After the Internet has gained great popularity at homes and schools, there is much information on the Web. Today, one of the primary uses of the Internet is information retrieval from search engines. The main purpose of the current study is to develop and examine an individual attitude model towards search engines as a tool for retrieving information. This model integrates individual computer experience with perceptions. In addition, it also combines perception theories, such as technology acceptance model (TAM) and motivation, in order to understand individual attitudes toward search engines. The results show that individual computer experience, quality of search systems, motivation, and perceptions of technology acceptance are all key factors that affect individual feelings to use search engines as an information retrieval tool.  相似文献

The purpose of this research is to develop new approach to investigate individual attitudes toward search engines as a learning assisted tool. This research is based on Liaw and Huang’s research model that included motivation perspective, social cognitive theory, and technology acceptance model. After factor analysis and regression analysis, the results show that the factor of perceived satisfaction of system’s quality and the factor of experience using the Internet and search engines will influence the factor of perceived enjoyment and the factor of self-efficacy. In addition, perceived enjoyment and self-efficacy can predict of the factor of individual intention to use search engines as a learning assisted tool. Although search engines are essential tools for finding information on the World Wide Web, the effective use of search engines for information retrieval (IR) is a crucial challenge for any Internet user. Based on the user-focused approach, this study investigates individual information retrieval behaviors using information processing theory. The results show that experience with search engines significantly affects users’ attitudes toward search engines for information retrieval, the query-based service is more popular than the directory-based service, users are not completely satisfied with the precision of retrieved information and the response time of search engines, and users’ motivation is a key factor that predicts their intention to use search engines for information retrieval. Furthermore, this study proposes a conceptual model for investigating individual attitudes toward search engines for information retrieval.  相似文献

当今搜索引擎已经成为人们在网上搜索信息的重要工具。通用的搜索引擎虽然功能强大,但对具有很多子网站的企业门户网站进行搜索时响应速度慢,索引范围不全。Lucene是一个强大的全文索引引擎工具包,应用它可以快速地开发一个搜索引擎。文中描述了利用基于Java的全文检索工具包Lucene开发定制的中文搜索引擎方法,并且将该定制的搜索引擎与Google的站内搜索进行试验比较,发现在对具有很多子网站的企业门户网站进行搜索时有优于Google的性能。  相似文献

用户需要检索的信息往往分散存储在多个搜索多个搜索引擎各自的数据库里,对普通用户而言,访问多个搜索引擎并从返回的结果中分辨出确实有网页是一件费时费力的工作,集成搜索引擎则可以提供给用户一个同时记问多个搜索引擎人集成环境,集成搜索引擎能将其接收到的用户查询提交给底层的多个搜索引擎进行搜索,作为一种搜索工具,集成搜索引擎具有如WEB查询覆盖面比传统引擎更大,引警有更好的可扩展性等优点,讨论了解决集成搜索引擎的数据库选择问题的多种技术,针对用户提交的查询要求,通过数据库选择可以选定最有可能返回有用信息的底层搜索引擎。  相似文献

Abstract: Content analysis of search engine user queries is an important task, since successful exploitation of the content of queries can result in the design of efficient information retrieval algorithms for more efficient search engines. Identification of topic changes within a user search session is a key issue in content analysis of search engine user queries. This study proposes an artificial neural network application in the area of search engine research to automatically identify topic changes in a user session by using statistical characteristics of queries, such as time intervals and query reformulation patterns. Sample data logs from the FAST and Excite search engines are selected to train the neural network and then the neural network is used to identify topic changes in the data log. As a result, almost all the performance measures yielded favourable results.  相似文献
