In this paper, the problem of multiuser detection for synchronous code division multiple access systems in both additive white Gaussian noise and multipath channels is addressed. A new multiuser detection receiver that uses an adaptive blind array along with an adaptive parallel interference canceler is proposed. The replacement of a conventional antenna array with a two-dimensional RAKE receiver is also considered for frequency selective Rayleigh fading channels. By using a constrained optimization criterion along with the gradient-projection algorithm, a blind algorithm for the adaptation of the array response vector is proposed. The new algorithm is superior to a few typical blind algorithms in the literature in terms of both performance and computational complexity. The proposed receiver has the ability to cancel very strong multiple access interference coming from the same direction as the desired signal. Simulation results are presented to show the excellent performance of the proposed combination scheme in comparison to that of using either a multiuser detection or adaptive antenna arrays in a severe near-far situation.  相似文献

We have analyzed and compared two different multiuser detection receiver structures that are appropriate for code-division multiple access (CDMA) systems with multiple antennas in frequency-selective multipath channels. Distributed decorrelation detection (where signal decorrelation is performed at each receiving antenna) and centralized decorrelation detection (where decorrelation is performed once collectively) are compared. We show that they provide the same performance in additive Gaussian channels. Centralized decorrelation detection provides better performance in general frequency-selective multipath fading channels. Therefore, the hardware cost, complexity, and processing at the receiver can be optimized using centralized decorrelation detection. We employ decorrelation detection to demonstrate our results, although the work can be easily extended to other linear multiuser detection configurations.  相似文献

A way to allow variable data rates in CDMA is by varying the spreading factor in accordance with the data rate requested by the user. A detection scheme suitable for multirate transmission is required in addition to one that combats multiple access interference of other users and intersymbol interference from multipath. In this letter, an energy-add multiuser detection method is combined with a scheme called Cholesky-iterative detection to cope with these challenges. It allows the users to be estimated on a symbol-by-symbol basis, making receiver complexity independent of data package length. Simulation results correspond closely to a single-user lower bound. The results also show that the bit-error probability performances of the various users for the Cholesky-iterative detector are closely clustered, while those of a previously published scheme, decorrelation feedback detection, are more widely spread  相似文献

Group-blind multiuser detection for uplink CDMA   总被引:16,自引:0,他引:16  
Previously developed blind techniques for multiuser detection in code division multiple access (CDMA) systems lead to several near-far resistant adaptive receivers for demodulating a given user's data with the prior knowledge of only the spreading sequence of that user. In the CDMA uplink, however, typically the base station receiver has the knowledge of the spreading sequences of all the users within the cell, but not that of the users from other cells. In this paper, group-blind techniques are developed for multiuser detection in such scenarios. These new techniques make use of the spreading sequences and the estimated multipath channels of all known users to suppress the intracell interference, while blindly suppressing the intercell interference. Several forms of group-blind linear detectors are developed based on different criteria. Moreover, group-blind multiuser detection in the presence of correlated noise is also considered. In this case, two receiving antennas are needed for channel estimation and signal separation. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed group-blind linear multiuser detection techniques offer substantial performance gains over the blind linear multiuser detection methods in a CDMA uplink environment  相似文献

This paper proposes a low complexity joint space-time multiuser detection algorithm for asynchronous DS/CDMA antenna array systems. The proposed multiuser detector is composed of an adaptive antenna array, used as a linear beamformer, and a sliding window decorrelator. A QPSK modulation scheme is used in order to increase bandwidth efficiency. Numerical results are given in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) under the assumption of a frequency-selective Rayleigh slow fading channel. In particular, the proposed receiver is shown to be near-far resistant, even in worst fading cases, and to exploit completely array introduction while maintaining acceptable computational complexity. The proposed architecture avoids linear filter realization of the decorrelator, which is impractical in the case of a large number of users, and operates with relatively short data frames instead of the complete information sequence. Finally, this receiver is very flexible to changes in timing configuration.  相似文献

Recently developed subspace techniques for blind adaptive multiuser detection are briefly reviewed first. In particular, blind methods based on signal subspace tracking for adapting linear multiuser detectors in AWGN CDMA channels are considered, as well as extensions of these techniques to frequency selective fading channels, dispersive channels, and antenna array spatial processing. In addition, subspace‐based nonlinear adaptive techniques for robust blind multiuser detection in non‐Gaussian ambient noise channels are also described. Several new techniques are then developed within the subspace framework for blind joint channel estimation and multiuser detection, under some specific channel conditions. These include (1) an adaptive receiver structure for joint multiuser detection and equalization in dispersive CDMA channels, (2) a subspace method for joint multiuser detection and equalization in unknown correlated noise, and (3) a method for joint interference suppression and channel tracking in time‐varying fading channels. We compare the distributed decorrelator (where signal decorrelation is performed at each receiving antenna) and the centralized decorrelator (where decorrelation is performed once collectively). We present a multisensor, multiuser receiver that is capable of operating in an underwater acoustic channel with severe multipath. For each active user, the receiver consists of a multi-input, single-output array processing filter followed by a single-channel adaptive equalizer. The array processing filter is chosen to maximize an averaged performance metric which measures reduction in the interference from multiple asynchronous cochannel users and the reduction in intersymbol interference caused by time spreading of the transmitted signal. The single-channel adaptive equalizer that follows the array processing filter eliminates the remaining intersymbol interference prior to hard symbol decisions. The division of labor between the array processing filter and single-channel equalizer reduces receiver complexity by allowing the array processing filter weights to be based on the fixed deterministic channel component and the single-channel equalizer to be based on the stochastic channel component. Receiver performance is demonstrated using data obtained from two shallow-water acoustic channels where two cochannel users are transmitting in shallow water at 18 and 30 nautical miles from the receiver array  相似文献

A new multiuser detection scheme based on signal subspace estimation is proposed. It is shown that under this scheme, both the decorrelating detector and the linear minimum-mean-square-error (MMSE) detector can be obtained blindly, i.e., they can be estimated from the received signal with the prior knowledge of only the signature waveform and timing of the user of interest. The consistency and asymptotic variance of the estimates of the two linear detectors are examined. A blind adaptive implementation based on a signal subspace tracking algorithm is also developed. It is seen that compared with the previous minimum-output-energy blind adaptive multiuser detector, the proposed subspace-based blind adaptive detector offers lower computational complexity, better performance, and robustness against signature waveform mismatch. Two extensions are made within the framework of signal subspace estimation. First, a blind adaptive method is developed for estimating the effective user signature waveform in the multipath channel. Secondly, a multiuser detection scheme using spatial diversity in the form of an antenna array is considered. A blind adaptive technique for estimating the array response for diversity combining is proposed. It is seen that under the proposed subspace approach, blind adaptive channel estimation and blind adaptive array response estimation can be integrated with blind adaptive multiuser detection, with little attendant increase in complexity  相似文献

In this paper, we compare the asymptotic performance of the decorrelator approaches to multiuser detection in code-division multiple-access (CDMA). Precoding is the decorrelation which is performed at a common transmitter such as the base station or satellite that allows single-user detection at the handset receiver. Receiver-based decorrelator decorrelates multiple user signals at the receiver side. We analyze the performance of the aforementioned decorrelation approaches with time-varying random spreading sequences in additive white Gaussian noise channels. The results demonstrate that the performance of precoding and that of receiver-based decorrelator are asymptotically equivalent.  相似文献

Noncoherent multiuser detection for nonlinear modulation was previously studied and the idea of phase-independent noncoherent decorrelation was introduced and three post-decorrelative detectors were obtained and analyzed. However, their implementation requires the knowledge of the signature waveforms of all the users, which may be available only for centralized implementation. In this paper, we obtain a blind adaptive noncoherent decorrelative detector for nonlinear modulation that is suitable for distributed implementation with the knowledge of only the normalized signals of the desired user and the additive noise variance. This detector is based on the stochastic approximation method and does not require the overhead of any kind of "training." Two adaptive algorithms are developed, one guided by every signal in the desired user's signal set individually, and the other by the user's entire signal space. While this paper focuses on the particular problem of blind adaptive noncoherent decorrelative detection, it addresses a more general adaptation issue, namely, that of improving the convergence properties of an adaptive scheme by effectively using all the information that is known, and adapting only to the part of the desired solution that is truly unknown. Convergence is shown in the mean squared error sense for both the fixed step-size and time-varying step-size versions of the two algorithms.  相似文献

We propose a blind multiuser detection technique for array processing and code division multiple access (CDMA) systems that does not require knowledge of the array geometry or transmitter signature sequences. The technique has two key elements: an adaptive algorithm for separating the signal subspace from the noise subspace and an adaptive whitener based on linear prediction. 本文讨论的接收机是用于DS/CDMA系统的多级自适应阵列和串行干扰消除联合接收机(AA-SIC),介绍的接收机同时使用了空域和时域处理以及多用户联合检测技术.一般的联合接收机要使用RAKE单元,本文所讨论的接收机没有使用RAKE单元,而利用智能天线的自适应算法能起到分集接收的功能,不仅能抑制多址干扰信号,而且构成简便,计算时间较短,有利于实际应用.  相似文献

In recent years, some blind adaptive multiuser detectors have been presented to implement multiuser detection with only the knowledge of the desired user's spreading code and propagation delay. We find, in this paper, that with the aid of the antenna array, multiuser detection can be achieved even without the desired user's spreading code and propagation delay, provided that the direction of arrival of every user is different from each other. A stochastic gradient-based decorrelation is suggested for separation of an unknown linear mixture of signals. It is shown that while the decorrelation algorithm is similar in cost to the LMS algorithm, its rate of convergence is significantly faster making it more attractive for signal separation. Analysis of the decorrelator algorithm shows that the faster speed of convergence is a consequence of the eigenvalues spread associated with the decorrelation problem, which is smaller than the spread associated with the corresponding mean square problem. The problem of multiuser detection in multipath CDMA channels with receiver antenna array is considered. The optimal space-time multiuser receiver structure is first derived, followed by linear space-time multiuser detection methods based on iterative interference cancellation. Blind adaptive space-time multiuser detection techniques are then proposed, which require prior knowledge of only the spreading waveform and the timing of the desired user's signal. Single-user-based space-time processing methods are also considered and are compared with the multiuser approach. It is seen that the proposed multiuser space-time processing techniques offer substantial performance gains over the single-user-based methods, especially in a near-far situation  相似文献

The problems of channel estimation and multiuser detection for direct sequence code division multiple access (DS/CDMA) systems employing long spreading codes are considered. With regard to channel estimation, several procedures are proposed based on the least-squares approach, relying on the transmission of known training symbols but not requiring any timing synchronization. In particular, algorithms suited for the forward and reverse links of a single-rate DS/CDMA cellular system are developed, and the case of a multirate/multicode system, wherein high-rate users are split into multiple virtual low-rate users, is also considered. All of the proposed procedures are recursively implementable with a computational complexity that is quadratic in the processing gain, with regard to the issue of multiuser detection, an adaptive serial interference cancellation (SIC) receiver is considered, where the adaptivity stems from the fact that it is built upon the channel estimates provided by the estimation algorithm. Simulation results show that coupling the proposed estimation algorithms with a SIC receiver may yield, with a much lower computational complexity, performance levels close to those of the ideal linear minimum mean square error (MMSE) receiver, which assumes perfect knowledge of the channels for all of the users and which (in a long-code scenario) has a computational complexity per symbol interval proportional to the third power of the processing gain  相似文献

In this paper, the authors consider an asynchronous direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS/CDMA) system wherein users are allowed to transmit their symbols at one out of two available data rates. Three possible access schemes are considered, namely, the variable spreading length (VSL), the variable chip rate (VCR), and the variable chip rate with frequency shift (VCRFS) formats. Their performance is compared for the case that a linear one-shot multiuser receiver is employed. It is also shown that detection of the users transmitting at the higher rate requires a periodically time-varying processing of the observables. Moreover, the problem of blind adaptive receiver implementation is studied, and a cyclic blind recursive-least-squares (RLS) algorithm is provided which is capable of converging to the periodically time-varying high-rate users detection structure. Numerical results show that the proposed receivers are near-far resistant, and that the VCRFS access technique achieves the best performance. Finally as to the adaptive blind receiver implementation, computer simulations have revealed that the cyclic RLS algorithm for blind adaptive high-rate users demodulation outperforms the conventional RLS algorithm in most cases of primary importance  相似文献

A modified constant modulus (CM) algorithm based blind multiuser equaliser with a decision directed (DD) scheme is developed that does not require any mutual decorrelation and is suitable for downlink direct sequence code division multiple access systems. The performance of the proposed time domain adaptive equaliser is evaluated with respect to usual parameters and is found to perform better than the concurrent CM algorithm and DD scheme.  相似文献
