The influence of yam bean hull on rat's mineral metabolism, serum composition and enzymatic activities was investigated. The chemical composition of the bean's hull shows a reasonably high crude protein (11.4%) but very low contents of crude fat (2.6%), phytic acid (82 mg/ 100 g) and phytin-phosphorus (23 mg/100 g). K and Ca are the major minerals present in yam bean hull. The hull, rich in cell wall polysac-charides, is composed of cellulose (35.4%), non-cellulose fractions made of pectin and hemicellulose put together (41.9%) and lignin (3.6%). The growth and feed conversion efficiency of rats fed yam bean hull diet were significantly better than rats fed pure cellulose and cellulose-free diets. Conversely, the metabolizable energy of yam bean hull diet (16.4 MJ/kg) was significantly (p < 0.05) lower than that of either cellulose-free (17.8 MJ/kg) or pure cellulose diet (17 MJ/kg). The retention of the minerals examined, except for Ca, was lower when the hull was included in diet as compared to the control (fibre-free) diet. The fibre containing diets decreased serum cholesterol, glutamic oxaloacetate transaminase (SGOT) and glutamic pyruvate transaminase (SGPT). 以绿豆皮纤维素为原料,采用硫酸水解法制备绿豆皮纳米纤维素并将其应用到浓缩乳清蛋白可食膜中,研究了绿豆皮纳米纤维素的微观形貌、结晶结构以及绿豆皮纳米纤维素添加量对浓缩乳清蛋白膜抗拉强度、断裂伸长率、氧气透过率、水蒸气透过系数、透光率及微观结构的影响。结果表明:绿豆皮纳米纤维素为棒状结构,长度约为100~200 nm,直径约为10~20 nm,且保持典型的纤维素Ⅰ型结构,结晶度较高;绿豆皮纳米纤维素与浓缩乳清蛋白有很好的相容性;当绿豆皮纳米纤维素添加量为1%时,膜的水蒸气透过系数达到最小值,为2.67×10-13 g/(cm·s·Pa);膜的透光率达到最大值,为39.31%;此时膜表面较为平整均匀。当绿豆皮纳米纤维素添加量为2%时,膜的抗拉强度最大为1.41 MPa,此时断裂伸长率为139.8%;膜的氧气透过率达到最小值,为1.8×10-5cm3/(m2·d·Pa)。绿豆皮纳米纤维素的添加能够有效的提高浓缩乳清蛋白膜的性能。  相似文献

Seed hulls from both sweet and bitter varieties of lupins (Lupinus angustifolius) have been analysed for constituent polysaccharides. The hulls contained 15 to 32% oxalate-soluble pectic polysaccharide, excluding pentose, 12 to 14% hemi-cellulose, 44 to 51% cellulose, 0.3 to 0.4% lignin, 2.7 to 3.8% protein and 2% ash. “Crude fibre” was 54.9%. In agreement with the low lignin values all of the hemicellulose was extractable with alkali without prior delignification and 70 to 80% of the polysaccharide in depectinated hulls was hydrolysed by cellulase plus hemicellulase, likewise without delignification. Sweet lupin seed hulls, added to a complete basal diet up to 40%, did not depress growth of young rats significantly; compensatory increase in food consumption occurred. With 60% hulls in the diet growth and food efficiency were reduced. Ground hulls did depress food and protein digestibility in direct proportion to their amount in the diet, possibly because of physical entrapment in the excessive bulk in the gut. The digestibility of the “crude fibre” of the hulls was 33% when the diet contained 20% hulls; this decreased to 22% when the content of hulls in the diet was increased to 60%.  相似文献

The objectives of this study were to investigate the effect of starch and protein interaction on rumen environment, in situ digestion, and total-tract digestibility of nutrients in weaned dairy calves between 8 and 16 wk of age. Sixteen rumen-cannulated calves were randomly divided into 4 dietary treatment groups with 4 calves fed in each treatment. The treatment diets had 2 levels of starch [18%, low starch (LS), or 38%, high starch (HS)] and 2 levels of protein [16%, low protein (LP), or 22%, high protein (HP)] on a dry matter (DM) basis in calf grower: (1) LPLS, (2) LPHS, (3) HPLS, and (4) HPHS. Calves were fed for ad libitum intake (95% assigned grower and 5% grass hay), and refusals were collected weekly. Total-tract digestibility collection and in situ digestibility procedures were performed for each calf at 11 and 15 wk. Samples for in situ digestibility, grass hay (GH), soybean hulls (SBH), wheat middlings (WM), ground corn (GrC), and soybean meal (SBM) were incubated for 9 and 24 h. There was no starch and protein interaction on total-tract digestibility of calves. Total-tract DM, neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and acid detergent fiber (ADF) digestibility, and feed efficiency were affected by both protein and starch inclusion level in calf diet. Total-tract starch digestibility was lower for LS diets. Dry matter digestibility and feed efficiency were greater in calves fed HP and HS diets compared with calves fed LP and LS diets, respectively. Fiber digestibility (NDF and ADF) was less in calves fed HS diets compared with calves fed LS diets but was greater in calves fed HP diets compared with calves fed LP diets. Level of protein did not affect in situ DM and NDF disappearance of GH, but HP increased in situ DM and NDF disappearance of SBH. High-starch diets decreased DM and NDF disappearance of both GH and SBH. At 20 h after feeding, ruminal pH was 0.51 unit higher in calves fed HPHS compared with calves fed LPHS. Total ruminal VFA and proportion of propionate was greater with HS versus LS, whereas proportion of acetate was greater with LS versus HS. The DM disappearance of SBM and WM and NDF disappearance of WM was greater for calves fed HPHS compared with calves fed LPHS at 11 wk of age. In our study, when HP was fed with HS, rumen pH, in situ digestion of WM and SBM, and total-tract digestion of DM, NDF, and ADF increased. This provides evidence for starch–protein interaction in the rumen of recently weaned dairy calves. Improvements in total-tract and in situ digestibility suggest that both protein and starch levels are important for 8- to 16-wk-old calves.  相似文献

A modification to existing methods of fibre separation and quantification has been proposed. The scheme involves lipid removal with diethyl ether; removal of water-soluble components and quantification of water-soluble fibre components; removal of water-insoluble starch; protein removal; pectin analyses; water-insoluble hemicellulose quantification; cellulose quantification; and lignin quantification. Simultaneous equations were used to compensate for hexose absorption at the same wavelength as pentoses. Recovery values for individual steps ranged from 90% using a low methoxy pectin to 98% using cornstarch, cellulose, agar or carrageenan. The scheme was used to analyse fibre components in seven wheat brans, maize bran, oat bran, soya bean hulls, potato and apple. Recoveries of fibre and other proximate analyses ranged from 95.9 to 104.7%. Remaining methodological problems are also discussed.  相似文献

The comparative utilization of differently processed (roasted, cooked and oil cake) soya bean base diets and groundnut cake diet were evaluated in a feeding trial using 100 day-old Anak broiler-chicks. The response criteria included performance, protein utilization, relative organ weights, carcass traits and economy of production. At the end of the feeding trial, the average weight gains of chicks fed processed soya bean diets were significantly (P < 0.05) higher than those fed groundnut cake and raw soya bean diets. Both feed consumption and efficiency were significantly (P < 0.05) enhanced by processing. For example, feed consumption was highest in the chicks fed soya bean oil cake and least in those fed raw bean. Feed efficiency was best in chicks fed roasted soya bean. The relative weights [g/100g body wt.] of the liver, kidneys, lungs, heart, gizzard and bursa were not significantly affected by the differently processed soya bean while the raw bean (unprocessed) significantly (P < 0.01) increased pancreas weight. The dressed weight [%], eviscerated weight [%] and the relative weight of the thigh, drumsticks, chest, back and head were not significantly influenced by the dietary treatments. However, the relative weights of the shank and belly fat were significantly (P < 0.05) affected. Cost-benefit analysis showed that the processed soya bean gave higher profit than groundnut cake diet. Among the soya bean diets, profit was in the order: roasted > cooked > oil cake > raw bean.  相似文献

Three diets containing different sources of dietary fibre, wheat bran, faba bean testas and rice hulls, were tested to determine the effects of alkaline, hydrogen peroxide (AHP)-treated fibre at 10% substitution level of dextrose corn flour on apparent digestibility, faecal characteristics, and levels of plasma glucose and lipid profile in rats. A fourth non-fibrous diet was used as a control. The results showed that, although AHP treatment of fibres resulted in reduction of their weight after washing, it caused an increase in their water absorption and in their swollen volume when mixed with an excess of water (up to three fold) as in the case of wheat bran. Rats consuming diets containing dietary fibres showed a significant loss of body weight but no significant effects on heart weight or liver weight were found. Faeces of rats fed on dietary fibre diets showed an increase in weight and volume, which resulted in reduction of faecal density. The consumption of the treated fibre significantly reduced total cholesterol, plasma triglycerides and blood sugar; wheat bran was the most effective followed by rice hulls and faba bean testas. On the other hand, it effected an increase in the plasma content of high-density lipoprotein HDL-C but this increase was only significant in rats fed with wheat bran. Alkaline hydrogen peroxide-treated fibres showed a great improvement in their absorbency, making them equal to or even better than untreated fibre in lowering blood lipids and sugar levels, in addition to their excellent effect on the physiological function of the intestinal tract.  相似文献

Fishmeal made from lantern fish (family: Myctophidae; genus: Benthosema pterotum) had proximate, mineral, amino acid and fatty acid composition within the range reported for fishmeal made from conventional fish. Similarly, the pressed-out oil had a fatty acid composition and content of unsaponifiables as reported for conventional fish oil. The content of unsaponifiables in the body fat of the fish indicated that wax esters contributed a minor part of the lipids of this species of lantern fish. Determined in chicks, the true digestibility of the amino acids varied from 92% (arginine) to 73% (hydroxyproline) which for most of the amino acids was 1-3% units lower than that found for a high-quality capelin fishmeal. No differences in rate of mortality, growth rate and feed consumption and utilisation were found between lantern and capelin fishmeal when they replaced increasing amounts (0 to 100%) of soya bean meal as protein supplements (72% of total protein) to cereal diets, both fishmeals reducing feed consumption and causing a significant improvement in feed utilisation compared with soya bean meal. The data indicate that lantern fish may be used for the production of fishmeal.  相似文献

Effects of dietary citrus molasses distillers solubles (0, 6, 12, and 18% of DM) on diet digestibility and ruminal parameters were studied with four fistulated Holstein cows fed each diet in Latin square sequence. Diets were 25% cottonseed hulls with solubles substituted for corn. Dry matter and organic matter digestibilities were increased curvilinearly with peak at 6%. Crude protein digestibility was depressed linearly and ADF curvilinearly with added solubles. Ruminal acetic acid proportion increased linearly and propionic acid decreased curvilinearly. Change in butyric acid was small with 0, 6, and 12% solubles but it increased dramatically with 18%. In a 36-cow (107 cow-period) lactation experiment with corn silage-based and cottonseed hull-based diets (0, 3, 6, and 9% solubles) milk yield increased; the diet containing 6% solubles gave highest production. We compared cane molasses (3 and 6%), liquid hemicellulose extract (3%, Masonex), and liquid lignin sulfonate (3%, Flambeau) added to cottonseed hull diets. Linear increases in milk yield and FCM were obtained with cane molasses; Flambeau and Masonex effects on production were not different from control. With diets and amounts used in these experiments, citrus molasses solubles and cane molasses each at up to 6% of DM nutritionally were superior to corn.  相似文献

In experiments with rats the amino acid digestibility of three protein concntrates (soya bean meal, herring meal, horse bean meal) was measured when these protein sources were given separately and together with cereal grains (barley, maize, oats or wheat). True digestibility of the individual amino acid components was in general close to the digestibility of the corresponding protein source. Furthermore it was found that the true digestibility of amino acids in a feed mixture is directly related to the amino acid digestibility of the individual protein components in the diets.  相似文献

The non-starch polysaccharide (NSP) content as determined by gas chromatography (component neutral sugars) and colorimetry (uronic acids) was shown to be 16–22% in ten different samples of defatted canola (low glucosinolate rapeseed) seed. The non-cellulosic components of NSP accounted for 13–16% of the meal and on average consisted of arabinose (33%), xylose (13%), galactose (13%), glucose (5%), mannose (3%), rhamnose (2%), fucose (2%) and uronic acids (30%). Yellow-seeded and brown-seeded samples of canola contained similar contents of total dietary fibre although the composition of the fibre components tended to differ with the former showing a low content of lignin and associated polyphenols and a high content of NSP as compared with the latter type. NDF values tended to be lower for yellow-seeded than for brown-seeded canola due to the relatively high content of NSP in neutral detergent solubles of yellow-seeded canola. An initial balance study with laying hens showed low (<3%) digestibility of the polysaccharide components, and further studies were conducted with a commercial enzyme preparation (SP249, Novo Laboratories Ltd, Lachine, Quebec) to enhance the in-vivo hydrolysis of the NSP fraction of the meal. Laying hens were fed a semipurified diet containing 40% commercial canola meal with and without enzyme (1%). NSP digestibility was increased to 37% by the enzyme supplementation.  相似文献

Dietary fiber sources containing 31 – 99% of neutral detergent fiber were evaluated for functional properties and physiological effects on rats. The high water hydration capacity of mucilage-containing psyllium seeds and flax hulls were associated with low digestibility, high volume and weight of feces, and low serum triglycerides. Mustard hulls and sunflower heads, which contained less mucilage or pectin, were intermediate in water hydration capacity and as bulking agents in the gastrointestinal tract. Fiber sources rich in hemicellulose and lignin (wheat bran, sunflower hulls) had high fat absorption properties, digestibility and serum triglycerides. Pea hulls and cellulose showed less strong functional properties as sources of dietary fiber.  相似文献

Flaxseed hull, a co-product obtained from flax processing, is a rich source of n-3 fatty acids but there is little information on digestibility of its nutrients by dairy cows. Four rumen-cannulated multiparous Holstein cows averaging 665 ± 21 kg of body weight and 190 ± 5 d in milk at the beginning of the experiment were assigned to a 4 × 4 Latin square design with four 28-d experimental periods to determine the effects of feeding monensin and flaxseed hulls on total tract apparent digestibility of nutrients and fatty acids. The four treatments were: (1) diet CO: control with neither flaxseed hulls nor monensin added; (2) diet FH containing 19·8 g flaxseed hulls/100 g dry matter (DM); (3) diet MO with 16 mg monensin/kg DM; (4) diet HM containing 19·8 g flaxseed hulls/100 g DM and 16 mg monensin/kg DM. Diets provided similar amounts of protein and net energy of lactation. Digestibility of crude protein was higher for diets containing flaxseed hulls and for diets supplemented with monensin. Flaxseed hulls supplementation decreased digestibility of acid and neutral detergent fibre. Significantly higher digestibility of ether extract and individual fatty acids was observed for treatments with flaxseed hulls compared with treatments without flaxseed hulls. A combination of flaxseed hulls and monensin did not result in better fatty acid digestibility than when feeding only flaxseed hulls.  相似文献

This study was designed to evaluate the effects of substituting corn grain with nonforage fiber sources in diets containing soybean meal (SBM) or canola meal (CM) as the primary protein source. Sixteen Holstein cows were assigned to a replicated 4 × 4 Latin square design with 4 periods of 28 d each. Treatments were arranged as a 2 × 2 factorial with 2 protein sources (SBM and CM) and 2 dietary starch concentrations (21 and 27% dry matter, DM). Diets were formulated to contain 16.5% CP, and the 21% starch diets were obtained by replacing corn grain with soybean hulls and beet pulp. Protein source × starch interactions were observed for DM intake (DMI), milk fat and protein concentrations, milk protein yield, milk urea nitrogen, and feed efficiency. Cows fed CM diets had a higher DMI when dietary starch concentration was 27% compared with 21%, but those cows had DMI similar to that of cows on SBM diets regardless of the starch concentration. Milk fat percentage was decreased in cows fed CM with 27% starch compared with cows fed CM with 21% starch and cows fed SBM with 27% starch. Milk protein percentage and yield and milk lactose percentage were least in cows fed CM with 21% starch compared with the other 3 diets, but feed efficiency was greater for cows fed CM with 21% starch. Milk urea nitrogen was least in cows fed CM with 27% starch compared with the other 3 diets. Cows fed diets with 27% starch produced 2.5 kg/d more milk and 1.9 kg/d more energy-corrected milk compared with cows fed 21% starch. Digestibility of DM and organic matter was higher in cows fed SBM diets than in cows on CM diets, and cows fed 27% starch showed greater DM and organic matter digestibility than cows on 21% starch. Digestibility of neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent fiber was greater in diets with SBM than in those with CM. Molar proportion of acetate was the lowest for cows fed CM with 21% starch compared with cows fed SBM with 21% starch, with the remaining cows fed being intermediate and similar. However, propionate was highest for cows fed CM with 21% starch than for cows fed SBM with 21% starch, but the remaining treatments were intermediate and similar. Isobutyrate was greater for cows fed CM with 21% starch, which resulted in the lowest acetate:propionate ratio compared with cows fed the remaining treatments. Overall, we confirmed that the interaction of protein with starch in CM diets can sustain similar cow performance as with the SBM diets. Those making decisions about starch concentration and protein source should consider feed price when SBM or CM and different starch levels are being formulated in diets for lactating dairy cows.  相似文献

Peanut Hull Flour as a Potential Source of Dietary Fiber   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Peanut hull flour (PHF) was prepared from two types of peanuts and subsequently analyzed and evaluated as a dietary fiber source. The yield of PHF from the sheller-run hulls ranged from 15–33%. The PHF averaged 47.3% crude fiber. The neutral detergent fiber content was 78.1% and consisted of 25.5% lignin, 18.0% hemicellulose, and 34.6% cellulose. Fourteen elements were determined in the ash: P, Ca, Mg, and K were present in the highest concentrations. Holding capacities were 3.1g water/g flour and 1.7g oil/g flour. Cation exchange capacity was 1.0 meq/g flour; emulsifying capacity, 26.6 ml oil/g flour. Gross energy content was 4.57 Kcal/g, but about 0.52 Kcal/g would be available in the monogastric digestive system. Toasting caused a slight darkening of the flour and the flours had a slight peanut flavor. Thus, PHF seems to have potential for use as dietary fiber.  相似文献

This work shows the results of comparing the effects of the insoluble dietary fibre from oil palm fat-free flour and cellulose on the growth, weight, humidity and composition of faeces in adult rats (Sprague–Dawley). Five groups of rats were fed for 4 weeks. The control group was fed with a diet free of fibre, and the remaining four groups with diets containing 50 or 100 g of either oil palm fat-free flour or cellulose, respectively. The adaptation period was 4 days. The evolution of growth and food intake did not vary significantly p<0.05 regardless of the type of diet. On the other hand, faeces excretion increased by 3.3–4.7 g/day in the groups of rats fed with oil palm fat-free flour, while it increased by only 3.1–4 g/day in diets based on cellulose. A higher content of water was observed in the faeces of rats fed with insoluble dietetic fibre from oil palm fat-free flour. The apparent digestibility of the insoluble dietary fibre of oil palm fat-free flour was low (35%), showing resistance to fermentation. The digestibility of the protein tended to decrease more with the insoluble dietary fibre of oil palm than with the cellulose, which may be related. ©  相似文献

Sixteen multiparous Holstein cows past peak lactation were used in a 4 x 4 Latin square design replicated four times to determine the production response and digestibility of diets containing high fiber energy supplements. Corn gluten feed, soybean hulls, or wheat middlings were substituted for a portion of corn, soybean meal, and corn silage in the control diet to provide 22% of the total dietary DM. Intake of DM was decreased when cows consumed wheat middlings compared with control and soybean hulls. Actual milk and SCM yields and milk fat percentage were not different among treatments. Milk protein percentage was greater when cows consumed corn gluten feed compared with soybean hulls. Apparent digestibility of DM was greater when cows consumed soybean hulls compared with wheat middlings. Intake and apparent digestibility of ADF and NDF were greater when cows consumed soybean hulls. Cows consuming wheat middlings had intermediate intake and decreased apparent digestibility of NDF compared with controls. Intake and apparent digestibility of NDF were not different when cows received corn gluten feed compared with control or wheat middlings. High fiber energy supplements supported milk production equally; however, differences in DM and nutrient intake, milk composition, and nutrient apparent digestibility were significant.  相似文献

Fiber-supplemented breads, prepared by replacing 7.5% of the hard wheat flour with field pea, flax or sunflower hulls, wheat bran or microcrystalline cellulose, were evaluated for breadmaking characteristics and physiological effects on rats. Cellulose-supplemented dough and bread resembled the straight-grade wheat bread while pea hull and wheat bran breads were similar to whole wheat bread. Flax and sunflower hulls had adverse effects on dough mixograph properties, loaf volume and crumb characteristics while sunflower hulls also contributed grittiness and aftertaste in taste panel evaluations. The fiber-supplemented breads, when fed to weanling rats, gave similar feed consumptions, weight gains and serum cholesterol levels as rats fed the whole wheat bread. Pea hulls increased daily fecal weight and, with coarse sunflower hulls, decreased dry matter digestibility. Fine wheat bran and fine sunflower hulls in the bread diets were associated with low fecal weight, low fecal volume, high fecal density and high digestibility of dry matter.  相似文献

The poor nutritional performance of rats fed raw soya-bean-containing diets appeared to be due to reduced apparent digestion and absorption of dietary protein, coupled to changes in systemic metabolism leading to a poor overall nitrogen balance. Aqueous heat treatment greatly reduced but did not eliminate the antinutritional effect. Heat treatment with aqueous ethanol was more effective. The whey protein (pH 4.8 soluble extract) fraction contained the bulk of the trypsin inhibitor and haemagglutination activity and gave the poorest net protein utilisation value. However, an eight-fold increase in trypsin inhibitor content did not significantly effect apparent nitrogen digestibility. Therefore inhibition of gut proteolytic enzyme activity in vivo by soya bean trypsin inhibitors did not account fully for the poor nutritional performance. The problems elicited by soya bean are not transitory and thus there was a cumulative deterioration in overall performance for 16 weeks as a result of continuous exposure to soya bean.  相似文献
