The paper investigates the drive-wave shape influence on the performances of tuned HF high-power amplifiers. In this paper a complete and self-contained account of composite periodic signals with two and three harmonics which possess flattened extrema at the zero point, including their application in the balance power analysis of a HF high-power tuned amplifier (HFHPTA), is presented. It is shown that signals obtained in the balance power analysis of HFHPTA and their derivatives can extremely accurately be approximated with the corresponding signals with flattened extrema at the point &thetas;=0. This paper describes a successfully developed high-power and high-efficiency C-band GaAs FET amplifier for satellite communication systems. To realize high efficiency in a high-power amplifier, an HFET well-designed for high-power applications is developed, and precise design for an amplifier is carried out. The HFET employed achieves reduction in a gate leakage current while maintaining a high maximum drain current. For precise design of an amplifier, large-signal FET model parameters are extracted using pulsed I-V and S-parameter measurements. Based on this model, second harmonic impedances as well as fundamental impedances are determined for obtaining high efficiency and input- and output-matching circuits which are assembled in a compact package are designed to achieve a high-efficiency internally matched amplifier. As a result, the amplifier delivers a high saturated output power of 70 W and a high power-added efficiency of 51%. These characteristics are the record power performance in C-band in terms of simultaneous achievement of high power and high efficiency. A low third order intermodulation distortion of -35 dBc is also obtained at a drain voltage of 10 V.  相似文献

The concept of using fourth-harmonic rather than third-harmonic resonant circuits in the tuned plate circuits of high-power radio-frequency amplifiers to improve operating efficiency is proposed. The advantages are circuit simplicity, greater stability, and simpler adjustment than with third-harmonic-enriched amplifiers because the grid excitation voltage can be sinusoidal. Improvements in plate efficiency, envelope distortion, and carrier shift characteristics are comparable to those achieved with third-harmonic designs: however, implementation is simpler and the amplifier more stable because the requirement to maintain a constant grid current under conditions of plate modulation becomes less critical  相似文献

The effects of component variations on a high-Q class-E amplifier are simulated and measured. Design equations are provided for the case of a 50% duty cycle with B at its optimum value for a given R. Six distinct operating points are analyzed for the output network. The problem of tuning a high-Q class-E amplifier is addressed. Normally, it cannot be tuned for maximum output power without degrading efficiency. An auxiliary circuit is added to the design so that it can be tuned for maximum output power in order to achieve optimum efficiency. A 10-W LDMOS harmonically tuned power amplifier at 1 GHz with state-of-the-art power-added efficiency of 80% is presented. The fundamental and second-harmonic load impedances are optimized for maximum efficiency while other harmonics are blocked by a low-pass load network. A simplified model of the transistor specialized for harmonically tuned and switched mode operations is proposed and used for the design. Good agreement between simulations and measurements is observed, indicating high accuracy of the model and design approach for these particular applications.   相似文献

功率合成器是功率放大器中的重要组成部件,其特性直接影响功率放大器的性能。针对系统低损耗和高效率的要求,提出了一种新颖的同轴-波导四路功率合成器的设计方案。用电路仿真软件和电磁场仿真软件协同仿真的方法设计了一款频率范围为2.2~2.3 GHz的低损耗和高效率的四路功率合成器,并进行了加工和测试。测试指标与仿真结果高度吻合,对所提出功率合成器的性能进行了验证。  相似文献

This paper reports on a modified class-E amplifier with a tuned series-parallel resonance network. This configuration introduces two additional resonance frequencies. The design equations required to determine the optimum operations are analyzed in detail by introducing three additional boundary conditions. compared to the conventional class-E amplifier, the numerical results show that the improvements on load resistance, maximum transistor current, power output capability, and maximum frequency can be obtained by properly selecting the resonance frequencies of the tuned network. Comparisons between simulations and measurements of an experimental circuit of the new configuration are drawn to validate the feasibility. The drain efficiency of 81.77%, power-added efficiency of 79.58%, and output power of 32.71 dBm (1.866 W) at 250 MHz are measured.  相似文献

The optimal design of the high power plate and grid modulated selective amplifier is examined in this paper. For the analysis purposes, the linear model of constant plate current characteristics for HF power triode is applied. The carrier wave state of the unmodulated amplifier is chosen so to enable the realization of the high levels of modulation. The results are obtained immediateZy, and the estimated error is acceptable. The estimated characteristic values of this high power and high efficiency HF amplifier are shown in the corresponding diagrams.  相似文献

Describes the design principles and measured performance of an X-band high-efficiency monolithic-microwave-integrated-circuit (MMIC) power amplifier and discuss pertinent factors of the ion-implantation process. Also presented is a worst-case power prediction of the chip performance and a large-signal design using small-signal simulation. This balanced amplifier is fully monolithic with input and output return losses of better than 20 dB provided by Lange couplers. These return losses make it very convenient to cascade with other components. For high-efficiency operation, the drain voltage is 6 V. Across the 40% bandwidth from 8 to 12 GHz, the amplifier produces 1.6 to 2.1 W of output power at 33 to 40% power-added efficiency. For high-power operation, the drain voltage is 8.5 V. The amplifier can produce 2.4 to 2.8 W of output power at 26 to 29% power-added efficiency across the same 40% bandwidth  相似文献

推导了准稳态下横向抽运的脉冲染料激光放大器的简化速率方程,提出了双侧横向抽运方式的脉冲染料激光放大器的设计原则和设计方法.应用高功率脉冲染料激光放大器的物理设计结果,研制了输出功率为50 W的脉冲染料激光放大器的实验装置.采用铜蒸气激光(CVL)作为抽运光,在此染料激光放大器上进行了实验研究,获得染料激光输出功率为52 W,抽运激光功率提取效率为41%.给出了染料激光波长、注入染料激光功率以及抽运激光的时间和空间匹配特性与染料激光放大器输出激光功率和抽运激光功率提取效率的相互关系,讨论了染料溶液浓度对双侧横向抽运方式的脉冲染料激光放大器的输出光束质量的影响.  相似文献
