Quality is the Basis, Safety the Bottom Line New Grand Goals for Quality Inspection Work in 2010

On January 7, 2010, the Work Conference of National Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine was held in Beijing.Leaders of the state council held the conference in high regard.Before the conference,Vice Premier Wang Qishan of P.R.C.was briefed on standardization and quality inspection work, when he fully approved of quality inspection work in 2009 and posed requirements for work in 2010.He stressed that quality was the basis, safety was the bottom line, and systematic and regional quality safety problems should be avoided.     

2004 BSI Communication Day

On 14th Sept. 2004, with the theme of "To make Standards associate, to keep in step with the world", BSI (British Standards Institution)--an influential standardization organization in the world--held its 2004 Customers Communication Meeting and Press Conference in Beijing. Standardization, as a very effective tool, plays a more and more important supporting role in promoting China＇s policy implementation in addressing climate change and other issues. This paper summarizes the international situation and progress, and analyzes the international development tendency of carbon emission management standardization. Correspondingly, the national situation and progress of carbon emission management standardization is reviewed including involvement of international standardization, establishment of national standardization committee, development of national standards and so on. And the policy suggestions are raised to strengthen the standardization work in the fields of addressing climate change during the 12^th Five-Year Plan period.

About 494 presentations (287 oral, 207 posters) at this conference covered the following 13 areas: Adsorption and gas storage, Biological and medical application, Carbon nanomaterials, Chars/cokes and industrial applications, Electronic/Electrochemical properties and applications, Flame formed carbons, Materials characterization/techniques, Membranes/pyrocarbons and diamond films, Novel forms and chemically modified carbons, Porous carbons/activations, Precursor chemistry/carbonization and graphitization, Reactivity/catalysis and surface science, Structural carbons/fibers and composites.
