This research work proposes a human perception-based distributed architecture for the multiparty video conferencing services. The new architecture can effectively reduce the unnecessary traffic of the multilayer video streams on the overlay network. Rich theoretical models of the three different architectures: the proposed perception-based distributed architecture, the conventional centralized architecture, and perception-based centralized architecture have been constructed by using queuing theory to reflect the traffic generated, transmitted, and processed by the three architectures. The performance has been considered in different aspects from the total waiting time to the required service rates. Together, the modeling tools, the analysis, and the numerical results help to answer the common concern about advantages and disadvantages of the centralized and distributed architectures. Overall, the proposed human perception-based distributed architecture can maintain a smaller total waiting time with a much smaller requirement of service rate in comparison with the conventional centralized architecture and perception-based centralized architecture.  相似文献

Video prefetching is a technique that has been proposed for the transmission of variable-bit-rate (VBR) videos over packet-switched networks. The objective of these protocols is to prefetch future frames at the customers' set-top box (STB) during light load periods. Experimental results have shown that video prefetching is very effective and it achieves much higher network utilization (and potentially larger number of simultaneous connections) than the traditional video smoothing schemes. The previously proposed prefetching algorithms, however, can only be efficiently implemented when there is one centralized server. In a distributed environment there is a large degradation in their performance. In this paper we introduce a new scheme that utilizes smoothing along with prefetching, to overcome the problem of distributed prefetching. We show that our scheme performs almost as well as the centralized prefetching protocol even though it is implemented in a distributed environment. In addition, we introduce a call admission control algorithm for a fully interactive video-on-demand (VoD) system that utilizes this concept of distributed video prefetching. Using the theory of effective bandwidths, we develop an admission control algorithm for new requests, based on the user's viewing behavior and the required quality of service (QoS).  相似文献

With the explosion of global data,centralized cloud computing cannot provide low-latency,high-efficiency video surveillance services.A distributed edge computing model was proposed,which directly processed video data at the edge node to reduce the transmission pressure of the network,eased the computational burden of the central cloud server,and reduced the processing delay of the video surveillance system.Combined with the federated learning algorithm,a lightweight neural network was used,which trained in different scenarios and deployed on edge devices with limited computing power.Experimental results show that,compared with the general neural network model,the detection accuracy of the proposed method is improved by 18%,and the model training time is reduced.  相似文献

Peer-to-peer collaboration paradigms fundamentally change the passive way wireless stations currently adapt their transmission strategies to match available resources, by enabling them to proactively influence system dynamics through exchange of information and resources. In this paper, we focus on delay-sensitive multimedia transmission among multiple peers over wireless multi-hop enterprise mesh networks. We propose a distributed and efficient framework for resource exchanges that enables peers to collaboratively distribute available wireless resources among themselves based on their quality of service requirements, the underlying channel conditions, and network topology. The resource exchanges are enabled by the scalable coding of the video content and the design of cross-layer optimization strategies, which allow efficient adaptation to varying channel conditions and available resources. We compare our designed low complexity distributed resource exchange algorithms against an optimal centralized resource management scheme and show how their performance varies with the level of collaboration among the peers. We measure system utility in terms of the multimedia quality and show that collaborative approaches achieve ~50% improvement over non-collaborative approaches. Additionally, our distributed algorithms perform within 10% system utility of a centralized optimal resource management scheme. Finally, we observe 2-5 dB improvement in decoded PSNR for each peer due to the deployed cross-layer strategy  相似文献

随着互联网技术的发展,互联网视听节目的传播手段、内容、形式也发生了巨大变化。在监管系统建设构成中针对不同的传播方式,适时建设相应的专项监管系统,多个功能专一的监管系统,给使用和信息的互联互通带来很多不便,造成工作效率低,信息资源不能充分发挥作用。针对广电系统内视听节目监管系统存在的问题以及缺乏全局的、系统化的解决方案的现状,提出构建互联网视听节目综合的集中监管平台,主要是建设“互联网视听节目信息资源库”,以及“监管数据集中分析处理系统”和“监管业务集中处理系统”两个系统,实现对各类海量视听节目数据快速分析处理,更加准确地掌握各类视听节目网络传播的数量、动态、范围、影响等情况,综合提升舆情分析能力,提高监管效率。  相似文献

A number of mobile Online Social Networking (OSN) services have appeared in the market in recent times. While most mobile systems benefit greatly from cloud services, centralized servers and communications infrastructure is not always available. Nor are location-based services offered to mobile devices without GPS. To take advantage of cloud and to address these problems, a Wi-Fi based multihop networking system called MoNet is proposed. On top of MoNET we propose a privacy-aware geosocial networking service called WiFace. Where there is no infrastructure, a distributed content sharing protocol significantly shortens the relay path, reduces conflicts, and improves data availability. Furthermore, a security mechanism is developed to protect privacy. Comprehensive experiments performed on MoNet show that the system is more than sufficient to support social networking and even audio and video applications.  相似文献

本文提出了一个分层的实时视频传输系统模型CRR.在CRR中,作者设计了一个高效的应用级的Multicast协议RTMTP,利用逻辑时钟和缓冲队列的处理保证视频传输的实时性;加入了分层的反馈-调整机制以改进对网络流量的管理,避免了传统模型中集中处理、灵活性较差的流量控制;通过Repeater实现了QoS的层次化,还解决了Multicast报文的转发问题.最后介绍了CRR模型的实现技术,测试了基于该模型的实例系统Virtual Lab的性能.  相似文献

Recent advances in forward error correction and scalable video coding enable new approaches for robust, distributed streaming in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs). This paper presents an approach for distribution of real time video by uncoordinated peer-to-peer relay or source nodes in an overlay network on top of a MANET. The approach proposed here allows for distributed, rate-distortion optimized transmission-rate allocation for competing scalable video streams at relay nodes in the overlay network. The approach has the desirable feature of path/source diversity that can be used for enhancing reliability in connectivity to serving nodes and/or attaining a higher throughput. The distributed approach reduces signaling overhead as well as avoiding scalability issues that come with centralized processing in MANETs. Results show a significant performance gain over both single-server systems and previously proposed multi-source systems.  相似文献

The interactive video (IV) market has been expected to capture a significant share of the huge potential revenues to be generated by the business and residential markets. The level of revenues generated depends on the completion rate of calls the service provider can support, no matter what the IV system or network condition. Thus, a cost-effective, scalable fault-tolerant IV system is needed to maximize the video call completion rate at an affordable cost. This article describes design methodologies for a scalable, fault-tolerant IV system and an IV system design and analysis research prototype called IVSDNA (IV System Designer and Analyzer). The IVSDNA prototype is designed to help network planners and engineers to evaluate quantitative trade-offs (in terms of network communications costs, video storage costs, and degree of system fault tolerance) between two major IV system architectures (centralized and distributed) with a variety of video distribution methods, replication strategies, and fault-tolerant access protocols  相似文献

With video-on-demand (VoD) regarded as one of the drivers for the deployment of broadband integrated service digital networks (B-ISDNs), an important issue is how to provide wide area VoD services most efficiently. A large contributor to the cost of a VoD system is storage. The nature of the service requires massive amounts of storage and bandwidth to be supplied from a video server located within the network. We examine the costs of storage in such servers and develop an efficient allocation scheme designed to minimize this cost. Using this scheme, centralized and distributed approaches to VoD are compared. We conclude that a distributed approach to storage costs no more than a centralized approach and offers considerable advantages in terms of bandwidth requirements and service quality  相似文献
