PSCAD/EMTDC仿真结果验证了所提方案的正确性。

With the growing integration of distributed generation, distribution networks have evolved toward the concept of microgrids. Microgrids can be operated in either the grid-connected mode to achieve peak shaving and power loss reduction or the islanded mode to increase the reliability and continuity of supply. These two modes of operation cause a challenge in microgrid protection, because the magnitude of fault current decreases significantly during the transition of a microgrid from the grid-connected mode to the islanded mode. This paper proposes a protection scheme for the microgrid based on superimposed reactive energy. The proposed scheme uses the Hilbert transform to calculate the superimposed reactive energy (SRE). The sequence components of superimposed current are adopted to detect fault incidents in the microgrid. The faulty phase and section are recognised by using the directional characteristics of SRE along with a threshold value. Moreover, a relay structure, which enables the proposed protection scheme, is designed. The significant feature of the proposed protection scheme is that it has the ability to protect the looped and radial microgrids against solid and high-impedance faults. To verify the efficacy of the proposed approach, extensive simulations have been carried out using the MATLAB/SIMULINK software package. The results show that the proposed scheme successfully identifies and isolates various types of fault in a microgrid and performs well with different fault resistances and fault locations.

This paper discusses the control and protection of a microgrid that is connected to utility through back-to-back converters. The back-to-back converter connection facilitates bidirectional power flow between the utility and the microgrid. These converters can operate in two different modes-one in which a fixed amount of power is drawn from the utility and the other in which the microgrid power shortfall is supplied by the utility. In the case of a fault in the utility or microgrid side, the protection system should act not only to clear the fault but also to block the back-to-back converters such that its dc bus voltage does not fall during fault. Furthermore, a converter internal mechanism prevents it from supplying high current during a fault and this complicates the operation of a protection system. To overcome this, an admittance based relay scheme is proposed, which has an inverse time characteristic based on measured admittance of the line. The proposed protection and control schemes are able to ensure reliable operation of the microgrid.

The fault characteristics of microgrids are affected by the penetration of inverter-interfaced distributed generators (IIDGs). It makes conventional protection schemes no longer applicable. With different grid codes in different countries, IIDGs need to adopt different positive-sequence low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) control strategies during LVRT. Therefore, conventional protection schemes have to be modified according to the specific microgrid structure and the IIDGs'' LVRT strategy. In order to adapt to different grid codes, a sequence component current-based fault control strategy and a coordinated microgrid fault detection method are proposed in this paper. The fault control strategy of IIDGs comprehensively considers the coordination between voltage support and fault characteristics generation, where the sequence currents are controlled separately. The positive-sequence current control strategy aims at supporting the microgrid voltage, whereas the negative-sequence current control strategy aims at generating or enhancing specific fault characteristics. Based on the proposed fault control strategy, the grid-feeding IIDGs can be equivalent to current sources and generate or enhance the negative-sequence fault characteristics in the equivalent additional networks of negative-sequence components. The fault feeder can then be accurately located by analyzing the phase relationship between the negative-sequence fault components of voltage and current phasors. A coordinated microgrid fault detection method based on the fault control strategy of IIDGs is proposed. The proposed fault control method makes the fault component protection principle applicable to all types of faults under any operational modes of microgrids. Finally, the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed coordinated fault control and protection strategy are verified in PSCAD/EMTDC.
