A feeder link is the portion of a broadcasting-satellite system which provides the connection from the earth to the broadcasting satellite. Quality objectives for feeder links are normally well above the corresponding objectives for downlinks. The parameters which affect signal quality are examined. It is shown that the greatest control over theC/N ratio lies with the selection of suitable values for the diameter of the feeder link transmit antenna and the power of its associated transmitter. Three mechanisms are available to combat interference between feeder links: discrimination resulting from the feeder link transmit antenna pattern, discrimination derived from the satellite receive antenna pattern, and discrimination due to the use of cross-polarized signals. The use of these mechanisms to create a workable feeder link plan is developed in the paper. There are a number of desirable objectives that can be established for a feeder link plan in addition to the obvious need to meet signal quality (C/N ) and interference (C/I ) requirements. A realizable set of objectives is presented along with the approaches used at the ITU Region 2 planning conference to create a satisfactory plan. The technical parameters which must be agreed on in order to develop a feeder link plan are summarized, and the values chosen for the Region 2 plan are presented. 相似文献

Pocklington's integral equation for a sleeve antenna with ground wires is formulated. By applying the Galerkin method to this equation, a sleeve antenna, a monopole antenna with ground wires, and a sleeve antenna with ground wires are analyzed, and numerical results for these antennas are compared with measured data. The sleeve antenna features the leakage current on the surface of the coaxial feeder, suppressed by a sperrtopf, but it is mismatched with the 50-Ω feeder. The monopole antenna with inclined ground wires may be adjusted to match the 50-Ω feeder, but the leakage current induced on the feeder cannot be neglected. The authors investigate the feasibility of using an optical fiber feeder for microcellular mobile communication systems. The optical feeder enables compact and low-cost base stations, easy radio channel control, and flexible mobile communication systems. Basic transmission characteristics were investigated through optical transmission experiments. Using these results, it is estimated that the optical feeder can transmit 880 telephone channels for digital TDM systems and 2000 channels for analog FDM systems through 20 km of optical fiber. This paper investigates how to reduce the cost of wavelength division multiplexing passive optical network (WDM- PON) by comparing the transmission performance of bidirectional single feeder fiber and dual feeder fiber. Comparison is performed on the basis of power budgeting and cost of both arrangements. Simulation results using Optisystem show that the performance of a single feeder fiber is almost equivalent to that of a dual feeder fiber. Therefore, the single feeder fiber WDM-PON can efficiently replace the dual feeder fiber WDM-PON with the minimum deterioration in system performance and reduction in cost. 相似文献

This paper addresses the problem of the directly connected antenna to the keying radionavigation transmitter. The proposed solution to this problem is to connect a feeder between the bandpass circuit of the transmitter output stage and the transmitting antenna. Operational specific features of the keying transmitter of pulse-phase radionavigation system are considered for a long feeder.
