The objective of this study is to produce a system that would allow music symbols to be written by hand using a pen-based computer that would simulate the feeling of writing on sheets of paper and that would also accurately recognize the music symbols. To accomplish these objectives, the following methods are proposed: (1) Two features, time-series data and an image of a handwritten stroke, are used to recognize strokes; and (2) The strokes are combined, as efficiently as possible, and outputted automatically as a music symbol. As a result, recognition rates of 97.60 and 98.80% were obtained in tests with strokes and music symbols, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, a pattern classification and recognition approach to expert control systems is developed for use in the on-line analysis and design of dynamic systems. The approach used is based on the tuning of a three-term PID controller and, hence, it is not dependent on a specific form of the process model. A real-time experiment of implementing the developed controller using a microcomputer and associated hardware is presented. A sample set of production rules is discussed. The expert system reaches appropriate tuning parameters, using extracted features, such as oscillatory, underdamped, and exponentially monotonic properties.  相似文献

An expert system approach for die and mold making operations   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
In the modern manufacturing of sophisticated parts with 3D sculptured surfaces, die and mold making operations are the most widely used machining processes to remove unwanted material. To manufacture a die or a mold, many different cutting tools are involved, from deep hole drills to the smallest ball nose end mills. Since the specification of each tool is very different from each other, each mold or die is specific with their complicated shapes and many machining rules exist to consider, a great deal of expertise is needed in planning the machining operations. An expert system (DieEX) developed for this purpose is described in the present work. The geometry and the material of the workpiece, tool material, tool condition and operation type are considered as input values and various recommendations about the tool type, tool specifications, work holding method, type of milling operation, direction of feed and offset values are provided.  相似文献

This paper presents a dual classifier handprinted character recognition system that is implemented using Radial Basis Function (RBF) networks. Each classifier in the system extracts a different set of features from the input character and makes its own indpendent classification decision. The features used are the diagonal and partitioned radial projections, and the four-directional edge maps of the mage. The system then combines these decisions before giving a final classification output. Several different methods of desinging the combiner are examined. The proposed system is tested on a database of handprinted alphanumeric characters, and the results are fourd to be very promising.  相似文献

This article shows a pattern recognition method for object classification using ultrasonic sensors and a dual knowledge base fuzzy expert system. The developed system uses a pair of ultrasonic sensors for obtaining information about the object shape from the ultrasonic echo signal envelope. In order to reduce the size of the database, a set of parameters is calculated for extracting knowledge about the object. However, the information provided by ultrasonic sensors contains a very high uncertainty level. This uncertainty is caused by several environmental effects, which are very difficult to eliminate in industrial applications. Among these environment factors are the air temperature and humidity, the air movement, etc. They create variations in the proprieties of the medium and disturbances during the acoustic propagation process. The presented system has been specially designed for industrial applications, where it is very difficult to reduce these disturbances and where it is necessary to use intelligent systems with high autonomy. The fuzzy expert system proposed has a dual knowledge base, that is, a statistical knowledge located on the memberships functions, and the standard rule-based knowledge. This expert system deals with the uncertainties in the information, and it is able to generate and modify the knowledge base and the decision rules in an automatic way. Furthermore, it is able to adapt the knowledge base to the slow changes produced by disturbing factors, such as humidity and temperature. On the other hand, because this system maintains a rule-based structure it is very easy to incorporate expert human knowledge.  相似文献

In this paper, an hybrid system is proposed for setting machining parameters from experimental data. A symbolic regression alpha–beta is used to build mathematical models. Every model is validated using statistical analysis then evolutionary computation is used to minimize or maximize the generated model. Symbolic regression αβ is used to build mathematical models by estimation of distribution algorithms. A practical case considering measured data of two machining process on three materials are used to illustrate the utility of the expert system because generates a set of parameters that improve the machining process.  相似文献

Performance evaluation is receiving increasing interest in graphics recognition. In this paper, we discuss some questions regarding the definition of a general framework for evaluation of symbol recognition methods. The discussion is centered on three key elements in performance evaluation: test data, evaluation metrics and protocols of evaluation. As a result of this discussion we state some general principles to be taken into account for the definition of such a framework. Finally, we describe the application of this framework to the organization of the first contest on symbol recognition in GREC’03, along with the results obtained by the participants.  相似文献

Geometric feature recognition is a crucial task in the development of concurrent engineering software. This paper presents a new methodology for geometric feature recognition which combines the advantages of face-edge adjacency graphs and expert systems. The methodology uses several new concepts such as enhanced winged edge data structure (EWEDS) and multi-attributed adjacency graphs (MAAG). The object model is presented as a set of facts. The rules for the recognition of each feature are derived from the corresponding feature-MAAG. This simplifies the process of writing the rules while enabling the inclusion of new features into the rule base as they are encountered.  相似文献

We describe a system that learns from examples to recognize persons in images taken indoors. Images of full-body persons are represented by color-based and shape-based features. Recognition is carried out through combinations of Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifiers. Different types of multi-class strategies based on SVMs are explored and compared to k-Nearest Neighbors classifiers. The experimental results show high recognition rates and indicate the strength of SVM-based classifiers to improve both generalization and run-time performance. The system works in real-time.  相似文献
