Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to explore word of mouth impact on the adoption of mobile banking in Iran. This study provides insights into factors affecting the adoption of mobile banking in Iran.

Design/methodology/approach

Based on the consumer data collected through a survey, structural equations modeling and path analysis were employed to test the research model.

Findings

The results revealed that “Word of Mouth” was found to be the main factor affecting users attitudes toward the use of mobile banking. “Word of Mouth” positive impact on other factors affecting the adoption of mobile banking was also approved.

Research limitations/implications

The major limitations of the paper is that it studies only the Internet users and non-users are not considered.

Originality/value

There are a number of factors efficiently on the adoption of mobile banking. Many researchers worked on the relationship between these parameters and their effect on each them. However, none have paid attention to the word of mouth impact of the adoption of mobile banking. In this study, for the first time, the word of mouth factor impact on the adoption of mobile banking in Iran is considered as the main contribution of the paper.  相似文献

This paper analyzed the adoption of using mobile learning (m-learning) in higher education. Mobile Learning as a model of e-learning refers to the acquisition of knowledge, skills and attitudes by utilizing mobile technologies. With the increasing coverage of mobile networks, learning services can play the increasing and effective role in education at any time and place. Continuous access via mobile devices creates special facilities like sending and saving the learning content to learners etc, it is accompanied with continuous education. This paper, with a study of “what is the impact of the mobile phone usage in education?” provides approaches and theories of mobile learning in training. The paper aimed to evaluate the essential factors for the adoption and application of education information system that has been created by students. The survey was based on the history of technology adoption and covered students. Furthermore, a case study from students of K. N. Toosi University in Iran was presented to indicate the performance of this method in practice. The statistical society included 300 members from Information Technology students of Iran's K. N. Toosi University of Technology. The factors related to adoption of mobile learning in higher education was classified into seven main categories as: ease of use, trust, characters and personal qualities, context, perceived usefulness of using, behavioral intention, and culture of using a research model. From the results, mobile learning could be one of the promising educational technologies for development in educational environments and culture of using. The context of applications has a significant positive effect on the ease of use factor and usefulness and the ease of use has a positive effect on the usefulness factor. The trust factor has a positive and significant effect on the behavioral intention. The personal features and characters factor have a significant positive effect on the culture of using and the culture of using the application has a significant positive effect on the behavioral intention.  相似文献

Transfer From Offline Trust to Key Online Perceptions: An Empirical Study   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Research has provided little evidence that trust in an offline bank can encourage adoption of the bank's online business. Yet, more and more brick-and-mortar banks and other businesses are investing in online Web sites that supposedly ldquoleveragerdquo positive consumer impressions of their offline business. The main purpose of this study is to test empirically whether or not trust in an offline bank transfers (i.e., influences) perceptions about that company's online bank. In order to do so, we analyze how trust in an offline bank influences four perceptions about its online banking counterpart (flow, structural assurance, perceived Web site satisfaction, and perceived extent of future use). The study tests the hypothesized influence of offline trust using a sample of 199 South Korean consumers responding about offline and online banking. Results show that offline trust influences all four online perceptions, just as proposed. These effects were especially prominent among respondents new to online banking. Thus, offline-to-online transfer should be considered when designing strategies for online channels. This study fills a key research gap by examining transfer of cognitive beliefs from an offline to an online setting.  相似文献

This study provides insights into the potential impact of country culture on consumers’ perceptions toward usage of new innovative technological services. Focusing on mobile banking (m-banking), this work compares responses from three distinct consumer segments, including– 1) consumers living in Egypt, 2) consumers from Egypt who are living in the U.S. and 3) U.S. consumers. The study utilizes constructs from the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) including, perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, along with perceived risk, trust and social influence to examine the differences between these three distinct consumer segments’ usage intentions toward mobile banking. The hypothesized model was tested using structural equation modeling (SEM). Results indicate that country culture (both primary and secondary) can, to some degree, influence consumers’ perceptions and intentions toward mobile banking. Implications and future research suggestions are provided.  相似文献

Employing the definition of “adopter types” as the continuum of adoption rate, this study attempts to examine the factors influencing young people’s mobile TV adoption behaviors ranging from non- and discontinuous to actual adoption. Demographic and innovative attributes were found to have a non-significant influence on the adoption likelihood. The findings also revealed that information needs and newspaper reading were negatively associated with mobile TV adoption, while entertainment needs were found to be a significant positive predictor of the adoption likelihood. The results imply that young adults tend to adopt and use mobile TV for entertainment purpose, rather than for informational purpose. Additionally, the results showed that perceived value predicted the adoption. On the other hand, perceived price as an available resource did not have an impact on the adoption. Inconsistent with the prior findings of people’s mobile TV adoption and use as both positive information and entertainment sources, the findings suggest that young adults are likely to adopt and use mobile TV for entertainment and portability. When considering the capabilities of the technology, the findings imply young adults’ perceptual and behavioral tendency toward the different use of the technology in the convergent media environment in which they have grown up.  相似文献

The main purpose of this study is to propose practical and effective strategies for acquiring and building initial trust from online consumers that could be used by the Internet store selling fashion goods online. To achieve this purpose, this paper suggests a trust life cycle model, identifies various trusting cues by reviewing antecedent literature on trust, establishes an empirical research model based on the eleven cues identified, and tries to find the most salient trusting cues affecting the development of initial trust by empirically testing the model. The results show that the factors significant in developing initial trust in an Internet fashion store are perceived service reliability, perceived variety of options, perceived ease of use, and legal infrastructure.  相似文献

Electronic commerce (e-commerce) continues to have a profound impact on the global business environment, but technologies and applications also have begun to focus more on mobile computing, the wireless Web, and mobile commerce. Against this backdrop, mobile banking (m-banking) has emerged as an important distribution channel, with considerable research devoted to its adoption. However, this research stream has lacked a clear roadmap or agenda. Therefore, the present article analyzes and synthesizes existing studies of m-banking adoption and maps the major theories that researchers have used to predict consumer intentions to adopt it. The findings indicate that the m-banking adoption literature is fragmented, though it commonly relies on the technology acceptance model and its modifications, revealing that compatibility (with lifestyle and device), perceived usefulness, and attitude are the most significant drivers of intentions to adopt m-banking services in developed and developing countries. Moreover, the extant literature appears limited by its narrow focus on SMS banking in developing countries; virtually no studies address the use of m-banking applications via smartphones or tablets or consider the consequences of such usage. This study makes several recommendations for continued research in the area of mobile banking.  相似文献

This paper examines the behavioral and psychological factors influencing the adoption and use of mobile phone in rural China. Based on the diffusion of innovations and perceived needs theory, this research, through a case study of Hubei, China, supports the theoretical model that both behavioral and psychological factors can predict Chinese rural residents’ adoption and use of mobile phone. Psychological factors, however, play a weaker role in rural residents’ adoption and use of mobile phone than do behavioral factors. Moreover, behavioral factors can significantly predict some of the psychological factors. By adding behavioral factors into the theoretical model, this study supplements the perceived needs theory and extends it from urban setting to rural setting. Implications of the findings have been discussed.  相似文献

This study examines what factors lead to the adoption of the mobile e-book in South Korea. For this purpose, this research integrated the diffusion of innovation theory and technology acceptance model with the model of innovation resistance and applied this integrated model to the context of mobile e-book adoption. An online survey was administrated, and the data collected were analyzed with the structural equation model (SEM). Research results showed that individual innovativeness has a significant influence on perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. It also revealed that both of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use affect not only intention to use but also the innovation resistance. The innovation resistance has significant negative influence on the intention to use. Perceived risk of mobile e-books increases innovation resistance in a positive way. The implications of these results are discussed.  相似文献

Chatbot development and adoption is a growing challenge in emerging markets, which are characterised by a young population structure, low-level internet penetration and a high degree of institutional adversity. The purpose of this study is to explore how consumers in emerging markets interact and engage with banking chatbots when conducting bank transactions. Based on qualitative research using semi-structured interviews with 36 Nigerian residents, this study demonstrates that the four factors of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) can explain how emerging-market consumers interact and engage with banking chatbots. While age and technological experience are significant components in facilitating the use of chatbots, perceived expertise, responsiveness and security were found to be particularly important to users. This study delves into user experiences with conversational interfaces, specifically focusing on emerging markets.  相似文献
