Case study of HTS resistive superconducting fault current limiter in electrical distribution systems

As electric power systems grow and become more interconnected, the fault current levels increase. Superconducting fault current limiters (SFCL) can limit the prospective short-circuit currents to lower levels, so that the underrated switchgears can be operated safely. In order to introduce SFCL into the electric power system, we need a way to conveniently predict the limiting characteristics in a given situation. We have developed an Electromagnetic Transient Program (EMTP) model of high temperature resistive type SFCL based on the electric field (E)–current density (J) characteristic of the superconductor. The SFCL in series with a circuit breaker could be practically used in electrical distribution systems. Case studies of EMTP simulations show that the SFCL cannot only limit the fault current to an acceptable value, but also reduce voltage decrease and the rise rate of the transient recovery voltage. In order to ensure the safe and proper usage of SFCL, some future considerations on the interaction between SFCL and power systems are presented as well. 相似文献

The quality of electric power caused by frequency fluctuation and voltage rise will be degraded because of the lightning surge and the mass introduction of distributed power. Thus, it is necessary to improve the performance of gas circuit breaker in order to maintain the stable supply of electric power. It has been reported that the arc conductance is calculated as the index of the current interruption in numerical analysis. However, few report have the measured value in the current interruption. This is because that the current interruption is the steep phenomenon of micro seconds range. Thus, it is necessary to establish the time-high precision and noncontact measurement method. In this paper, the arc temperature is measured near current zero using the microsecond spectroscopic measurement. As a result, the microsecond spectroscopic measurement which combines the conventional spectroscope and the high speed video camera is 200 times faster than the measurement of conventional spectroscope. For this reason, the microsecond spectroscopic measurement is possible with the high speed video camera. Therefore, it is possible to measure the arc temperature with decreasing the current using the microsecond spectroscope. 相似文献

以变电站中母线、隔离开关和断路器区域接线为例,建立组合线状电极工频电场强度数学模型,基于模拟电荷-矩量法对距离地面1.5m高处平面内的工频电场强度进行仿真计算,通过与实际测量值比较,证明该方法是区域电场强度定量计算的一种简便方法,并得出以下结论:地面附近的电场强度主要由竖直方向分量决定,在隔离开关和断路器下方电场强度较强,母线下方电场强度相对较弱;组合线状电极几何位置发生改变,电场强度也会发生不同的变化。为此,提出安装设计建议:考虑电气设备之间的电气强度,适当增加架设高度,适当减小隔离开关与母线间距离。 相似文献

介绍了高压断路器触头电寿命仿真的意义,研究了各种短路故障对断路器电寿命的影响。采用先进的仿真软件工具MATLAB中的电力系统仿真工具箱,建立各元件的数学模型,最后组成仿真模块,对复杂电力系统断路器运行进行动态仿真。仿真结果表明,不同的短路故障形式和不同的短路故障部位对触头寿命影响很大,本研究对电力系统高压断路器的运行有积极意义。 相似文献
