Identifying codes can be used to locate malfunctioning processors. We say that a code C of length n is a linear (1,/spl les/l)-identifying code if it is a subspace of F/sub 2//sup n/ and for all X,Y/spl sube/F/sub 2//sup n/ such that |X|, |Y|/spl les/l and X/spl ne/Y, we have /spl cup//sub x/spl isin/X/(B(x)/spl cap/C)/spl ne//spl cup/y/spl isin/Y(B(y)/spl cap/C). Strongly (1,/spl les/l)-identifying codes are a variant of identifying codes. We determine the cardinalities of optimal linear (1,/spl les/l)-identifying and strongly (1,/spl les/l)-identifying codes in Hamming spaces of any dimension for locating any at most l malfunctioning processors.  相似文献

The topology of a wireless multi-hop network can be controlled by varying the transmission power at each node. In this paper, we give a detailed analysis of a cone-based distributed topology-control (CBTC) algorithm. This algorithm does not assume that nodes have GPS information available; rather it depends only on directional information. Roughly speaking, the basic idea of the algorithm is that a node u transmits with the minimum power p/sub u,/spl alpha// required to ensure that in every cone of degree /spl alpha/ around u, there is some node that u can reach with power p/sub u,/spl alpha//. We show that taking /spl alpha/=5/spl pi//6 is a necessary and sufficient condition to guarantee that network connectivity is preserved. More precisely, if there is a path from s to t when every node communicates at maximum power then, if /spl alpha//spl les/5/spl pi//6, there is still a path in the smallest symmetric graph G/sub /spl alpha// containing all edges (u,v) such that u can communicate with v using power p/sub u,/spl alpha//. On the other hand, if /spl alpha/>5/spl pi//6, connectivity is not necessarily preserved. We also propose a set of optimizations that further reduce power consumption and prove that they retain network connectivity. Dynamic reconfiguration in the presence of failures and mobility is also discussed. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm and the optimizations.  相似文献

Two new information-theoretic methods are introduced for establishing Poisson approximation inequalities. First, using only elementary information-theoretic techniques it is shown that, when S/sub n/=/spl Sigma//sub i=1//sup n/X/sub i/ is the sum of the (possibly dependent) binary random variables X/sub 1/,X/sub 2/,...,X/sub n/, with E(X/sub i/)=p/sub i/ and E(S/sub n/)=/spl lambda/, then D(P(S/sub n/)/spl par/Po(/spl lambda/)) /spl les//spl Sigma//sub i=1//sup n/p/sub i//sup 2/+[/spl Sigma//sub i=1//sup n/H(X/sub i/)-H(X/sub 1/,X/sub 2/,...,X/sub n/)] where D(P(S/sub n/)/spl par/Po(/spl lambda/)) is the relative entropy between the distribution of S/sub n/ and the Poisson (/spl lambda/) distribution. The first term in this bound measures the individual smallness of the X/sub i/ and the second term measures their dependence. A general method is outlined for obtaining corresponding bounds when approximating the distribution of a sum of general discrete random variables by an infinitely divisible distribution. Second, in the particular case when the X/sub i/ are independent, the following sharper bound is established: D(P(S/sub n/)/spl par/Po(/spl lambda/))/spl les/1//spl lambda/ /spl Sigma//sub i=1//sup n/ ((p/sub i//sup 3/)/(1-p/sub i/)) and it is also generalized to the case when the X/sub i/ are general integer-valued random variables. The hybrid model for propagation-loss prediction in tunnels is discussed and its limitations are given. The values from the waveguide model with /spl gamma//sub 2/<2 are applicable for only short distances and for tunnels with low specific attenuation factor (/spl alpha/). The relation between the quality factor Q and the attenuation constant /spl alpha/ of a transmission line has been known as follows: /spl alpha/ = /spl beta/ / /2Q where /spl beta/ is the phase constant. Yeh derived a general relation between Q and /spl alpha/, namely, /spl alpha/ = /spl upsi//sub p/ / /spl upsi//sub g/ /spl beta/ / /2Q where /spl upsi//sub p/, and /spl upsi//sub g/ are the phase velocity and group velocity of the wave respectively. Let g be a continuous, compactly supported function on such that the integer translates of g constitute a partition of unity. We show that the Gabor system (g,a,b), with window g and time-shift and frequency-shift parameters a,b>0 has no lower frame bound larger than 0 if b=2,3,... and a>0. In particular, (g,a,b) is not a Gabor frame if g is a continuous, compactly supported wavelet scaling function and if b=2,3,... and a>0. We give an example for our result for the case that g=B/sub 1/, the triangle function supported by [-1,1], by showing pictures of the canonical dual corresponding to (g,a,b) where ab=1/4 and b crosses the lines N=2,3,.  相似文献

In order to assist the microwave engineer in predicting the performance of partially magnetized devices, we have characterized the microwave permeability of partially magnetized materials. The real part of the tensor permeability elements, /spl mu/, /spl kappa/, and /spl mu//sub z/, depends primarily on the parameters /spl gamma/4/spl pi/M//spl omega/ and /spl gamma/4/spl pi/M/sub s/ / /spl omega/. Empirical formulas have been developed which show the dependence. At frequencies sufficiently below /spl omega/ = /spl pi/4/spl pi/M/sub s/, the loss can be characterized by the value of /spl mu/' at 4/spl pi/M = 0./spl mu/, /spl kappa/, and /spl mu//sub z/ depend weakly on composition, whereas /spl mu/' (4/spl pi/M = 0) does depend upon the chemical composition.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to identify conditions under which the presence of tall strike object can serve to increase or decrease lightning-induced voltages on a nearby overhead wire. We examined the ratios of magnitudes of lightning-induced voltages on the overhead wire for the cases of strikes to a tall object and to flat ground as a function of distance from the lightning channel d, current reflection coefficients at the top of the strike object /spl rho//sub top/ and at the bottom of the strike object /spl rho//sub bot/, the current reflection coefficient at the channel base (in the case of strikes to flat ground) /spl rho//sub gr/, and the return stroke speed v. Lightning-induced voltages were computed using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The transmission line (TL) model was used to find the distribution of current along the lightning channel and the strike object. Frames are the most widely used tool for signal representation in different domains. In this correspondence, we introduce the concept of product-function frames for l/sup 2/(/spl Zopf/). The frame elements of these frames are represented as products of two or more sequences. This forms a generalized structure for many currently existing transforms. We define necessary and sufficient conditions on the frame elements so that they form a frame for l/sup 2/(/spl Zopf/). We obtain windowed transforms as a special case and derive the biorthogonal-like condition. Finally, we introduce a new family of transforms for finite-dimensional subspaces of l/sup 2/(/spl Zopf/), which we call the "scalemodulation transforms". The frame elements of these transforms can be obtained via scaling and modulating a "mother" window. This transform, thus, complements the shift-modulation structure of the discrete-time Gabor transform and the shift-scale structure of the discrete wavelet transform.  相似文献

We show that A~/sub n/~ (the topological closure of A/sub n/) is a closed convex cone in R/sup /spl nu//. This implies that the approximate achievability of a point as an allocation of entropy is determined by the linear inequalities that it satisfies. Lieb and Ruskai (1973) have established a number of inequalities for multipartite quantum states (strong subadditivity and weak monotonicity). We give a finite set of instances of these inequalities that is complete (in the sense that any valid linear inequality for allocations of entropy can be deduced from them by taking positive linear combinations) and independent (in the sense that none of them can be deduced from the others by taking positive linear combinations). We consider selection problems on k lognormal (/spl mu//sub i/,/spl sigma//sub i//sup 2/) populations when the /spl sigma//sub i//sup 2/ are unequal, under both known & unknown cases. Selection based on linear functions of /spl mu/ & /spl sigma//sup 2/ are considered. For the unequal & unknown /spl sigma//sub i//sup 2/ case, a two-stage Rinott-type asymptotic procedure is proposed. In consideration to reliability & survival analysis applications, an asymptotic procedure is also proposed for the parametric selection based on the /spl alpha/-quantiles. Simulation studies to evaluate the procedures & to compare the latter procedure to the nonparametric procedure based on the /spl alpha/-quantiles are presented. A uniplanar wideband bandstop filter is proposed using two bent open-end stubs. The proposed filter consists of the bent connecting line of /spl lambda//sub g//2 between two bent /spl lambda//sub g//4 stubs, which results in wideband design with a rejection bandwidth of 90% at 2.05 GHz. Further, the connecting line and stubs have the same characteristic impedance. The proposed filter compared to the conventional one is also more compact. The area of the novel filter is (/spl lambda//sub g//4)/sup 2/ at the center frequency of the stopband, while the area of the filter realized using the nonbent stubs and connecting line is 2(/spl lambda//sub g//4)/sup 2/ for the same stopband characteristics.  相似文献

This carries the q-ray 1-generator quasicyclic (QC) code R a_(x) onto the code RA(x) in S whose parity-check polynomial (p.c.p.) is defined as the monic polynomial h(x) over F/sub q/ of least degree such that h(x)A(x) = 0. In the special case, where gcd(q, m) = 1 and where the prime factorizations of x/sub m/ 1 over F/sub q/ and F/sub qn/ are the same we show that there exists a one-to-one correspondence between the q-ary 1-generator quasis-cyclic codes with p.c.p. h(x) and the elements of the factor group J* /I* where J is the ideal in S with p.c.p. h(x) and I the corresponding quantity in R. We then describe an algorithm for generating the elements of J*/I*. Next, we show that if we choose a normal basis for F/sub qn/ over F/sub q/, then we can modify the aforementioned algorithm to eliminate a certain number of equivalent codes, thereby rending the algorithm more attractive from a computational point of view. Finally in Section IV, we show how to modify the above algorithm in order to generate all the binary self-dual 1-generator QC codes.  相似文献

Computer-Aided Design of Three-Port Waveguide Junction Circulators   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The complete performance of a lossless three-port H-plane waveguide junction loaded coaxially with various inhomogeneous ferrite cylanders has been evaluated over the waveguide bandwidth and compared with experiment. Qualitative agreement between the predicted and measured performance was generally good using only the first three modes, n=0/spl plusmn/1. It has been shown theoretically and verified experimentally that if the 4/spl pi/M/sub s/ of a homogeneous rod or the internal field is increased, the circulation frequency f/sub 0/ increases; conversely, if the pemittivity is increased, f/sub 0/ decreases. These conflicting effects are modified when the magnetization 4/spl pi/M/sub s/ and permittivity /spl epsiv/ are inhomogeneous. For example, if the 4/spl pi/M/sub s/(/spl gamma/) is small at the outer surface of the rod (with permittivity held constant), the effect on f/sub 0/ is very small; but if 4/spl pi/M/sub s/(spl gamma) approaches zero for /spl gamma/ small, then f/sub 0/ may decrease significantly. On the other hand, if /spl epsiv//sub/spl gamma//(/spl gamma/) approaches unity near the outer surface of the rod, f/sub 0/ may increase significantly; but if /spl epsiv//sub/spl gamma//(/spl gamma/) approaches unity near the center of the rod, f/sub 0/ is affected relatively little. The inhomogeneous structure has also shown that decreasing the ferrite volume may improve the performance, and high-power applications are suggested. With a conducting pin down the center of the ferrite, relative bandwidths of 40-50 percent are predicted.  相似文献

In this paper, a new class of distributed space-time block codes (DSTBCs) is introduced. These DSTBCs are designed for wireless networks which have a large set of single-antenna relay nodes /spl Nscr/, but at any given time only a small, a priori unknown subset of nodes S/spl sube//spl Nscr/ can be active. In the proposed scheme, the signal transmitted by an active relay node is the product of an information-carrying code matrix and a unique node signature vector of length N/sub c/. It is shown that existing STBCs designed for N/sub c/2 co-located antennas are favorable choices for the code matrix, guaranteeing a diversity order of d=min{N/sub S/,N/sub c/} if N/sub S/ nodes are active. For the most interesting case, N/sub S//spl ges/N/sub c/, the performance loss entailed by the distributed implementation is analytically characterized. Furthermore, efficient methods for the optimization of the set of signature vectors are provided. Depending on the chosen design, the proposed DSTBCs allow for low-complexity coherent, differential, and noncoherent detection, respectively. Possible applications include ad hoc and sensor networks employing decode-and-forward relaying.  相似文献

Under criterion ii), we first determine the minimum rate achieved by FV codes. Next, we show that 1/nl(/spl phi//sub n/(X/sup n/)) of an arbitrary FV code achieving the minimum rate in a certain sense has a property similar to the lossless case.  相似文献

A semi-empirical model of the ensemble-averaged differential Mueller matrix for microwave backscattering from bare soil surfaces is presented. Based on existing scattering models and data sets measured by polarimetric scatterometers and the JPL AirSAR, the parameters of the co-polarized phase-difference probability density function, namely the degree of correlation /spl alpha/ and the co-polarized phase-difference /spl sigmav/, in addition to the backscattering coefficients /spl sigma//sub /spl nu//spl nu///sup 0/,/spl sigma//sub hh//sup 0/ and /spl sigma//sub /spl nu/h//sup 0/, are modeled empirically in terms of the volumetric soil moisture content m/sub /spl nu// and the surface roughness parameters ks and kl, where k=2/spl pi/f/c, s is the rms height and l is the correlation length. Consequently, the ensemble-averaged differential Mueller matrix (or the differential Stokes scattering operator) is specified completely by /spl sigma//sub /spl nu//spl nu///sup 0/,/spl sigma//sub hh//sup 0/,/spl sigma//sub /spl nu/h//sup 0/,/spl alpha/, and /spl zeta/.  相似文献
