fault effect observation at a primary output for vector pairs and considers the hazard states occurring between vectors. The main contribution is in methods of propagating signals between time frames. An optimistic method assumes that all nondestination flip-flops are not affected by delays. The pessimistic method converts all nondestination flip-flops with nonsteady values to the unknown state before these values are propagated beyond the time frame in which a path is activated. A 13-valued algebra is shown to improve the efficiency of fault simulation  相似文献

Electric motor and power electronics-based inverter are the major components in industrial and automotive electric drives. In this paper, we present a model-based fault diagnostics system developed using a machine learning technology for detecting and locating multiple classes of faults in an electric drive. Power electronics inverter can be considered to be the weakest link in such a system from hardware failure point of view; hence, this work is focused on detecting faults and finding which switches in the inverter cause the faults. A simulation model has been developed based on the theoretical foundations of electric drives to simulate the normal condition, all single-switch and post-short-circuit faults. A machine learning algorithm has been developed to automatically select a set of representative operating points in the (torque, speed) domain, which in turn is sent to the simulated electric drive model to generate signals for the training of a diagnostic neural network, fault diagnostic neural network (FDNN). We validated the capability of the FDNN on data generated by an experimental bench setup. Our research demonstrates that with a robust machine learning approach, a diagnostic system can be trained based on a simulated electric drive model, which can lead to a correct classification of faults over a wide operating domain.  相似文献

Linear logic circuits are used extensively in digital computing and signal processing systems. They are constructed as regular arrays (for example as cascade or tree circuits), employing linear gates such as Exclusive OR (EOR) and Exclusive NOR (ENOR) gates. Earlier studies on fault diagnosis in linear logic circuits were based on the classical fault model of line stuck-at faults. Transistor stuck-open (SOP) and stuck-on (SON) faults in linear circuits were studied recently, but the effect of signal transients due to circuit delays and time skews in input changes were not considered in the derivation of test sequences. These latter factors are known to cause invalidation of two pattern tests for stuck-open faults. In this article we consider the problem of generating robust tests for linear logic circuits. These tests are not affected by circuit transients caused by delays. A major finding in this paper is that, if the test invalidation problem is redressed by introducing robust tests, the test length becomes a linear function of the depth of the circuit as opposed to the constant number of tests derived in previous studies, by neglecting circuit transients. A lower bound on minimum number of distinct test patterns needed for a tree of EOR gates of depthd is derived. This number depends on the specific implementation of the gate. Robust test-generation procedures are proposed for both single and multiple fault models and their optimalities are argued. Given that every gate in a parity tree is robustly testable, a test sequence that can test for all faults in the circuit, regardless of the nature of gate implementation, is calleduniversal robust test sequence for a parity tree. Finally we propose an optimal universal robust test sequence.  相似文献

根据模拟电路故障诊断中的测前模拟诊断SBT法,本文采用PSpice对待测电路CUT故障进行模拟仿真,通过小波包分析和信息熵方法提取故障电路输出信号的特征向量,利用Matlab设计的神经网络算法构建故障分类器并对电路故障进行识别与诊断。仿真实验结果表明将PSpice与Matlab相结合的诊断方法能够有效地诊断模拟电路故障,为模拟电路故障诊断的教学和科研提供参考。  相似文献

This paper introduces an implicit version of the well-known deductive fault simulation technique suitable to delay fault models with an exponential number of faults. The proposed method calculates the fault coverage by generating lists of entities for each line during a single topological circuit traversal. Each stored entity only contains a number and a subset of the test vectors. No delay faults are stored, and no special data structures are required. There are significant differences between the presented implicit method and fault coverage using deductive fault simulation. The method is shown to be effective for delay the path and segment delay fault models.  相似文献

In this paper, the problem of increasing reliability of active control procedure is considered. Indeed, a design method of rejection perturbation in presence of potentially faults, on a flexible structure with integrated piezo-ceramics, is presented. The piezo-ceramics are used as actuators and sensors. A single unit based solution, which handles both control action and fault diagnosis is proposed. The algorithm uses H optimization techniques. A full order model of the structure is first obtained via both finite-element (FE) approach and identification procedure. This model is then reduced in order to be used in our robust approach. By a suitable choice of weightings functions, the provided method is able to reject disturbance robustly and to estimate occurred faults. The case of sensors and actuators faults is discussed. The choice of weightings for diagnosis and control systems is also tackled. Finally, the effectiveness of this integrated method is confirmed by both simulation and experimental results.  相似文献

Fault simulation is an accepted part of the test generation procedure for digital circuits. With complex analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits, such techniques must now be extended. Analog simulation is slow and fault simulation can be prohibitively expensive because of the large number of potential faults. We describe how the number of faults to be simulated in an analog circuit can be reduced by fault collapsing, and how the simulation time can be reduced by behavioral modeling of fault-free and faulty circuit blocks. These behavioral models can be implemented in SPICE or in VHDL-AMS and we discuss the merits of each approach. VHDL-AMS does potentially offer advantages in tackling this problem, but there are a number of computational difficulties to be overcome.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new test scheme, oscillation ring test, and its associated test circuit organization for delay fault testing for high performance microprocessors. For this test scheme, the outputs of the circuit under test are connected to its inputs to form oscillation rings and test vectors which sensitize circuit paths are sought to make the rings oscillate. High speed transition counters or oscillation detectors can then be used to detect whether the circuit is working normally or not. The sensitizable paths of oscillation rings cover all circuit lines, detecting all gate delay faults, a large part of hazard free robust path delay faults and all the stuck-at faults. It has the advantage of testing the circuit at the working speed of the circuit. Also, with some modification, the scheme can also be used to measure the maximum speed of the circuit. The scheme needs minimal simple added hardware, thus ideal for testing, embedded circuits and microprocessors.  相似文献

We propose a new coverage metric for delay fault tests. The coverage is measured for each line with a rising and a falling transition, but the test criterion differs from that of the slow-to-rise and slow-to-fall transition faults. A line is tested by a line delay test, which is a robust path delay test for the longest sensitizable path producing a given transition on the target line. Thus, the test criterion resembles path delay test and not the gate or transition delay test. Yet, the maximum number of tests (or faults) is limited to twice the number of lines. In a two-pass test-generation procedure, we first attempt delay tests for a minimal set of longest paths for all lines. Fault simulation is used to determine the coverage metric. For uncovered lines, in the second pass, several paths of decreasing lengths are targeted. We give results for several benchmark circuits  相似文献

We propose a new coding method of limited global fault information in an n-cube. First, each node collects precise fault information within distance-d, and then fault information about nodes that are more than distance-d away is coded in a special way. Specifically, in our approach, each node in a cube-based multicomputer of dimension n is associated with an extended safety vector of n bits. In the extended safety vector model, each node knows fault information within distance-2; fault information outside distance-2 is coded in a special way based on the coded information of its neighbors. The extended safety vector of each node can be easily calculated through n-1 rounds of information exchanges among neighboring nodes. Therefore, each extended safety vector is an approximated measure of the number & distribution of faults in the neighborhood. Optimal unicasting between two nodes is guaranteed if the kth bit of the safety vector of the source node is one, where k is the Hamming distance between the source & destination nodes. In addition, the extended safety vector can be used as a navigation tool to direct a message to its destination through a minimal path. A simulation study has been conducted based on different selections of d, and results have shown a significant improvement under the proposed model over the safety vector model in handling link faults, even for a small value of d as in the extended safety vector model where d=2.  相似文献

Occurrence of faults in Network on Chip (NoC) is inevitable as the feature size is continuously decreasing and processing elements are increasing in numbers. Faults can be revocable if it is transient. Transient fault may occur inside router, or in the core or in communication wires. Examples of transient faults are overflow of buffers in router, clock skew, cross talk, etc.. Revocation of transient faults can be done by retransmission of faulty packets using oblivious or adaptive routing algorithms. Irrevocable faults causes non-functionality of segment and mainly occurs during fabrication process. NoC reliability increases with the efficient routing algorithms, which can handle the maximum faults without deadlock in network. As transient faults are temporary and can be easily revoked using retransmission of packet, permanent faults require efficient routing to route the packet by bypassing the nonfunctional segments. Thus, our focus is on the analysis of adaptive minimal path fault tolerant routing to handle the permanent faults. Comparative analysis between partial adaptive fault tolerance routing West-First, North-Last, Negative-First, Odd Even, and Minimal path Fault Tolerant routing (MinFT) algorithms with the nodes and links failure is performed using NoC Interconnect RoutinG and Application Modeling simulator (NIRGAM) for the 2D Mesh topology. Result suggests that MinFT ensures data transmission under worst conditions as compared to other adaptive routing algorithms.  相似文献
