This paper investigates the issue of adaptive reliable tracking control for a class of uncertain nonlinear parametric strict‐feedback systems under actuator faults. To guarantee better transient performance of adaptive systems especially when actuator faults occur, a novel prescribed performance bounds (PPBs) method based on exponent‐dependent barrier Lyapunov function is developed. Differing from the existing results where the control schemes have introduced the strictly monotone smooth function to achieve constrained error transformation, the proposed PPBs scheme is designed by using the time‐varying barriers to constrain the error trajectories, which accurately characterizes the convergence rates and convergence bounds of errors. Finally, under the framework of backstepping technique and Lyapunov stability theorem, an adaptive reliable controller is designed to ensure that all the closed‐loop signals are semiglobally uniformly ultimately bounded with the tracking errors converging to the specified PPBs. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

In this paper, we focus on the problem of adaptive stabilization for a class of uncertain switched nonlinear systems, whose non-switching part consists of feedback linearizable dynamics. The main result is that we propose adaptive controllers such that the considered switched systems with unknown parameters can be stabilized under arbitrary switching signals. First, we design the adaptive state feedback controller based on tuning the estimations of the bounds on switching parameters in the transformed system, instead of estimating the switching parameters directly. Next, by incorporating some augmented design parameters, the adaptive output feedback controller is designed. The proposed approach allows us to construct a common Lyapunov function and thus the closed-loop system can be stabilized without the restriction on dwell-time, which is needed in most of the existing results considering output feedback control. A numerical example and computer simulations are provided to validate the proposed controllers.

In this paper, the problem of adaptive fuzzy tracking control is investigated for switched nonlinear pure-feedback systems under arbitrary switching. By utilising mean value theorem, the considered pure-feedback systems are transformed into a class of switched nonlinear strict-feedback systems. Compared with the existing results, a priori knowledge of control directions is not required. On the other hand, differing from the existing literatures, the piecewise switched adaptive laws are designed to replace the common adaptive laws, which can reduce the conservativeness. Furthermore, the difficulties from how to deal with the unknown control directions and design common virtual control are overcome. Based on the backstepping technique and the common Lyapunov functions, an adaptive fuzzy control scheme is developed to guarantee that all the signals in the closed-loop system are semi-globally uniformly ultimately bounded with the tracking error converging to a neighbourhood of the origin. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed techniques.

This paper addresses the adaptive tracking control scheme for switched nonlinear systems with unknown control gain sign. The approach relaxes the hypothesis that the upper bound of function control gain is known constant and the bounds of external disturbance and approximation errors of neural networks are known. RBF neural networks (NNs) are used to approximate unknown functions and an H-infinity controller is introduced to enhance robustness. The adaptive updating laws and the admissible switching signals have been derived from switched multiple Lyapunov function method. It’s proved that the resulting closed loop system is asymptotically Lyapunov stable such that the output tracking error performance and H-infinity disturbance attenuation level are well obtained. Finally, a simulation example of Forced Duffing systems is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme and improve significantly the transient performance.

In this paper, an adaptive prescribed performance output-feedback control scheme is proposed for a class of switched nonlinear systems with input saturation. The MT-filters are employed to estimate the unmeasured states and the unknown functions are approximated by the radial basis function neural networks in controller design procedure. It is proved that all the signals in the closed-loop system are semi-globally uniformly ultimately bounded and the tracking error satisfies the prescribed performance. Finally, simulation results are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

This paper presents an adaptive neural tracking control scheme for strict-feedback stochastic nonlinear systems with guaranteed transient and steady-state performance under arbitrary switchings. First, by utilising the prescribed performance control, the prescribed tracking control performance can be ensured, while the requirement for the initial error is removed. Second, radial basis function neural networks approximation are used to handle unknown nonlinear functions and stochastic disturbances. At last, by using the common Lyapunov function method and the backstepping technique, a common adaptive neural controller is constructed. The designed controller overcomes the problem of the over-parameterisation, and further alleviates the computational burden. Under the proposed common adaptive controller, all the signals in the closed-loop system are 4-Moment (or 2 Moment) semi-globally uniformly ultimately bounded, and the prescribed tracking control performance are guaranteed under arbitrary switchings. Three examples are presented to further illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

This paper investigates the problem of fault-tolerant control (FTC) for a class of switched nonlinear systems. These systems are under arbitrary switchings and are subject to both lock-in-place and loss-of-effectiveness actuator faults. In the control design, fuzzy logic systems are used to identify the unknown switched nonlinear systems. Under the framework of the backstepping control design, FTC, fuzzy adaptive control and common Lyapunov function stability theory, an adaptive fuzzy control approach is developed. It is proved that the proposed control approach can guarantee that all the signals in the closed-loop switched system are semi-globally uniformly ultimately bounded (SGUUB) and the tracking error remains an adjustable neighbourhood of the origin. Two simulation examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

This paper investigates the tracking problem for a class of uncertain switched nonlinear delayed systems with nonstrict‐feedback form. To address this problem, by introducing a new common Lyapunov function (CLF), an adaptive neural network dynamic surface control is proposed. The state‐dependent switching rule is designed to orchestrate which subsystem is active at each time instance. In order to compensate unknown delay terms, an appropriate Lyapunov‐Krasovskii functional is considered in the constructing of the CLF. In addition, a novel switched neural network–based observer is constructed to estimate system states through the output signal. To maintain the tracking error performance within a predefined bound, a prescribed performance bound approach is employed. It is proved that by the proposed output‐feedback control, all the signals of the closed‐loop system are bounded under the switching law. Moreover, the transient and steady‐state tracking performance is guaranteed by the prescribed performance bound. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated by two numerical and practical examples.
