3D thick electrode design is a promising strategy to increase the energy density of lithium‐ion batteries but faces challenges such as poor rate and limited cycle life. Herein, a coassembly method is employed to construct low‐tortuosity, mechanically robust 3D thick electrodes. LiFe0.7Mn0.3PO4 nanoplates (LFMP NPs) and graphene are aligned along the growth direction of ice crystals during freezing and assembled into sandwich frameworks with vertical channels, which prompts fast ion transfer within the entire electrode and reveals a 2.5‐fold increase in ion transfer performance as opposed to that of random structured electrodes. In the sandwich framework, LFMP NPs are entrapped in the graphene wall in a “plate‐on‐sheet” contact mode, which avoids the detachment of NPs during cycling and also constitutes electron transfer highways for the thick electrode. Such vertical‐channel sandwich electrodes with mass loading of 21.2 mg cm?2 exhibit a superior rate capability (0.2C–20C) and ultralong cycle life (1000 cycles). Even under an ultrahigh mass loading of 72 mg cm?2, the electrode still delivers an areal capacity up to 9.4 mAh cm?2, ≈2.4 times higher than that of conventional electrodes. This study provides a novel strategy for designing thick electrodes toward high performance batteries.  相似文献

Lithium‐ion, sodium‐ion, and potassium‐ion batteries have captured tremendous attention in power supplies for various electric vehicles and portable electronic devices. However, their practical applications are severely limited by factors such as poor rate capability, fast capacity decay, sluggish charge storage dynamics, and low reversibility. Herein, hetero‐structured bimetallic sulfide (NiS/FeS) encapsulated in N‐doped porous carbon cubes interconnected with CNTs (Ni‐Fe‐S‐CNT) are prepared through a convenient co‐precipitation and post‐heat treatment sulfurization technique of the corresponding Prussian‐blue analogue nanocage precursor. This special 3D hierarchical structure can offer a stable interconnect and conductive network and shorten the diffusion path of ions, thereby greatly enhancing the mobility efficiency of alkali (Li, Na, K) ions in electrode materials. The Ni‐Fe‐S‐CNT nanocomposite maintains a charge capacity of 1535 mAh g?1 at 0.2 A g?1 for lithium ion batteries, 431 mAh g?1 at 0.1 A g?1 for sodium ion batteries, and 181 mAh g?1 at 0.1 A g?1 for potassium‐ion batteries, respectively. The high performance is mainly attributed to the 3D hierarchically high‐conductivity network architecture, in which the hetero‐structured FeS/NiS nanocubes provide fast Li+/Na+/K+ insertion/extraction and reduced ion diffusion paths, and the distinctive 3D networks maintain the electrical contact and guarantee the structural integrity.  相似文献

High‐energy‐density lithium metal batteries are considered the most promising candidates for the next‐generation energy storage systems. However, conventional electrolytes used in lithium‐ion batteries can hardly meet the demand of the lithium metal batteries due to their intrinsic instability for Li metal anodes and high‐voltage cathodes. Herein, an ester‐based electrolyte with tris(trimethylsilyl)phosphate additive that can form stable solid electrolyte interphases on the anode and cathode is reported. The additive decomposes before the ester solvent and enables the formation of P‐ and Si‐rich interphases on both electrodes that are ion conductive and robust. Thus, lithium metal batteries with a high‐specific‐energy of 373 Wh kg?1 can exhibit a long lifespan of over 80 cycles under practical conditions, including a low negative/positive capacity ratio of 2.3, high areal capacity of 4.5 mAh cm?2 for cathode, high‐voltage of 4.5 V, and lean electrolyte of 2.8 µL mAh?1. A 4.5 V pouch cell is further assembled to demonstrate the practical application of the tris(trimethylsilyl)phosphate additive with an areal capacity of 10.2 and 9.4 mAh cm?2 for the anode and cathode, respectively. This work is expected to provide an effective electrolyte optimizing strategy compatible with current lithium ion battery manufacturing systems and pave the way for the next‐generation Li metal batteries with high specific energy and energy density.  相似文献

One of the critical challenges to develop advanced lithium‐sulfur (Li‐S) batteries lies in exploring a high efficient stable sulfur cathode with robust conductive framework and high sulfur loading. Herein, a 3D flexible multifunctional hybrid is rationally constructed consisting of nitrogen‐doped carbon foam@CNTs decorated with ultrafine MgO nanoparticles for the use as advanced current collector. The dense carbon nanotubes uniformly wrapped on the carbon foam skeletons enhance the flexibility and build an interconnected conductive network for rapid ionic/electronic transport. In particular, a synergistic action of MgO nanoparticles and in situ N‐doping significantly suppresses the shuttling effect via enhanced chemisorption of lithium polysulfides. Owing to these merits, the as‐built electrode with an ultrahigh sulfur loading of 14.4 mg cm?2 manifests a high initial areal capacity of 10.4 mAh cm?2, still retains 8.8 mAh cm?2 (612 mAh g?1 in gravimetric capacity) over 50 cycles. The best cycling performance is achieved upon 800 cycles with an extremely low decay rate of 0.06% at 2 C. Furthermore, a flexible soft‐packaged Li‐S battery is readily assembled, which highlights stable electrochemical characteristics under bending and even folding. This cathode structural design may open up a potential avenue for practical application of high‐sulfur‐loading Li‐S batteries toward flexible energy‐storage devices.  相似文献

Potassium‐ion batteries have been regarded as the potential alternatives to lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) due to the low cost, earth abundance, and low potential of K (?2.936 vs standard hydrogen electrode (SHE)). However, the lack of low‐cost cathodes with high energy density and long cycle life always limits its application. In this work, high‐energy layered P2‐type hierarchical K0.65Fe0.5Mn0.5O2 (P2‐KFMO) microspheres, assembled by the primary nanoparticles, are fabricated via a modified solvent‐thermal method. Benefiting from the unique microspheres with primary nanoparticles, the K+ intercalation/deintercalation kinetics of P2‐KFMO is greatly enhanced with a stabilized cathodic electrolyte interphase on the cathode. The P2‐KFMO microsphere presents a highly reversible potassium storage capacity of 151 mAh g?1 at 20 mA g?1, fast rate capability of 103 mAh g?1 at 100 mA g?1, and long cycling stability with 78% capacity retention after 350 cycles. A full cell with P2‐KFMO microspheres as cathode and hard carbon as anode is constructed, which exhibits long‐term cycling stability (>80% of retention after 100 cycles). The present high‐performance P2‐KFMO microsphere cathode synthesized using earth‐abundant elements provides a new cost‐effective alternative to LIBs for large‐scale energy storage.  相似文献

Organic redox‐active molecules are inborn electrodes to store large‐radius potassium (K) ion. High‐performance organic cathodes are important for practical usage of organic potassium‐ion batteries (OPIBs). However, small‐molecule organic cathodes face serious dissolution problems against liquid electrolytes. A novel insoluble small‐molecule organic cathode [N,N′‐bis(2‐anthraquinone)]‐perylene‐3,4,9,10‐tetracarboxydiimide (PTCDI‐DAQ, 200 mAh g?1) is initially designed for OPIBs. In half cells (1–3.8 V vs K+/K) using 1 m KPF6 in dimethoxyethane (DME), PTCDI‐DAQ delivers a highly stable specific capacity of 216 mAh g?1 and still holds the value of 133 mAh g?1 at an ultrahigh current density of 20 A g?1 (100 C). Using reduced potassium terephthalate (K4TP) as the organic anode, the resulting K4TP||PTCDI‐DAQ OPIBs with the electrolyte 1 m KPF6 in DME realize a high energy density of maximum 295 Wh kg?1cathode (213 mAh g?1cathode × 1.38 V) and power density of 13 800 W Kg?1cathode (94 mAh g?1 × 1.38 V @ 10 A g?1) during the working voltage of 0.2–3.2 V. Meanwhile, K4TP||PTCDI‐DAQ OPIBs fulfill the superlong lifespan with a stable discharge capacity of 62 mAh g?1cathode after 10 000 cycles and 40 mAh g?1cathode after 30 000 cycles (3 A g?1). The integrated performance of PTCDI‐DAQ can currently defeat any cathode reported in K‐ion half/full cells.  相似文献

Transition metal oxides, possessing high theoretical specific capacities, are promising anode materials for sodium‐ion batteries. However, the sluggish sodiation/desodiation kinetics and poor structural stability restrict their electrochemical performance. To achieve high and fast Na storage capability, in this work, rambutan‐like hybrid hollow spheres of carbon confined Co3O4 nanoparticles are synthesized by a facile one‐pot hydrothermal treatment with postannealing. The hierarchy hollow structure with ultrafine Co3O4 nanoparticles embedded in the continuous carbon matrix enables greatly enhanced structural stability and fast electrode kinetics. When tested in sodium‐ion batteries, the hollow structured composite electrode exhibits an outstandingly high reversible specific capacity of 712 mAh g?1 at a current density of 0.1 A g?1, and retains a capacity of 223 mAh g?1 even at a large current density of 5 A g?1. Besides the superior Na storage capability, good cycle performance is demonstrated for the composite electrode with 74.5% capacity retention after 500 cycles, suggesting promising application in advanced sodium‐ion batteries.  相似文献

Hollow structures are often used to relieve the intrinsic strain on metal oxide electrodes in alkali‐ion batteries. Nevertheless, one common drawback is that the large interior space leads to low volumetric energy density and inferior electric conductivity. Here, the von Mises stress distribution on a mesoporous hollow bowl (HB) is simulated via the finite element method, and the vital role of the porous HB structure on strain‐relaxation behavior is confirmed. Then, N‐doped‐C coated mesoporous α‐Fe2O3 HBs are designed and synthesized using a multistep soft/hard‐templating strategy. The material has several advantages: (i) there is space to accommodate strains without sacrificing volumetric energy density, unlike with hollow spheres; (ii) the mesoporous hollow structure shortens ion diffusion lengths and allows for high‐rate induced lithiation reactivation; and (iii) the N‐doped carbon nanolayer can enhance conductivity. As an anode in lithium‐ion batteries, the material exhibits a very high reversible capacity of 1452 mAh g?1 at 0.1 A g?1, excellent cycling stability of 1600 cycles (964 mAh g?1 at 2 A g?1), and outstanding rate performance (609 mAh g?1 at 8 A g?1). Notably, the volumetric specific capacity of composite electrode is 42% greater than that of hollow spheres. When used in potassium‐ion batteries, the material also shows high capacity and cycle stability.  相似文献

The demand for a new generation of flexible, portable, and high‐capacity power sources increases rapidly with the development of advanced wearable electronic devices. Here we report a simple process for large‐scale fabrication of self‐standing composite film electrodes composed of NiCo2O4@carbon nanotube (CNT) for supercapacitors. Among all composite electrodes prepared, the one fired in air displays the best electrochemical behavior, achieving a specific capacitance of 1,590 F g?1 at 0.5 A g?1 while maintaining excellent stability. The NiCo2O4@CNT/CNT film electrodes are fabricated via stacking NiCo2O4@CNT and CNT alternately through vacuum filtration. Lightweight, flexible, and self‐standing film electrodes (≈24.3 µm thick) exhibit high volumetric capacitance of 873 F cm?3 (with an areal mass of 2.5 mg cm?2) at 0.5 A g?1. An all‐solid‐state asymmetric supercapacitor consists of a composite film electrode and a treated carbon cloth electrode has not only high energy density (≈27.6 Wh kg?1) at 0.55 kW kg?1 (including the weight of the two electrodes) but also excellent cycling stability (retaining ≈95% of the initial capacitance after 5000 cycles), demonstrating the potential for practical application in wearable devices.  相似文献

Zn batteries potentially offer the highest energy density among aqueous batteries that are inherently safe, inexpensive, and sustainable. However, most cathode materials in Zn batteries suffer from capacity fading, particularly at a low current rate. Herein, it is shown that the ZnCl2 “water‐in‐salt” electrolyte (WiSE) addresses this capacity fading problem to a large extent by facilitating unprecedented performance of a Zn battery cathode of Ca0.20V2O5?0.80H2O. Upon increasing the concentration of aqueous ZnCl2 electrolytes from 1 m to 30 m, the capacity of Ca0.20V2O5?0.80H2O rises from 296 mAh g?1 to 496 mAh g?1; its absolute working potential increases by 0.4 V, and most importantly, at a low current rate of 50 mA g?1, that is, C/10; its capacity retention increases from 8.4% to 51.1% over 100 cycles. Ex situ characterization results point to the formation of a new ready‐to‐dissolve phase on the electrode in the dilute electrolyte. The results demonstrate that the Zn‐based WiSE may provide the underpinning platform for the applications of Zn batteries for stationary grid‐level storage.  相似文献

Aqueous zinc‐ion batteries are receiving increasing attention; however, the development of high‐voltage cathodes is limited by the narrow voltage window of conventional aqueous electrolytes. Herein, it is reported that Na3V2(PO4)2O1.6F1.4 exhibits the excellent performance, optimal to date, among polyanion cathode materials in a novel neutral water‐in‐bisalts electrolyte of 25 m ZnCl2 + 5 m NH4Cl. It delivers a reversible capacity of 155 mAh g?1 at 50 mA g?1, a high average operating potential of ≈1.46 V, and stable cyclability of 7000 cycles at 2 A g?1.  相似文献

Aqueous dual‐ion batteries (DIBs) are promising for large‐scale energy storage due to low cost and inherent safety. However, DIBs are limited by low capacity and poor cycling of cathode materials and the challenge of electrolyte decomposition. In this study, a new cathode material of nitrogen‐doped microcrystalline graphene‐like carbon is investigated in a water‐in‐salt electrolyte of 30 m ZnCl2, where this carbon cathode stores anions reversibly via both electrical double layer adsorption and ion insertion. The (de)insertion of anions in carbon lattice delivers a high‐potential plateau at 1.85 V versus Zn2+/Zn, contributing nearly 1/3 of the capacity of 134 mAh g?1 and half of the stored energy. This study shows that both the unique carbon structure and concentrated ZnCl2 electrolyte play critical roles in allowing anion storage in carbon cathode for this aqueous DIB.  相似文献

Sodium‐ion batteries are widely considered as promising energy storage systems for large‐scale applications, but their relatively low energy density hinders further practical applications. Developing high‐voltage cathode materials is an effective approach to increase the overall energy density of sodium‐ion batteries. When cut‐off voltage is elevated over 4.3 V, however, the cathode becomes extremely unstable due to structural transformations as well as metal dissolution into the electrolytes. In this work, the cyclic stability of P2‐Na0.66(Mn0.54Co0.13Ni0.13)O2 (MCN) electrode at a cut‐off voltage of 4.5 V is successfully improved by using ultrathin metal oxide surface coatings (Al2O3, ZrO2, and TiO2) deposited by an atomic layer deposition technique. The MCN electrode coated with the Al2O3 layer exhibits higher capacity retention among the MCN electrodes. Moreover, the rate performance of the MCN electrode is greatly improved by the metal oxide coatings in the order of TiO2 < Al2O3 < ZrO2, due to increased fracture toughness and electrical conductivity of the metal oxide coating layers. A ZrO2‐coated MCN electrode shows a discharge capacity of 83 mAh g?1 at 2.4 A g?1, in comparison to 61 mAh g?1 for a pristine MCN electrode. Cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance analysis disclose the reduced charge transfer resistance from 1421 to 760.2 Ω after cycles, suggesting that the metal oxide coating layer can effectively minimize the undesirable phase transition, buffer inherent stress and strain between the binder, cathode, and current collector, and avoid volumetric changes, thus increasing the cyclic stability of the MCN electrode.  相似文献

Currently, development of suitable cathode materials for zinc‐ion batteries (ZIBs) is plagued by the sluggish kinetics of Zn2+ with multivalent charge in the host structure. Herein, it is demonstrated that interlayer Mn2+‐doped layered vanadium oxide (Mn0.15V2O5·nH2O) composites with narrowed direct bandgap manifest greatly boosted electrochemical performance as zinc‐ion battery cathodes. Specifically, the Mn0.15V2O5·nH2O electrode shows a high specific capacity of 367 mAh g?1 at a current density of 0.1 A g?1 as well as excellent retentive capacities of 153 and 122 mAh g?1 after 8000 cycles at high current densities up to 10 and 20 A g?1, respectively. Even at a low temperature of ?20 °C, a reversible specific capacity of 100 mAh g?1 can be achieved at a current density of 2.0 A g?1 after 3000 cycles. The superior electrochemical performance originates from the synergistic effects between the layered nanostructures and interlayer doping of Mn2+ ions and water molecules, which can enhance the electrons/ions transport kinetics and structural stability during cycling. With the aid of various ex situ characterization technologies and density functional theory calculations, the zinc‐ion storage mechanism can be revealed, which provides fundamental guidelines for developing high‐performance cathodes for ZIBs.  相似文献

Lithium ion batteries have attained great success in commercialization owing to their high energy density. However, the relatively delaying discharge/charge severely hinders their high power applications due to intrinsically diffusion‐controlled lithium storage of the electrode. This study demonstrates an ever‐increasing surface redox capacitive lithium storage originating from an unique microstructure evolution during cycling in a novel RGO–MnO–RGO sandwich nanostructure. Such surface pseudocapacitance is dynamically in equilibrium with diffusion‐controlled lithium storage, thereby achieving an unprecedented rate capability (331.9 mAh g?1 at 40 A g?1, 379 mAh g?1 after 4000 cycles at 15 A g?1) with outstanding cycle stability. The dynamic combination of surface and diffusion lithium storage of electrodes might open up possibilities for designing high‐power lithium ion batteries.  相似文献

Mg batteries as the most typical multivalent batteries are attracting increasing attention because of resource abundance, high volumetric energy density, and smooth plating/stripping of Mg anodes. However, current limitations for the progress of Mg batteries come from the lack of high voltage electrolytes and fast Mg‐insertable structure prototypes. In order to improve their energy or power density, hybrid systems combining Li‐driven cathode reaction with Mg anode process appear to be a potential solution by bypassing the aforementioned limitations. Here, FeS x (x = 1 or 2) is employed as conversion cathode with 2–4 electron transfers to achieve a maximum energy density close to 400 Wh kg?1, which is comparable with that of Li‐ion batteries but without serious dendrite growth and polysulphide dissolution. In situ formation of solid electrolyte interfaces on both sulfide and Mg electrodes is likely responsible for long‐life cycling and suppression of S‐species passivation at Mg anodes. Without any decoration on the cathode, electrolyte additive, or anode protection, a reversible capacity of more than 200 mAh g?1 is still preserved for Mg/FeS2 after 200 cycles.  相似文献

Sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs) are considered as promising alternatives to lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) for energy storage due to the abundance of sodium, especially for grid distribution systems. The practical implementation of SIBs, however, is severely hindered by their low energy density and poor cycling stability due to the poor electrochemical performance of the existing electrodes. Here, to achieve high‐capacity and durable sodium storage with good rate capability, hierarchical hollow NiS spheres with porous shells composed of nanoparticles are designed and synthesized by tuning the reaction parameters. The formation mechanism of this unique structure is systematically investigated, which is clearly revealed to be Ostwald ripening mechanism on the basis of the time‐dependent morphology evolution. The hierarchical hollow structure provides sufficient electrode/electrolyte contact, shortened Na+ diffusion pathways, and high strain‐tolerance capability. The hollow NiS spheres deliver high reversible capacity (683.8 mAh g?1 at 0.1 A g?1), excellent rate capability (337.4 mAh g?1 at 5 A g?1), and good cycling stability (499.9 mAh g?1 with 73% retention after 50 cycles at 0.1 A g?1).  相似文献

Na‐ion Batteries have been considered as promising alternatives to Li‐ion batteries due to the natural abundance of sodium resources. Searching for high‐performance anode materials currently becomes a hot topic and also a great challenge for developing Na‐ion batteries. In this work, a novel hybrid anode is synthesized consisting of ultrafine, few‐layered SnS2 anchored on few‐layered reduced graphene oxide (rGO) by a facile solvothermal route. The SnS2/rGO hybrid exhibits a high capacity, ultralong cycle life, and superior rate capability. The hybrid can deliver a high charge capacity of 649 mAh g?1 at 100 mA g?1. At 800 mA g?1 (1.8 C), it can yield an initial charge capacity of 469 mAh g?1, which can be maintained at 89% and 61%, respectively, after 400 and 1000 cycles. The hybrid can also sustain a current density up to 12.8 A g?1 (≈28 C) where the charge process can be completed in only 1.3 min while still delivering a charge capacity of 337 mAh g?1. The fast and stable Na‐storage ability of SnS2/rGO makes it a promising anode for Na‐ion batteries.  相似文献

Fast Li‐metal depletion and severe anode pulverization are the most critical obstacles for the energy‐dense Li‐metal full batteries using thin Li‐metal anodes (<50 µm). Here, a wavy‐nanostructured solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) with fast ion transfer kinetics is reported, which can promote high‐efficiency Li‐metal plating/stripping (>98% at 4 mAh cm?2) in conventional carbonate electrolyte. Cryogenic transmission electron microscopy (cryo‐TEM) further reveals the fundamental relationship between wavy‐nanostructured SEI, function, and the electrochemical performance. The wavy SEI with greatly decreased surface diffusion resistance can realize grain coarsening of Li‐metal deposition and exhaustive dissolution of active Li‐metal during the stripping process, which can effectively alleviate “dead Li” accumulation and anode pulverization problems in practical full cells. Under highly challenging conditions (45 µm Li‐metal anodes, 4.3 mAh cm?2 high capacity LiNi0.8Mn0.1Co0.1O2 cathodes), full cells exhibit significantly improved cycling lifespan (170 cycles; 20 cycles for control cells) via the application of wavy SEI.  相似文献

Biologically derived organic molecules are a cost‐effective and environmentally benign alternative to the widely used metal‐based electrodes employed in current energy storage technologies. Here, the first bio‐derived pendant polymer cathode for lithium‐ion batteries is reported. The redox moiety is flavin and is derived from riboflavin (vitamin B2). A semi‐synthetic methodology is used to prepare the pendant polymer, which is composed of a poly(norbornene) backbone and pendant flavin units. This semi‐synthetic approach reduces the number of chemical transformations required to form this new functional material. Lithium‐ion batteries incorporating this polymer have a 125 mAh g?1 capacity and an ≈2.5 V operating potential. It is found that charge transport is greatly improved by forming hierarchical structures of the polymer with carbon black, and new insight into electrode degradation mechanisms is provided which should be applicable to polymer electrodes in general. This work provides a foundation for the use of bio‐derived pendant polymers in sustainable, high‐performance lithium‐ion batteries.  相似文献
