Temperature-dependent quantized double layer charging of monolayer-protected gold clusters 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This paper describes low-temperature voltammetry of purified hexanethiolate-coated monolayer-protected Au140 clusters (C6 MPCs). Lowered temperatures enhance the resolution of quantized double layer (QDL) charging peaks in differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) observations. As many as 13 resolved peaks are seen in illustrative voltammetry at 263 K in CH2Cl2 solvent, and the concept of voltammetric peak capacity is introduced. For the one-electron MPC charge steps surrounding the E(PZC) of the MPC (small numbers of electrons added or removed from the core), the capacitance C(CLU) of the MPCs (measured from the voltage spacing between charging peaks) increases by approximately 15% as the solvent temperature is lowered from 273 to 210 K. The experimental C(CLU) temperature dependency (d[ln(C(CLU))]/dT approximately -0.0025, in 0.1 M electrolyte) is discussed in light of temperature dependencies of the compact and diffuse double layer capacitances. It is concluded that the observed temperature dependence is probably a mixed diffuse, compact dependence. The regular voltage spacing of MPC charging peaks near the potential of zero charge is generally consistent with electrical double layer properties, but the irregular pattern of charging of the nanoparticles seen at higher charge states suggests intervention of the incipient molecular behavior of Au140 cores in the spacing of energies at which further electrons are added or removed. 相似文献

Recently, as applications based on triboelectricity have expanded, understanding the triboelectric charging behavior of various materials has become essential. This study investigates the triboelectric charging behaviors of various 2D layered materials, including MoS2, MoSe2, WS2, WSe2, graphene, and graphene oxide in a triboelectric series using the concept of a triboelectric nanogenerator, and confirms the position of 2D materials in the triboelectric series. It is also demonstrated that the results are obviously related to the effective work functions. The charging polarity indicates the similar behavior regardless of the synthetic method and film thickness ranging from a few hundred nanometers (for chemically exfoliated and restacked films) to a few nanometers (for chemical vapor deposited films). Further, the triboelectric charging characteristics could be successfully modified via chemical doping. This study provides new insights to utilize 2D materials in triboelectric devices, allowing thin and flexible device fabrication. 相似文献

A Potential scenario for the implementation of molecular electronic systems is introduced by applying digital signal processing techniques to results from classical molecular dynamics simulations of a molecular system interconnected by nanosize gold clusters. Under this new scenario, signals can be introduced, processed, and read through interactions with the internal vibrational modes of the small molecular unit. We use modulation operations intrinsically inherent to any molecular system as a concept proof. As an example of this type of analysis, we focus on the individual oscillations between C-H and C-C bonds and cluster-cluster displacements. 相似文献
