In order to solve the problem of large overpotential in water electrolysis for hydrogen production, transition metal sulfides are promising bifunctional electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction/oxygen evolution reaction that can significantly reduce overpotential. In this work, Ni3S2 and amorphous MoSx nanorods directly grown on Ni foam (Ni3S2-MoSx/NF) were prepared via one-step solvothermal process, which were used as a high-efficient electrocatalyst for overall water splitting. The Ni3S2-MoSx/NF composite exhibits very low overpotentials of 65 and 312 mV to reach 10 mA cm−2 and 50 mA cm−2 in 1.0 M KOH for HER and OER, respectively. Besides, it exhibits a low Tafel slope (81 mV dec−1 for HER, 103 mV dec−1 for OER), high exchange current density (1.51 mA cm−2 for HER, 0.26 mA cm−2 for OER), and remarkable long-term cycle stability. This work provides new perspective for further the development of highly effective non-noble-metal materials in the energy field.  相似文献

Exploring inexpensive and earth-abundant electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reactions is crucial in electrochemical sustainable chemistry field. In this work, a high-efficiency and inexpensive non-noble metal catalysts as alternatives to hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) was designed by one-step hydrothermal and two-step electrodeposition method. The as-prepared catalyst is composed of the synergistic MoS2–Co3S4 layer decorated by ZnCo layered double hydroxides (ZnCo-LDH), which forms a multi-layer heterostructure (ZnCo/MoS2–Co3S4/NF). The synthesized ZnCo/MoS2–Co3S4/NF exhibits a small overpotential of 31 mV and a low Tafel plot of 53.13 mV dec?1 at a current density of 10 mA cm?2, which is close to the HER performance of the overpotential (26 mV) of Pt/C/NF. The synthesized ZnCo/MoS2–Co3S4/NF also has good stability in alkaline solution. The excellent electrochemical performance of ZnCo/MoS2–Co3S4/NF electrode originates from its abundant active sites and good electronic conductivity brought by the multilayer heterostructure. This work provides a simple and feasible way to design alkaline HER electrocatalysts by growing heterostructures on macroscopic substrates.  相似文献

Seawater electrolysis has become an efficient method which makes full use of natural resources to produce hydrogen. However, it suffers high energy cost and chloride corrosion. Herein, we first present a Ni2P/Co(PO3)2/NF heterostructure in which Co(PO3)2 with the nano-rose morphology in-situ grown on the rough Ni2P/NF. The unique 3D nano-rose structure and the optimized electronic structure of the heterostructure enable Ni2P/Co(PO3)2/NF super-hydrophilic and super-aerophobic characteristics, and highly facilitate hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) kinetics in alkaline fresh water, alkaline seawater and even industrial wastewater at large current density, which is rarely reported. Significantly, at large current densities, Ni2P/Co(PO3)2/NF only requires overpotentials of 217 and 307 mV for HER to achieve 1000 mA cm−2 in alkaline fresh water and alkaline seawater, respectively, and requires an overpotential of 469 mV for HER to deliver 500 mA cm−2 in industrial wastewater. Furthermore, the overall seawater splitting system in the two-electrode electrolyzer only requires voltage of 1.98 V to drive 1000 mA cm−2, which also demonstrates significant durability to keep 600 mA cm−2 for at least 60 h. This study opens a new avenue of designing high efficiency electrocatalysts for hydrogen production at large current densities in alkaline seawater and industrial wastewater.  相似文献

The development of cheap, efficient, and active non-noble metal electrocatalysts for total hydrolysis of water (oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER)) is of great significance to promote the application of water splitting. Herein, a heterogeneous structured electrode based on FeAlCrMoV high-entropy alloy (HEA) was synthesized as a cost-effective electrocatalyst for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions in alkaline media. In combination of the interfacial synergistic effect and the high-entropy coordination environment, flower-like HEA/MoS2/MoP exhibited the excellent HER and OER electrocatalytic performance. It showed a low overpotential of 230 mV at the current density of 10 mA cm−2 for OER and 148 mV for HER in alkaline electrolyte, respectively. Furthermore, HEA/MoS2/MoP as both anode and cathode also exhibited an overpotential of 1.60 V for overall water splitting. This work provides a new strategy for heterogeneous structure construction and overall water splitting based on high-entropy alloys.  相似文献

Developing efficient and cost-effective transition metal-based electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is crucial to generate clean and renewable hydrogen energy. The construction of hybrid catalysts with multiple active sites is an effective approach to promote catalytic performance. Herein, a molybdenum disulfide (MoS2)-based hybrid with N-doped carbon wrapped CoFe alloy (MoS2/CoFe@NC) was synthesized through a typical hydrothermal method. The MoS2/CoFe@NC exhibits excellent electrocatalytic performance with overpotentials of 172 mV for HER and 337 mV for OER at 10 mA cm−2, and long-term stability of 24-h electrolytic reaction in 1 M KOH solution. The chemical coupling between MoS2 and CoFe@NC provides improved electronic structures and more accessible active sites. The CoFe@NC substrate accelerates the charge transfer to MoS2 through a synergistic effect. This work demonstrates that the CoFe@NC is a promising substrate for depositing MoS2 nanosheets (NSs) to achieve excellent catalytic performance for both HER and OER.  相似文献

Developing robust non-noble catalysts towards hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is vital for large-scale hydrogen production from electrochemical water splitting. Here, we synthesize Sn- and Fe-containing sulfides and oxyhydroxides anchored on nickel foam (SnFeSxOy/NF) using a solvothermal method, in which a heterostructure is generated between the sulfides and oxyhydroxides. The SnFeSxOy/NF exhibits low overpotentials of 85, 167, 249, and 324 mV at 10, 100, 500 and 1000 mA cm?2 for the HER, respectively, and a low overpotential of only 281 mV at 100 mA cm?2 for the OER. When it serves as both anode and cathode to assemble an electrolyzer, the cell voltage is only 1.69 V at 50 mA cm?2. The sulfides should be the efficient active species for the HER, while the oxyhydroxides are highly active for the OER. The unique sulfide/oxyhydroxide heterostructure facilitates charge transfer and lowers reaction barrier, thus promoting electrocatalytic processes.  相似文献

The development of non-precious metal-based highly active bi-functional electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is critical factor for making water electrolysis a viable process for large-scale industrial applications. In this study, bi-functional water splitting electrocatalysts in the form of nickel-sulfide/nickel nanoparticles integrated into a three-dimensional N-doped porous carbon matrix, are prepared using NaCl as a porous structure-forming template. Microstructures of the catalytic materials are characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and N2 adsorption-desorption analysis. The most active catalyst synthesized in this study exhibits a low HER overpotential of 70 mV at 10 mA cm−2 and a low Tafel slope of 45 mV dec−1. In OER, the optimized sample performs better than a state-of-the-art RuO2 catalyst and produces an overpotential of 337 mV at 10 mA cm−2, lower than that of RuO2. The newly obtained materials are also used as HER/OER electrocatalysts in a specially assembled two-electrode water splitting cell. The cell demonstrates high activity and good stability in overall water splitting.  相似文献

The development of highly active and low-cost catalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is significant for the development of clean and renewable energy research. Owing to the low H adsorption free energy, molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) is regarded as a promising candidate for HER, but it shows low activity for oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Herein, graphene-supported cobalt-doped ultrathin molybdenum disulfide (Co–MoS2/rGO) was synthesized via a one-pot hydrothermal method. The obtained hybrids modified electrode exhibits a high HER catalytic activity with a low overpotential of 147 mV at the current density of 10 mA cm−2, a small Tafel slope of 49.5 mV dec−1, as well as good electrochemical stability in acidic electrolyte. Meanwhile, the catalyst shows remarkable OER activity with a low overpotential of 347 mV at 10 mA cm−2. The superior activity is ascribed not only to the high conductivity originated from the reduced graphene, but also to the synergistic effect between MoS2 and cobalt.  相似文献

It is great important to develop and explore a non-precious bifunctional electrocatalyst with high efficiency and good stability for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction (HER) and Oxygen Evolution Reaction (OER) in alkaline electrolyte. Herein, a three-dimensional (3D) needle-like MoS2/NiS heterostructure supported on Nickel Foam (NF) (MoS2/NiS/NF) is synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method for the first time, which can act as a good bifunctional electrocatalyst for overall water splitting. As expected, the optimal MoS2/NiS/NF exhibits excellent catalytic performance with a low overpotential of 87 and 216 mV at 10 mA cm−2 for HER and OER in 1 M KOH electrolyte, respectively, accompanied by good cycle stability. Furthermore, the MoS2/NiS/NF as bifunctional electrocatalyst in an electrolyzer shows high efficiency with a cell voltage of 1.5 V at 10 mA cm−2, as well as superior durability. The present work may open a new direction to design and develop a non-precious bifunctional electrocatalyst with excellent catalytic activity for water splitting in the future.  相似文献

In targeting the most important energy and environmental issues in current society, the development of low-cost, bifunctional electrocatalysts for urea-assisted electrocatalytic hydrogen (H2) production is an urgent and challenging task. In this work, interlaced rosette-like MoS2/Ni3S2/NiFe-layered double hydroxide/nickel foam (LDH/NF) is successfully synthesized by a two-step hydrothermal reaction. Due to its unique interlaced heterostructure, MoS2/Ni3S2/NiFe-LDH/NF exhibits excellent bifunctional catalytic activity towards the urea oxidation reaction (UOR) and the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in 1.0 M KOH with 0.5 M urea. In a concurrent two-electrode electrolyser (MoS2/Ni3S2/NiFe-LDH/NF(+,-)), only voltage of 1.343 V is required to reach 50 mA cm−2, which is 216 mV lower than for pure water splitting. Furthermore, after 16 h of urea electrolysis in 1.0 M KOH with 0.5 M urea, the current density remains at 98% of the original value. Thus, the catalyst is not only favorable for H2 production, but also has great significance for the problem of urea-rich wastewater treatment.  相似文献

High-activity and cost-effective transition metal sulfides (TMSs) have attracted tremendous attention as promising catalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). However, a significant challenge is the simultaneous construction of abundant electrochemical active sites and the fast electronic transmission path to boost a high-efficient HER. Herein, we demonstrate a facile one-step hydrothermal preparation of MoS2 hollow nanospheres decorating Ni3S2 nanowires supported on Ni foam (NF), without any other additional template, surfactant or annealing. In this three-dimensional (3D) heterostructure, the ultrathin-layered MoS2 hollow nanospheres contribute to the promotion of the total surface area and the electrochemical active sites. Meanwhile, the Ni3S2 nanowires are beneficial to the high electrical conductivity. Consequently, the optimized MoS2/Ni3S2/NF-200-24 electrocatalyst presents an extremely superior HER activity to that of individual MoS2/NF and Ni3S2/NF. The HER overpotentials are 85 mV at 10 mA cm−2 and 189 mV at 100 mA cm−2, which are also comparable with the state-of-the-art 20% Pt/C/NF electrode at both low and high current.  相似文献

Developing highly active, stable and sustainable electrocatalysts for overall water splitting is of great importance to generate renewable H2 for fuel cells. Herein, we report the synthesis of electrocatalytically active, nickel foam-supported, spherical core-shell Fe-poly(tetraphenylporphyrin)/Ni-poly(tetraphenylporphyrin) microparticles (FeTPP@NiTPP/NF). We also show that FeTPP@NiTPP/NF exhibits efficient bifunctional electrocatalytic properties toward both the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Electrochemical tests in KOH solution (1 M) reveal that FeTPP@NiTPP/NF electrocatalyzes the OER with 100 mA cm−2 at an overpotential of 302 mV and the HER with 10 mA cm−2 at an overpotential of 170 mV. Notably also, its catalytic performance for OER is better than that of RuO2, the benchmark OER catalyst. Although its catalytic activity for HER is slightly lower than that of Pt/C (the benchmark HER electrocatalyst), it shows greater stability than the latter during the reaction. The material also exhibits electrocatalytic activity for overall water splitting reaction at a current density of 10 mA cm−2 with a cell voltage of 1.58 V, along with a good recovery property. Additionally, the work demonstrates a new synthetic strategy to an efficient, noble metal-free-coordinated covalent organic framework (COF)-based, bifunctional electrocatalyst for water splitting.  相似文献

The proper construction of high efficiency, low-cost, earth-abundant oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalyst is essential for hydrogen formation by water splitting. A novel electrocatalyst with highly active OER performance was manufactured by a simple electroless deposition method of Ni-Fe-P-WO3 on nickel foam (NF). Benefiting from outstanding mass transfer capability of Ni-Fe-P-WO3/NF heterogeneous structure, abundance of active sites in the amorphous architecture and etc., the Ni-Fe-P-WO3/NF shows extremely superb electrocatalytic properties compare to noble metal catalyst IrO2/NF for OER, which needs an overpotential of only 218 mV in 1.0 M KOH solution to achieve the current density of 10 mA cm?2. It also has remarkable OER activity at high current density that only needs 298 mV to attain 100 mA cm?2 current density. Moreover, the Ni-Fe-P-WO3/NF has low Tafel slope of 42 mV dec?1. This study offers a novel approach to the production of OER multiphase electrocatalysts from oxides and alloys.  相似文献

A new hybrid catalyst based on Ni foam (NF) and FeSe was prepared by a facial hydrothermal method, in which Se-decorated NF was subsequently electrochemically doped by Fe. Binder-free catalyst containing electrodes were directly tested for the hydrogen and oxygen evolution reaction (HER/OER). The FeSe/NF electrode displayed an OER current density of 100 mA cm−2 at potential of 1.42 V, and a relatively small Tafel slope of 109 mV dec−1 in a 1 M KOH solution. Also, FeSe/NF electrode exhibited reasonable HER overpotential of 200 mV at 10 mAcm−2 current density with Tafel slope of 145 mV dec−1. The XRD and TEM studies revealed that the formation of heterogeneous interfaces of NiSe2 and FeSe2,generated more active sites that can promote better ions and electron transport in the electrode/electrolyte interfaces. Furthermore, HRTEM analysis indicates that FeSe2 rich in Se vacancy defects can be created with suitable M − O and M − H bond for better OER and HER performance, respectively. In a-two electrode alkaline water electrolyzer, current densities of 10 mA cm−2 and 50 mA cm−2 were obtained at cell voltages of 1.52 V and 1.85 V, respectively, using pure FeSe–NF as both the cathode and anode.  相似文献

There are great challenges to develop and fabricate a high performance, low-cost and stable non-platinum catalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). In our study, we firstly developed a simple method to successfully fabricate a new MoS2/NiCo2S4 heterostructure by a two-step hydrothermal method, and studied the HER property of MoS2/NiCo2S4, where the as-prepared NiCo-layered double hydroxide (NiCo-LDH) was used as the precursor of NiCo2S4. Benefitting from the prominent synergistic effect between NiCo2S4 and MoS2, MoS2 provided massive catalytic active edge sites, and NiCo2S4 enhanced the conductivity of the composite. As a result, the MoS2/NiCo2S4 showed excellent HER catalytic activity, with a current of 10 mA cm−2 at overpotential of 94 mV for HER and a low Tafel slope of 46 mV dec−1, and good cycling stability in Alkaline Media. As well as, our work offered one promising high active and stable non-platinum catalyst for overall water splitting.  相似文献

Increasing worldwide energy consumption has prompted considerable study into energy generation and energy storage systems in recent years. Chemical fuels may be produced efficiently via electrocatalytic water splitting, which uses electric and solar power. The development of efficient anodic electrocatalysts for efficient oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is a greater concern of present energy research. Cerium oxide (CeO2) are promising electrocatalysts that exhibit outstanding OER but their reduced stability obstructs the practical application. A novel strategy was established to construct an effective catalyst of heteroatom (N, B, P and S) doped CeO2 matrix were prepared. Moreover, the doping of heteroatoms into the CeO2 matrix processes the improved electronic conductivity, reactive sites, increases the electrochemical catalytic activity, which enhances the water oxidation reaction. Consequently, well-suited alkaline electrolysers were brought together for water oxidation to ideal OER electrocatalytic activity. The OER activity of the electrocatalysts follows the order of S–CeO2 (190 mV@10 mA cm−2), N– CeO2 (220 mV @10 mA cm−2), P– CeO2 (230 mV @10 mA cm−2), B–CeO2 (250 mV @10 mA cm−2) and CeO2 (260 mV @10 mA cm−2) in 1 M of KOH. From the kinetics analysis, Tafel slope value achieved for catalysts CeO2, B–CeO2, P–CeO2, N–CeO2 and S–CeO2 are 142 mV dec−1,121 mV dec−1, 102 mV dec−1, 98 mV dec−1 and 83 mV dec−1 respectively. These results validate that the S–CeO2 electrode is prominent for OER performance with the requirement of cell voltage of 1.42 V at 10 mA cm−2 current density. In addition, sulphur doped CeO2 relatively have excellent stability through chrono-potentiometric analysis lasting for 20 h. Although the heteroatoms doped CeO2 is acts as anode material, the preparation method is widespread, which will reduce the synthesis cost and streamline the preparation of electrode for OER. This research effort delivers a complete advantage for the development of robust, environmentally friendly and highly dynamic electrocatalysts for OER activity.  相似文献

Constructing efficient bifunctional electrocatalysts for both cathode and anode is of great importance for obtaining green hydrogen by water splitting. Herein, sulfuration of hierarchical Mn-doped NiCo LDH heterostructures (Mn–NiCoS2/NF) is constructed as a bifunctional electrocatalyst for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) via a facile hydrothermal-annealing strategy. Mn–NiCoS2/NF shows an overpotential of 310 mV at 50 mA cm−2 for OER and 100 mV at 10 mA cm−2 for HER in 1.0 M KOH. Moreover, only 1.496 V@10 mA cm−2 is required for overall water splitting by using Mn–NiCoS2/NF as catalyst dual electrodes in a two-electrode system. The excellent performance of Mn–NiCoS2/NF should be attributed to the ameliorative energy barriers of adsorption/desorption for HO/H2O through the modification of electronic structure of NiCo basal plane by Mn-doping and the acceleration of water dissociation steps via rich delocalized electron inside sulfur vacancies. The construction of hierarchical Mn–NiCoS2/NF heterostructures provides new prospects and visions into developing efficient-advanced electrocatalysts for overall water splitting.  相似文献

The development of bifunctional catalysts that can be applied to both hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is widely regarded as a key factor in the production of sustainable hydrogen fuel by electrochemical water splitting. In this work, we present a high-performance electrocatalyst based on nickel-cobalt metal-organic frameworks for overall water splitting. The as-obtained catalyst shows low overpotential to reaches the current density of 10 mA cm−2 with 249 mV for OER and 143 mV for HER in alkaline media, respectively. More importantly, when the electrolyzer was assembled with the as-prepared catalyst as anode and cathode simultaneously, it demonstrates excellent activity just applies a potential of 1.68 V to achieve 10 mA cm−2 current density for overall water splitting.  相似文献

Binder-free NiFe-based electrocatalyst with aligned pore channels has been prepared by freeze casting and served as a bifunctional catalytic electrode for oxygen and hydrogen evolution reaction (OER and HER). The synergistic effects between Ni and Fe result in the high electrocatalytic performance of porous NiFe electrodes. In 1.0 M KOH, porous Ni7Fe3 attains 100 mA cm−2 at an overpotential of 388 mV with a Tafel slope of 35.8 mV dec−1 for OER, and porous Ni9Fe1 exhibits a low overpotential of 347 mV at 100 mA cm−2 with a Tafel slope of 121.0 mV dec−1 for HER. The Ni9Fe1//Ni9Fe1 requires a low cell voltage of 1.69 V to deliver 10 mA cm−2 current density for overall water splitting. The excellent durability at a high current density of porous NiFe electrodes has been confirmed during OER, HER and overall water splitting. The fine electrocatalytic performances of the porous NiFe-based electrodes owing to the three-dimensionally well-connected scaffolds, aligned pore channels, and bimetallic synergy, offering excellent charge/ion transfer efficiency and sizeable active surface area. Freeze casting can be applied to design and synthesize various three-dimensionally porous non-precious metal-based electrocatalysts with controllable multiphase for energy conversion and storage.  相似文献

Constructing high-efficient and nonprecious electrocatalysts is of primary importance for improving the efficiency of water splitting. Herein, a novel sunflower plate-like NiFe2O4/CoNi–S nanosheet heterostructure was fabricated via facile hydrothermal and electrodeposition methods. The as-fabricated NiFe2O4/CoNi–S heterostructure array exhibits remarkable bifunctional catalytic activity and stability toward oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in alkaline media. It presents a small overpotential of 219 mV and 149 mV for OER and HER, respectively, to produce a current density of 10 mA cm?2. More significantly, when the obtained electrodes are used as both the cathode and anode in an electrolyzer, a voltage of 1.57 V is gained at 10 mA cm?2, with superior stability for 72 h. Such outstanding properties are ascribed to: the 3D porous network structure, which exposes more active sites and accelerates mass transfer and gas bubble emission; the high conductivity of CoNi–S, which provides faster charge transport and thus promotes the electrocatalytic reaction of the composites; and the effective interface engineering between NiFe2O4 (excellent performance for OER) and CoNi–S (high activity for HER), which leads to a shorter transport pathway and thus expedites electron transfer. This work provides a new strategy for designing efficient and inexpensive electrocatalysts for water splitting.  相似文献
