The objectives of this work were to develop a comprehensive visual dataset around one CIE blue color center, NCSU‐B1, and to use the new dataset to test the performance of the major color difference formulae in this region of color space based on various statistical methods. The dataset comprised of 66 dyed polyester fabrics with small color differences ($\Delta E_{{\rm ab}}^* < 5$ ) around a CIE blue color center. The visual difference between each sample and the color center was assessed by 26 observers in three separate sittings using a modified AATCC gray scale and a total of 5148 assessments were obtained. The performance of CIELAB, CIE94, CMC(l:c), BFD(l:c), and CIEDE2000 (KL:KC:KH) color difference formulae based on the blue dataset was evaluated at various KL (or l) values using PF/3, conventional correlation coefficient (r), Spearman rank correlation coefficient (ρ) and the STRESS function. The optimum range for KL (or l) was found to be 1–1.3 based on PF/3, 1.4–1.7 based on r, and 1–1.4 based on STRESS, and in these ranges the performances of CIEDE2000, CMC, BFD and CIE94 were not statistically different at the 95% confidence level. At KL (or l) = 1, the performance of CIEDE2000 was statistically improved compared to CMC, CIE94 and CIELAB. Also, for NCSU‐B1, the difference in the performance of CMC (2:1) from the performance of CMC (1:1) was statistically insignificant at 95% confidence. With the development of our modern information society, digital products have become integrated into daily life. Research on the color ergonomics of user interfaces is a pressing issue. However, color‐vision‐deficient individuals (CVDIs), who account for 4.25% of the population, must use interfaces designed for individuals with normal color vision; the demands of CVDIs have not been sufficiently addressed. In this article, we investigate color associations in the color ergonomics of user interface interaction in a manner that aims both to improve interaction efficiency and to meet the psychological needs of CVDIs. First, we study color physiological cognitions in the color interactions of user interfaces for red‐green dichromats (RGDs) to determine the single‐color, two‐color, and three‐color combinations with high discrimination for a later experiment. Second, we explore the psychological–cognition relationships of colors in user‐interface interactions for RGDs. In an experiment involving 10 pairs of association semantemes and corresponding colors, the experimental results show that RGDs have different color cognitions caused by specific visual color expressions and unconscious environmental influences. Therefore, this article argues that RGD design should consider not only the habitual colors of solidified cognitions but also instinctive color associations. Finally, based on the results of previous experiments, we apply association color to the new interface design of computer security software (360 Total Security) for RGDs. Experimental results indicate that the application of color association in our new design can improve both interaction efficiency and CVDI user experience. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Stable pure‐blue electroluminescence (EL) is obtained from polymer light‐emitting devices by dispersing poly(9,9‐dioctylfluorene) (PFO) into a wide band‐gap mixed‐matrix of poly(9‐vinylcarbazole) (PVK):2‐(4‐biphenylyl)‐5‐(4‐tert‐butylphenyl)‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole (PBD). From the EL spectra of the PFO‐doped films, we find that the additional green emission observed in the EL spectra of the pure PFO devices was significantly suppressed in the PFO‐doped devices. The spectral stability was also improved through evaluating the EL spectra of the PFO‐doped films annealed at different temperatures (from 80 to 150 °C). These results demonstrate that doping of PFO into a matrix to weaken the aggregate and oxidation of the PFO molecules is a simple strategy to suppress the green emission. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The activation of elemental sulfur (S8) has been achieved by means of electrogenerated cyanomethyl anion [easily obtained by galvanostatic reduction from acetonitrile/tetraethylammonium hexafluorophosphate (MeCN‐Et4NPF6)]. The “activated” sulfur reacted with ylidenemalononitriles to give substituted 2‐aminothiophenes in very high yields. This variation of the Gewald reaction has been carried out using only catalytic amounts of electricity and supporting electrolyte. A proposed mechanism for the interaction between S8 and cyanomethyl anion is described.  相似文献

Account information for over 1 million Twitter users was downloaded and analyzed to determine color preference. Blues were found to be the most preferred color, whereas greens were least preferred. Distinct gender‐specific differences were found. Males preferred blues to a greater extent than females, whereas females preferred magentas to a much greater extent than males. Males preferred darker colors to a greater extent than women. Density plots within hue, saturation, and brightness space summarize the distribution of color choices and illustrate color preferences for both males and females. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Some of the renewed interest in transition metal diborides (MB2, = Ti/Zr/Hf) arises from their potential use as matrices in ultrahigh‐temperature ceramic matrix composites (UHTCMCs). Crucial to the understanding of such composites is the study of the fiber/matrix interfaces, which in turn requires a deep knowledge of the surface structures and the thermodynamics of the matrix material. Here we investigate the surface stability of MB2 compounds by first‐principles calculations. Five surfaces are stabilized when going from a M‐rich to a B‐rich environment, respectively (0001)M, (100)M, (101)B(M), (113)M and (0001)B, with the highly stable (100)M, (101)B(M) and (113)M surfaces being discussed here for the first time. The mechanism behind the surface stability is analyzed in terms of cleavage energy, surface strain and surface bonding states. Our results provide important information for a better understanding of the most likely surfaces exposed to the fibers in UHTCMCs, thereby for the construction of reliable interfaces and ultimately UHTCMCs models.  相似文献

Unfilled and MWCNT‐filled PA fibers are prepared and the effect of the extensional flow on their mechanical performance and morphological variations is investigated. Morphological analyses using SEM, TEM, and SAXS suggest a stronger orientation of the MWCNTs along the fiber direction with increasing extensional flow. A particular MWCNT bundle formation in the PA drawn nanocomposite fibers is observed for the first time, and a pull‐out of the central nanotube in some bundles is noted. The maintenance of the “shish‐kebab” structure upon extensional flow is responsible for the mechanical improvements and dimensional stability in MWCNT‐filled PA fibers.

Transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) occurs at high levels at damage sites of vascular endothelial cell layers and regulates the functions of vascular endothelial cells. Reactive sulfur species (RSS), such as cysteine persulfide, glutathione persulfide, and hydrogen persulfide, are cytoprotective factors against electrophiles such as reactive oxygen species and heavy metals. Previously, we reported that sodium trisulfide, a sulfane sulfur donor, promotes vascular endothelial cell proliferation. The objective of the present study was to clarify the regulation and significance of RSS synthesis in vascular endothelial cells after exposure to TGF-β1. Bovine aortic endothelial cells in a culture system were treated with TGF-β1 to assess the expression of intracellular RSS, the effect of RSS on cell proliferation in the presence of TGF-β1, induction of RSS-producing enzymes by TGF-β1, and intracellular signal pathways that mediate this induction. The results suggest that TGF-β1 increased intracellular RSS levels to modulate its inhibitory effect on proliferation. The increased production of RSS, probably high-molecular-mass RSS, was due to the induction of cystathionine γ-lyase and cystathionine β-synthase, which are RSS-producing enzymes, and the induction was mediated by the ALK5-Smad2/3/4 and ALK5-Smad2/3-ATF4 pathways in vascular endothelial cells. TGF-β1 regulates vascular endothelial cell functions such as proliferation and fibrinolytic activity; intracellular high-molecular-mass RSS, which are increased by TGF-β1, may modulate the regulation activity in vascular endothelial cells.  相似文献
