A new device for measuring the linear burning rate of liquid propellants at high pressures is reported. High‐pressure environments were generated by the combustion of solid propellants. The coated propellants, which burn progressively, were introduced to maintain the approximate constant‐pressure environments. By use of ion probe transducers, measurements were made of the spread velocity of the flame surface, i.e. the apparent linear burning rate of the HAN‐based liquid propellant LP1846 (HAN =hydroxylammonium nitrate) was measured quantitatively at pressures from 6 to 28 MPa. The results show that it follows the exponential burning rate law. The burning rate coefficient and exponent were fitted by least‐squares methods. Based on the experiment, a simplified model of the linear burning rate of HAN‐based liquid propellants at high pressures was developed. The numerical simulation is found to be in good agreement with the experimental data.  相似文献

Rigid polyurethane foam (PUF) filled with mixture of alumina trihydrate (ATH) and triphenyl phosphate (TPP) as fire retardant additive was prepared with water as a blowing agent. In this study, the ATH content was varied from 10 to 100 parts per hundred polyol by weight (php), and TPP was used at a higher loading of ATH (75 and 100 php) in a ratio of 1 : 5 to enhance the processing during PUF preparation. The effects of ATH on properties such as density, compressive strength, morphological, thermal conductivity, thermal stability, flame‐retardant (FR) behavior, and smoke characteristics were studied. The density and compressive strength of the ATH‐filled PUF decreased initially and then increased with further increase in ATH content. There was no significant change in the thermal stability with increasing ATH loading. We determined the FR properties of these foam samples by measuring the limiting oxygen index (LOI), smoke density, rate of burning, and char yield. The addition of ATH with TPP to PUF significantly decreased the flame‐spread rate and increased LOI. The addition of TPP resulted in easy processing and also improved FR characteristics of the foam. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2010  相似文献

The burning rate pressure relationship is one of the important criteria in the selection of the propellant for particular applications. The pressure exponent (η) plays a significant role in the internal ballistics of rocket motors. Nitramines are known to produce lower burning rates and higher pressure exponent (η) values. Studies on the burning rate and combustion behavior of advanced high‐energy NG/PE‐PCP/AP/Al‐ and NG/PE‐PCP/HMX/AP/Al‐based solid rocket propellants processed by a conventional slurry cast route were carried out. The objective of present study was to understand the effectiveness of various ballistic modifiers viz. iron oxide, copper chromite, lead/copper oxides, and lead salts in combination with carbon black as a catalyst on the burning rate and pressure exponent of these high‐energy propellants. A 7–9 % increase in the burning rates and almost no effect in pressure exponent values of propellant compositions without nitramine were observed. However, in case of nitramine‐based propellants as compared to propellant compositions without nitramines, slight increases of the burning rates were observed. By incorporation of ballistic modifiers, the pressure exponents can be lowered. The changes in the calorimetric values of the formulations by addition of the catalysts were also studied.  相似文献

Mechanically‐activated nanocomposites (MANCs) of nano‐aluminum (nAl)/X (X=Cu, Ni, Zn, Mg, and graphite) were used as replacements for reference nAl powder and as catalytic ingredients in polyurethane (PU) propellants. The effects of their use on combustion heat, burning rate, and thermal decomposition were investigated. It was found that MANCs have catalytic effects and the modified propellants have enhanced the released heat, burning rate, and thermal decomposition properties. MANCs‐based propellants have improved the processing and the mechanical properties with acceptable safety aspects. They can be used for catalytic applications in solid propellants to improve their energetic, burning rate, and thermal decomposition characteristics.  相似文献

In a systematic study to compare the effects of the values of burning rate and pressure exponent in RDX‐AP based composite propellant, various compositions with varying percentages of zirconium carbide (ZrC) and zirconium silicate (ZrSiO4) were formulated to select a suitable candidate. Various rocket parameters of each formulation were theoretically predicted by the NASA CEC‐71 program and the burning rate was evaluated in pressure range of 3–11 MPa. In addition, density, sensitivity, and thermal properties of compositions having maximum effects on pressure exponent’s values were also evaluated. It was concluded that ZrSiO4 enhances the pressure exponent “n” value substantially, whereas ZrC doesn’t have significant effects on it as compared to base composition and also provides higher density values of composite propellant formulated.  相似文献

Nitramines are known to produce lower burning rates and higher pressure exponent (η) values. Studies on the burning rate and combustion behavior of advanced high‐energy NG/PE‐PCP/HMX/AP/Al based solid propellant processed by slurry cast route were carried out using varying percentages of HMX and AP. It was observed that propellant compositions containing only AP and Al loaded (total solids 75 %) in NG plasticized PE‐PCP binder produce comparatively lower pressure exponent (η) values similar to AP‐Al filled HTPB based composite propellants. However, energetic propellants containing high level of nitramine (40–60 %) produce high pressure exponent (0.8–0.9) values in the same pressure range. Incorporation of fine particle size AP (ca. 6 μm) and change in its concentration in the propellant composition reduces η value marginally and influences the burning rate. However, such compositions have higher friction sensitivity.  相似文献

The effect of N‐methyl‐2‐(3‐nitrophenyl)pyrrolidino[3′,4′:1,2]fullerene (mNPF) on the decomposition characteristics of hexogen (RDX) was investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The results show that mNPF can accelerate the decomposition of RDX, the peak temperature (Tp) of the exothermal decomposition is reduced by 6.4 K, and the corresponding apparent activation energy (Ea) is decreased by 8.7 kJ mol−1. N‐methyl‐2‐(3‐nitrophenyl)pyrrolidino[3′,4′:1,2]fullerene (mNPF), carbon black (CB), and C60 were used as combustion catalysts to improve the combustion performance of a composite modified double‐base propellant containing RDX (RDX‐CMDB). The burning rate experimental results show that mNPF has a stronger catalytic effect than C60 and CB. The magnitude of the effect of the three carbon substances on the enhancement of the burning rate is as follows: mNPF>C60>CB. The catalytic effects of different contents of mNPF on the burning rates of RDX‐CMDB propellants were also studied, and the results show that the burning rates of RDX‐CMDB propellants are improved with increasing mNPF content. The plateau burning rate of a RDX‐CMDB propellant can be increased to 19.6 mm s−1 when 1.0 % mNPF is added, and the corresponding plateau combustion region occurs at 8–22 MPa.  相似文献

New peptidomimetic furin inhibitors with unnatural amino acid residues in the P3 position were synthesized. The most potent compound 4‐guanidinomethyl‐phenylacteyl‐Arg‐Tle‐Arg‐4‐amidinobenzylamide (MI‐1148) inhibits furin with a Ki value of 5.5 pM . The derivatives also strongly inhibit PC1/3, whereas PC2 is less affected. Selected inhibitors were tested in cell culture for antibacterial and antiviral activity against infectious agents known to be dependent on furin activity. A significant protective effect against anthrax and diphtheria toxin was observed in the presence of the furin inhibitors. Furthermore, the spread of the highly pathogenic H5N1 and H7N1 avian influenza viruses and propagation of canine distemper virus was strongly inhibited. Inhibitor MI‐1148 was crystallized in complex with human furin. Its N‐terminal guanidinomethyl group in the para position of the P5 phenyl ring occupies the same position as that found previously for a structurally related inhibitor containing this substitution in the meta position, thereby maintaining all of the important P5 interactions. Our results confirm that the inhibition of furin is a promising strategy for a short‐term treatment of acute infectious diseases.  相似文献

The nitrogen‐rich energetic compound 5‐amino‐3,4‐dinitropyrazole (5‐ADP) was investigated using complementary experimental techniques. X‐ray diffraction indicates the strong intermolecular hydrogen bonding in 5‐ADP crystals. Compound exhibits low impact sensitivity (23 J) and insensitivity to friction. The activation energy of thermolysis determined to be 230±5 kJ mol−1 from DSC measurements. Accelerating rate calorimetry indicates the lower thermal stability (173 °C) of 5‐ADP than that of RDX, which is probably the main concern about using this compound. 5‐ADP also exhibits good compatibility with common energetic materials (viz. TNT, RDX, ammonium perchlorate), including an active binder. The burning rate of 5‐ADP monopropellant is higher than that of benchmark HMX, while the pressure exponent 0.51±0.04 is surprisingly low. Addition of ammonium perchlorate does not affect the pressure exponent of 5‐ADP, while the burning rate increases. The 5‐amino‐3,4‐dinitropyrazole exhibits a notable combination of combustion performance, low sensitivity, and good compatibility, which renders it as a promising energetic material.  相似文献

A combination of partial least squares (PLS) regression and design of experiments was used to analyse and define the short‐ and long‐term loss mechanisms of carvacrol from polymer/clay nanocomposite films used as an antimicrobial food packaging material. Three formulation x variables were evaluated: type of nanoclay, concentration of nanoclay and concentration of compatibilizer agent. Five experimental y responses were measured: loss of carvacrol from the films stored at room conditions on the third and fifth days (short‐term loss); on the forty‐fifth and sixtieth days (long‐term loss); and the polymer/clay level of intercalation. All variables and responses were simultaneously calibrated by an ANOVA‐validated (P < 0.05) comprehensive PLS interaction model with a satisfactory R2 = 0.956 and Q2 = 0.505. A differentiation and discrimination of the mechanisms that control the loss of carvacrol over different periods of time was observed. Short‐term loss seems to be controlled mainly by direct molecular interactions in the interlayer space between carvacrol and the nanoclay organomodifier. Long‐term loss seems to be mainly controlled by diffusion within the nanocomposite matrix once carvacrol has left the nanoclay interlayer space, and it is closely related to the levels of intercalation reached in the nanocomposite. © 2016 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Wood/plastic composites (WPCs) can absorb moisture in a humid environment due to the hydrophilic nature of the wood in the composites, making products susceptible to microbial growth and loss of mechanical properties. Co‐extruding a poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC)‐rich cap layer on a WPC significantly reduces the moisture uptake rate, increases the flexural strength but, most importantly, decreases the flexural modulus compared to uncapped WPCs. A two‐level factorial design was used to develop regression models evaluating the statistical effects of material compositions and a processing condition on the flexural properties of co‐extruded rigid PVC/wood flour composites with the ultimate goal of producing co‐extruded composites with better flexural properties than uncapped WPCs. Material composition variables included wood flour content in the core layer and carbon nanotube (CNT) content in the cap layer of the co‐extruded composites, with the processing temperature profile for the core layer as the only processing condition variable. Fusion tests were carried out to understand the effects of the material compositions and processing condition on the flexural properties. Regression models indicated all main effects and two powerful interaction effects (processing temperature/wood flour content and wood flour content/CNT content interactions) as statistically significant. Factors leading to a fast fusion of the PVC/wood flour composites in the core layer, i.e. low wood flour content and high processing temperature, were effective material composition and processing condition parameters for improving the flexural properties of co‐extruded composites. Reinforcing the cap layer with CNTs also produced a significant improvement in the flexural properties of the co‐extruded composites, insensitive to the core layer composition and the processing temperature condition. Thermal decomposition of melted 3,4‐bis(3‐nitrofurazan‐4‐yl)furoxan (DNTF) in isothermal conditions was studied. The burning rates of DNTF were measured in the pressure interval of 0.1–15 MPa. The thermal stability of DNTF was found to be close to the stability of HMX, while the burning rate of DNTF was close to the burning rate of CL‐20. The thermocouple measurements in the combustion wave of DNTF showed that combustion of DNTF was controlled by the gas‐phase mechanism. The DNTF vapor pressure was determined from thermocouple measurements and agreed well with data obtained at low temperatures under isothermal conditions.  相似文献

In this study, flame‐retarding property of PU foam was realized by compounding with flame‐retarding nonwovens in order to stop flame burning and spread. Followed with global warming, thermal‐insulating materials are also used inside of building for energy conservation. This article presents preparation technique and property evaluation of PU composite board composed of composite nonwovens and PU foam by integrating foaming process. By optimization of composite nonwoven, effects of foam density and nonwoven composition on flame‐retarding and thermal‐insulating properties were discussed. Puncture resistance property of composite board was also investigated for resisting against sharp‐object impacts. The resultant composite board would be applied as partition materials in future building decoration. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci. 2014 , 131, 40463.  相似文献

The effects of selected factors such as vapor‐grown carbon nanofiber (VGCNF) weight fraction, applied stress, and temperature on the viscoelastic responses (creep strain and creep compliance) of VGCNF/vinyl ester (VE) nanocomposites were studied using a central composite design (CCD). Nanocomposite test articles were fabricated by high‐shear mixing, casting, curing, and post curing in an open‐face mold under a nitrogen environment. Short‐term creep/creep recovery experiments were conducted at prescribed combinations of temperature (23.8–69.2°C), applied stress (30.2–49.8 MPa), and VGCNF weight fraction (0.00–1.00 parts of VGCNF per hundred parts of resin) determined from the CCD. Response surface models (RSMs) for predicting these viscoelastic responses were developed using the least squares method and an analysis of variance procedure. The response surface estimates indicate that increasing the VGCNF weight fraction marginally increases the creep resistance of the VGCNF/VE nanocomposite at low temperatures (i.e., 23.8–46.5°C). However, increasing the VGCNF weight fraction decreased the creep resistance of these nanocomposites for temperatures greater than 50°C. The latter response may be due to a decrease in the nanofiber‐to‐matrix adhesion as the temperature is increased. The RSMs for creep strain and creep compliance revealed the interactions between the VGCNF weight fraction, stress, and temperature on the creep behavior of thermoset polymer nanocomposites. The design of experiments approach is useful in revealing interactions between selected factors, and thus can facilitate the development of more physics‐based models. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Flame‐retardant properties of nylon 6/organically modified montmorillonite (OMMT) thin films, fibers, and fabrics were investigated to determine the efficacy of condensed‐phase flame‐retardant mechanism in relation to montmorillonite concentration, sample geometry, and flame test conditions. Horizontal flame spread conducted on thin films revealed no significant difference in burning behavior between nylon 6 and nanocomposites with 5 wt% OMMT. However, with a higher concentration level of 8–10 wt% OMMT, the films burned without any dripping. The flame spread rate was reduced by 30–40% as compared with nylon 6 films. Cone calorimeter study on nanocomposite films showed that the peak heat release rate of nylon 6 was reduced by 65–67% with 8–10 wt% OMMT. Undrawn nanocomposite monofilaments with 10 wt% OMMT burned slowly and steadily in Bunsen flame without dripping. In cone calorimeter, nanocomposite fabrics with 8 wt% OMMT showed reduced heat release rate and mass loss rate compared to nylon 6 fabrics with increase in fabric tightness factor. The mass loss rate was about 40–60% less when compared with nylon 6 fabrics. The fabric char structure remained intact after burning. This demonstrated the interdependence of fabric tightness factor, OMMT concentration, and source of heat flux in forming a protective char and affecting the flammability of fabrics. POLYM. ENG. Micro‐porous propellants containing titanium powder were obtained by supercritical CO2 (SC CO2) foaming technique. The morphologies of the micro‐porous propellants were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (EDS) measurement. The burning rate, the impetus, and the heat of explosion of the micro‐porous propellants were measured by the closed vessel test and the calorimetric bomb test. The results show that the porosity increased with increasing titanium powder content; compared with Benite, the burning rate was substantially improved, and the maximum values of the impetus and the isochoric heat of explosion increased by 51.4 % and 6.5 %, respectively. The Ti‐containing micro‐porous propellants with rapid burning rate and better energetic properties described in this paper may have the potential to replace Benite as igniter material in a flame igniter of a gun propellant charge.  相似文献

Different propellant compositions were prepared by incorporating nano‐sized cobalt oxide from 0.25 % to 1 % in HTPB/AP/Al‐based composite propellant formulations with 86 % solid loading. The effects on viscosity build‐up, thermal, mechanical and ballistic properties were studied. The findings revealed that by increasing the percentage of nano‐Co3O4 in the composition, the end of mix viscosity, the modulus and the tensile strength increased, whereas the elongation decreased accordingly. The thermal property data envisaged a reduction in the decomposition temperature of ammonium perchlorate (AP) as well as formulations based on AP. The ballistic property data revealed an enhanced burning rate from 6.11 mm s−1 (reference composition) to 8.99 mm s−1 at 6.86 MPa and a marginal increase in pressure exponent from 0.35 (reference composition) to 0.42 with 1 % nano‐cobalt oxide.  相似文献

In this study, the effects of ultrasound on the bioscouring of cotton by alkaline pectinase were examined. Conventional alkaline scouring was considered as the control treatment, and two different sources of ultrasound, an ultrasonic bath and an ultrasonic homogeniser, were tested, along with the enzymatic scouring process. Results indicated a clear increase in the efficiency of the enzymatic scouring process when the ultrasonic homogeniser was used: wettability time and wicking distance after ultrasonic homogeniser‐assisted bioscouring were much better than for enzymatic scouring without the use of ultrasound energy and almost the same as when conventional alkaline scouring was employed. Ultrasonic bath‐assisted enzymatic bioscouring gave slightly better results than enzymatic scouring without sonication. Reasons for the difference in efficacy of the ultrasound sources were postulated. Weight loss was increased by the use of ultrasonic equipment during enzymatic scouring. Fabric thickness and fabric strength was not significantly affected by the scouring processes. The environmental impact of the processes was also monitored by chemical oxygen demand measurement of the treatment liquors. Conventional alkaline scouring resulted in the highest environmental impact. Ultrasonic homogeniser‐assisted bioscouring also led to slightly higher chemical oxygen demand loads than other enzymatic processes owing to the more efficient removal of impurities.  相似文献

An uniformly distributed film consisting of polyaniline (PANI) nanoparticles and carboxylic acid functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs‐COOH) was successfully assembled on ITO plates from a layer‐by‐layer (LBL) method by using electrostatic interactions as the main driving force. The good conjugation between PANI nanoparticles and MWNTs‐COOH resulted in significant electrochemical performance variation of the obtained films. In addition, the assembled MWNT‐COOH/PANI/ITO showed synergistic effect to the electrochemical oxidation of nifedipine (NIF) when used as a sensor. Compared with bare ITO, the oxidation potential of NIF can be decreased about 170 mV on MWNT‐COOH/PANI/ITO, and the lower detection limit of NIF was as low as 1.0 × 10?6 mol/L. In addition, the assembled electrode gave no responses to interferences such as glucose, urea, ascorbic acid, and trisodium citrate, which showed high selectivity for recognition and quantification of NIF. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
