Even though the research on supplier selection is abundant, the works usually only consider the critical success factors in the buyer–supplier relationship. However, the negative aspects of the buyer–supplier relationship must also be considered simultaneously. The main objective in this study is to propose an analytical approach to select suppliers under a fuzzy environment. A fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) model, which incorporates the benefits, opportunities, costs and risks (BOCR) concept, is constructed to evaluate various aspects of suppliers. Multiple factors that are positively or negatively affecting the success of the relationship are analyzed by taking into account experts’ opinion on their importance, and a performance ranking of the suppliers is obtained. TFT-LCD manufacturers in Taiwan, which is the largest TFT-LCD producer country in the world, are facing increasing competition nowadays, and the selection of the most appropriate suppliers for cooperation is essential for firms to achieve competitive advantage. A case study of backlight unit supplier selection for a TFT-LCD manufacturer is presented, and the proposed model is applied to facilitate the decision process. The model is a general form that can be tailored and applied by firms that are making decisions on supplier selection.  相似文献

The supplier–buyer coordination is an important policy in the supply chain management. The buyer in the two-echelon inventory system with regular selling season has to face the uncertainty of customer demand, supplier’s delivery time and variable price change. At the same time, the supplier has to consider the inventory holding and delay cost. The objective of this study is to develop an integrated supply chain strategy for products with short lifecycle and variable selling price to entice cooperation. The strategy must provide a win–win situation for both the supplier and the buyer. A numerical case example, sensitivity analysis and compensation mechanism are given to illustrate the model.  相似文献

With globalize market, fast-changing technology and shortening product life cycle, businesses are becoming extremely competitive, and a cooperative buyer–supplier relationship is essential for a manufacturer, especially in technology-related industry, to survive and to acquire reasonable profit. Even though the research on various types of collaborations between firms is abundant, the research that provides a mathematical model for the selection of the most appropriate relationship form is very limited. The main objective in this study is to base on an electronic components manufacturer in Taiwan to propose an analytical approach to evaluate the forms of buyer–supplier relationship between the manufacturer and its supplier. A model, which applies the analytic network process (ANP) and the benefits, opportunities, costs and risks (BOCR) concept, is constructed to consider various aspects of buyer–supplier relationships. Multiple factors that affect the success of the relationship are analyzed by incorporating experts’ opinions on their priority of importance, and a performance ranking of the buyer–supplier forms is obtained. The results shall provide guidance to select the most appropriate form of relationship between the manufacturer and its supplier. The proposed model is systematic, and it is easy to be understood and applied by the management. The model can be tailored and applied by firms in various industries that are making decisions on buyer–supplier relationship.  相似文献

This paper develops an approach to determine the optimal production and shipment policy for an integrated vendor–buyer problem. The vendor manufactures the product in batches at a finite rate and ships the output to the buyer. All shipments to the buyer are equal-sized batches. Despite previous papers in the literature, we assume that the supply lead-time between vendor and buyer is stochastic and shortage is also allowed. The objective is to minimize the expected total cost of both buyer and vendor. We derive the expected annual integrated total cost function and propose an analytic solution procedure to determine the optimal policy. To illustrate the significance of cost-reduction of the integrated approach in comparison with independent decisions by buyer or vendor, some numerical examples are also presented.  相似文献

Recent research pointed at the potential of buyer–supplier collaborations for joint innovation generation. However, studies reveal mixed results. Since multiple contingency factors influence the results of cooperation, this study analyses different relationship patterns as a context for joint innovation generation and problem solving. A comprehensive model of buyer–supplier relationships is conceptualized drawing on social psychology literature. Based on a sample of 250 small and medium‐sized enterprises (SMEs) from the German machinery construction sector, buyer–supplier relationships are empirically classified into four distinct types. These then are related to the innovation outcomes. The results indicate that a relational context fosters joint innovation generation and problem solving. Interestingly, a high degree of formalization, if it is legitimated, can also lead to innovation. Sporadic superficial interactions as well as interactions dominated by tension hinder joint innovation generation, though. The results help managers to consider the potential innovative outcomes when making decisions about supplier cooperation.  相似文献

This study aims at formulating an integrated supplier–buyer inventory model when market demand is variable price-sensitive trapezoidal and the supplier offers a choice between discount in unit price and permissible delay period for settling the accounts due against the purchases made. This type of trade credit is termed as ‘net credit’. In this policy, if the buyer pays within offered time M1, then the buyer is entitled for a cash discount; otherwise the full account must be settled by the time M2; where M2 > M1 ? 0. The goal is to determine the optimal selling price, procurement quantity, number of transfers from the supplier to the buyer and payment time to maximise the joint profit per unit time. An algorithm is worked out to obtain the optimal solution. A numerical example is given to validate the proposed model. The managerial insights based on sensitivity analysis are deduced.  相似文献

We studied a decentralised three-layer supply chain including a supplier, a producer and some retailers. All the retailers order their demands to the producer and the producer order his demands to the supplier. We assumed that the demand is price sensitive and shortage is not permitted. The goal of the paper is to optimise the total cost of the supply chain network by coordinating decision-making policy using Stackelberg–Nash equilibrium. The decision variables of our model are the supplier's price, the producer's price and the number of shipments received by the supplier and producer, respectively. Behavioral uncertainty of a supplier is a major challenge to a buyer operating in e-procurement setting. Modeling suppliers’ behavior from past transactions, estimation of possible future performance and integrating this knowledge with the winner determination process can bring a new dimension to procurement process automation. We propose a states-space model to capture the uncertainty involved in long-term supplier behavior. The states represent the performance level of a supplier. This behavioral aspect is then integrated with the winner determination process of a multi-attribute reverse auction for efficient supplier selection using parallel MDP. We also propose an implementation framework to collect the feedback on supplier, generate an aggregate performance score and integrate it with the winner determination process. The performance aggregation and winner determination with help of Markov decision process effectively uses the past performance information. In addition, it updates performance information in regular invervals and allevates the problem of maintaining a long history. We compare the MDP-based selection with that of performance score-based selection through a simulation experiment. It is observed that our scheme gives better buyer utility, selects best suppliers and fetches better quality product. The benefits realized through these attributes to the buyer increases the efficiency of the MDP-based selection process.  相似文献

This paper considers a two-echelon supply chain inventory problem consisting of a single-vendor and a single-buyer. In the system under study, a vendor produces a product in a batch production environment and supplies it to a buyer facing a stochastic demand, which is assumed to be normally distributed. Also, buyer’s lead time is controllable which can be shortened at an added cost and all shortages are backordered. A model has been formulated for an integrated vendor–buyer problem to jointly determine the optimal order quantity, lead time and the number of shipments from the vendor to the buyer during a production cycle while minimizing the total expected cost of the vendor–buyer integrated system. It is often difficult to estimate the shortage cost in inventory systems. Therefore, instead of having a shortage cost term in the objective function, a service level constraint (SLC) is included in the model that requires a certain proportion of demands to be met in each cycle. An efficient procedure has been suggested to find the bounds on number of shipments and then, an algorithm is developed to obtain the optimal solution of the proposed model. A numerical example is included to illustrate the algorithmic procedure and the effects of key parameters are studied to analyze the behavior of the model. Finally, the savings of buyer and vendor are investigated from implementation of joint optimization model over the model in which they minimize their own cost independently.  相似文献

Two related problems are integrated in this paper, the first is the targeting problem and another is production/inventory decisions in a supply chain. The supply chain under consideration consists of a supplier of raw material, a single producer, and multiple newsvendors. The producer can adjust the process mean before starting the production run. Once set to a certain target value, the process mean is not changed until the production lot is completed. At the end of a production run, the producer screens the lot and uses specification limits to evaluate the quality of the item. Nonconforming items are scrapped with no salvage value; however, conforming items are delivered to newsvendors who are subjected to random demand. If demand on a newsvendor in a season is lower than anticipated, surplus items will be returned to the producer at a certain transportation cost. We first develop a mathematical model that maximizes the expected total profit of the supply chain. Then, a table for two special functions is devised to simplify the solution method and is used to find the optimal solution of the proposed model. We also study the significance of this integration by comparing the performance of the proposed model with an independent model where the process mean selection and lot‐sizing decisions are found separately.  相似文献

In supply chain management process, the firm select best supplier takes the competitive advantage to other companies. Thus, supplier selection is an important issue and with the multiple criteria decision-making approach, the supplier selection problem includes both tangible and intangible factors. This paper is aimed to present an integrated fuzzy and linear programming approach to the problem. Firstly, linguistic values expressed in trapezoidal fuzzy numbers are applied to assess weights and ratings of supplier selection criteria. Then a hierarchy multiple model based on fuzzy set theory is expressed and fuzzy positive and negative ideal solutions are used to find each supplier’s closeness coefficient. Finally, a linear programming model based on the coefficients of suppliers, buyer’s budgeting, suppliers’ quality and capacity constraints is developed and order quantities assigned to each supplier according to the linear programming model. The integrated model is illustrated by an example in a textile firm.  相似文献

This paper studies the backup sourcing strategy of the buyer and the production planning of the supplier in presence of both random yield and random demand. Since the production is susceptible to the randomness of yield beyond the control of the supplier, the buyer may access to a backup sourcing option for the finished items. We analyse the value of backup sourcing for both the decentralised and centralised channels. Backup sourcing strategy of the buyer may lower the supply chain's performance. We show that the order quantity of the buyer does not change the stocking factor of the supplier's input. Meanwhile, compared with the centralised operation, the decentralised operation is more dependent on the backup sourcing to reduce supply shortage of the contracting supplier. From the channel's perspective, an incentive scheme is developed to facilitate the coordination of both the buyer and the contracting supplier, we show that the proposed option contract can allow the supply chain members to share the respective risks involved in the production and selling processes. Finally, we also provide qualitative insights based on numerical examples of the centralised and decentralised solutions.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop integrated inventory inspection models with and without replacement of nonconforming items. Inspection policies include no inspection, sampling inspection, and 100% inspection. We consider a buyer who places an order from a supplier. When a lot is received, the buyer uses some type of inspection policy. The fraction nonconforming is assumed to be a random variable following a beta distribution. Both the order quantity and the inspection policy are decision variables. In the inspection policy involving determining sampling plan parameters, constraints on the buyer and manufacturer risks are set in order to obtain a fair plan for both parties. A solution procedure for determining the operating policies for inventory and inspection consisting of order quantity, sample size, and acceptance number is proposed. Numerical examples are presented to conduct a sensitivity analysis for important model parameters and to illustrate important issues about the developed models.  相似文献

Unlike the traditional integrated supplier–buyer coordination model, this research incorporates overlapped delivery and imperfect items into the production–distribution model. This model improves the observable fact that the system might experience shortage during the screening duration and also takes quantity discount into account. This approach has not been discussed in previous integrated supplier–buyer coordination models. The expected annual integrated total cost function is derived and properties and theorems are explored to help develop an algorithm. A solution procedure, free from the convexity associated with an algorithm is established to find the optimal solution. A numerical example is given to illustrate the proposed procedure and algorithm. A sensitivity analysis is made to investigate the effects of five important parameters (the inspect rate, the annual demand, the defective rate, the holding cost, and the receiving cost) on the optimal solution. This paper considers a replenishment problem for a single buyer who orders multiple types of items from two or more heterogeneous suppliers in order to sell to end customers. The buyer periodically orders each type of item from the suppliers according to a select inventory control policy. Processing the order, each supplier enforces the policy that an order from the buyer must meet a predetermined minimum order quantity (MOQ). Therefore, the buyer must decide how much to order from each supplier considering the current inventory level, demand forecast, and MOQ requirement. The buyer's problem is formulated as an integer programming model and an efficient implementation strategy is suggested to apply the model to real problems. Numerical experiments are performed to test the validity of the proposed model as well as the efficiency of the implementation strategy. The experimental results show that this model combined with the implementation method yields a considerable cost reduction compared to the most efficient policy currently available.  相似文献

This paper deals with two-echelon integrated procurement production model for the manufacturer and the buyer integrated inventory system. The manufacturer procures raw material from outside suppliers (not a part of supply chain) then proceed to convert it as finished product, and finally delivers to the buyer, who faces imprecise and uncertain, called fuzzy random demand of customers. The manufacturer and the buyer work under joint channel, in which a centralized decision maker makes all decisions to optimize the joint total relevant cost (JTRC) of entire supply chain. In this account, in one production cycle of the manufacturer we determine an optimal multi-ordering policy for the buyer. To be part of this, we first derive the JTRC in stochastic framework, and then extend it in fuzzy stochastic environment. In order to scalarize the fuzzy stochastic JTRC, we use an evaluation method wherein randomness is estimated by probabilistic expectation and fuzziness is estimated by possibilistic mean based on possibility evaluation measure. To derive the optimal policies for both parties, an algorithm is proposed. A numerical illustration addresses the situations of paddy procurement, conversion to rice and fulfillment of uncertain demand of rice. Furthermore, sensitivity of parameters is examined to illustrate the model and algorithm.  相似文献

We studied a supplier selection problem, where a buyer, while facing random demand, is to decide ordering quantities from a set of suppliers with different yields and prices. We provided the mathematical formulation for the buyer's profit maximization problem and proposed a solution method based on a combination of the active set method and the Newton search procedure. Our computational study shows that the proposed method can solve the problem efficiently, and is able to generate interesting and insightful results that lead us to various managerial implications.

Scope and purpose

In today's globally competitive environment, decision makers in supply chains face numerous challenges particularly regarding the selection of suppliers or outsourcing partners. To assist in this endeavor, we examined a double-layered supply chain where a buyer facing the end users has the option of selecting among a cohort of suppliers. The available suppliers may have different yield rates and unit costs. The buyer has to decide, given the stochastic nature of the problem's governing parameters, whether or not to order from each supplier, and if so how much. We developed a ‘newsvendor-style’ model for the problem, and proposed a solution algorithm for it. Numerical studies were performed to provide some insights for supplier selection and order quantity decisions.  相似文献

Carbon emission tax is an important measure for sustainable supply chain management. This paper studies an optimal supplier selection problem in the fashion apparel supply chain in the presence of carbon emission tax. We consider the scenario in which there are multiple suppliers in the market. In the basic model, each supplier offers a supply lead time and a wholesale pricing contract to the fashion retail buyer. For the fashion retail buyer, the supplier which offers a shorter lead time allows it to postpone the ordering decision with updated and better forecast, and also a smaller carbon tax. However, the wholesale price is usually larger. We propose a two-phase optimal supplier selection scheme in which phase one filters the inferior suppliers and phase two helps to select the best supplier among the set of non-inferior suppliers by multi-stage stochastic dynamic programming. The impacts brought by different formats of carbon emission tax are explored. Finally, we examine an extended model in which there is a local supplier who offers a buyback contract and accepts product returns. Insights from the analysis are discussed.  相似文献

Supply chain management is concerned with the coordination of material and information flows in multi-stage production systems. A closer look at the literature reveals that previous research on the coordination of multi-stage production systems has predominantly focused on the sales side of the supply chain, whereas problems that arise on the supply side have often been neglected. This article closes this gap by studying the coordination of a supplier network in an integrated inventory model. Specifically, we consider a buyer sourcing a product from heterogeneous suppliers and tackle both the supplier selection and lot size decision with the objective to minimise total system costs. First, we provide mathematical formulations for the problem under study, and then suggest a two-stage solution procedure to derive a solution. Numerical studies indicate that our solution procedure reduces the total number of supplier combinations that have to be tested for optimality, and that it may support initiatives which aim on increasing the efficiency of the supply chain as a heuristic planning tool.  相似文献
