The increasing economic competition of all industrial markets and growing complexity of engineering problems lead to a progressive specialisation and distribution of expertise, tools and work sites. Most industrial sectors manage this fragmentation using the concurrent engineering approach, which is based on tools integration and shared databases and requires significant investments in design and work organisation. Besides, the multidisciplinary design optimisation (MDO) is more and more used as a method for optimal solutions search with regard to multiple coupled disciplines. The paper describes a quite innovative multidisciplinary optimisation method based on robust design techniques: MORDACE (multidisciplinary optimisation and robust design approaches applied to concurrent engineering). Managing uncertainty due to design teams collaboration, our automatic optimisation strategy allows concurrently designing different aspects or parts of a complex product. The method assures effective design work distribution and high optimisation results, containing the CPU time. In addition, our strategy is suited to the early stages of the design cycle, where evolutions of design goals and constraints are possible and exhaustive information about the design space is necessary. A roll stabiliser fin optimisation is presented as an example of this method applied to an industrial design problem.  相似文献

The authors present a model for design quality metrics, discuss its relevance, and give some examples of use. Design experiments demonstrate error data extraction and analysis. Using a model of the design process for electronic products that emphasizes the resulting quality of the design, the authors demonstrated that they can quantify design quality. Studies have revealed usability problems with universal design resources (UDRs). In this paper, four UDR development cases are reviewed (Section 508 standards, Web accessibility guidelines, the British Standard on managing inclusive design, and Irish guidelines on public access terminals). Evidence of a user-centered design approach was found in only one case. The needs of people making universally usable products and services in industry are discussed in the context of the use of UDRs and results of organizational research studies. Nine recommendations are made on the development of user-centered UDRs and the setup and management of accessibility teams in organizations.  相似文献

In the early stages of mechanical product design, designers not only need to determine the physical structure of the design, but also need to verify that the design functions properly with the allowable values or ranges of values of the relevant design attributes. Existing work on design verification is either aimed at specific design problems, which are generally carried out at the downstream design stages, or aimed at deriving design behavior using a behavioral simulation approach. Functional design verification has largely been neglected by the research society. To tackle this problem, we propose a generic constraint-based approach that is based on a comprehensive functional design model. A number of strategies are proposed for the approach, including strategies for design variables reduction, variable dependency graph development, constraint propagation, and dynamic verification of a design over an assigned set of attributes (variables). The approach is implemented as part of a functional modeling design environment. A simple design verification case is presented to illustrate our approach.  相似文献

MDX is a language that expresses selections, calculations, and some metadata definitions against an Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) database. As the user interface with OLAP, the MDX complier is a major component of the OLAP analysis server. This paper addresses the system design of MDX compiler via the ADD method, meaning that system requirements, including functional and quality requirements and constraints, are considered as drivers in the design process. Abstract In this paper, we review the invisibility cloak design methodologies and their experimental devel- opments from a practical perspective, as well as basic underlying theories, derived materials, and experimental implementations. Particular stress is laid on the recent transition from forward design to inverse design where some significant limitations of previous cloaking solution in practice can be solved. We anticipate that future invisibility cloaking devices will be based on integration of both forward and inverse designs.  相似文献
