An understanding of screening requires a knowledge of screening kinetics. The new model of screening kinetics presented in this paper is theoretically described and experimentally proven. Samples of different raw materials, different in their density, bulk density, particle size distribution and particle shape, were used.The conducted experiments confirmed that the new model of screening kinetics successfully describes the process of screening of various raw materials even when they are exposed to a range of factors that most influence the screening process (dimensions of the screen, particle size distribution of raw materials, particle shape, and thickness of the bed on the screen).The advantage of this model of screening kinetics lies in its simplicity as it is characterized by the fact that it has only one parameter, i.e., (k) - the screening rate constant, which is experimentally measured. This constant can be measured on the basis of a single screening experiment. This fact is very significant for practical applications of the model to an industrial screen. 相似文献

A new theory of particle discharge in high tension roll (HTR) separation is presented. The discharge dynamics of an isolated charged particle resting on a conducting surface are studied first. The analysis is extended to particle discharge in a homogenous particle bed. Finally, the paper looks at the more realistic scenario of particle discharge in a non-homogenous particle bed. The consequences of the resulting theory on HTR separation are discussed.Predictions from the new theory are tested against experimental HTR separations at the pilot scale. 相似文献

The aggregate industry in Sweden is investigating methods to improve the quality of manufactured sand (aggregate smaller than 2 mm produced by crushing rock) for concrete production. A common way to improve the shape of the particles is to use a vertical shaft impact (VSI) crusher. However, the crushing process creates a large amount of fines (particles smaller than 63 μm) that are not desirable in concrete mixes. The aggregate industry in Sweden is therefore investigating methods to reduce the amount of fines produced by the manufacturing of sand. One method being investigated is air classification.A centrifugal air classifier used in the aggregate industry was investigated using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to improve the understanding of the influence of the geometric design of the classifier on the cut size and the resulting particle size distribution. Simulations were performed with a CFD model using an Euler–Lagrange approach. The simulation results show that the classification results are affected by air flow velocity, particle shape, particle size, the geometry of the air classifier and turbulence in the air flow. 相似文献
