This paper introduces new algorithms for analysis and optimization of infeed centerless grinding, based on high-level integration of grinding models into a web-based simulation. This holistic approach to simulation facilitates system-level simulation and solvers for several interlinked problems associated with the process mechanics. Emphasis is on structuring the model-based simulation as well as adapting and incorporating the underlying models into the algorithms. Geometric lobing-, chatter- and spinning-related process stability, as well as a time domain continuity equation, are integrated into the simulation to analyze the main quality-related limitations of the process. Once the process stability is assured for the process set-up, optimization strategies and a new infeed cycle definition function are proposed to achieve a minimal or target cycle time. An example of experimental optimization is provided to compare a high-quality process with a target cycle time to an optimized high-productivity process – demonstrating a 70% reduction in cycle time. 相似文献

Induction-coupled plasma deposition (ICPD) is currently a laboratory process relying on operator expertise rather than automated control. Intelligent process control for the ICPD process, which consists of integration of processing knowledge, process models, process sensors and control technology, offers the opportunity to provide closed-loop control as well as intelligent supervisory control to accelerate process development and bring the ICPD process to full-scale production. A variant from the laser-arc hybrid welding process family which combines a pulsed laser process (Nd:YAG) and a pulsed (micro)TIG welding process is described.For studying the present variant process’ characteristics experimental work was carried out using video data acquisition and thermal imaging. In this paper, the characteristics of the present hybrid welding process variant and the influence of TIG welding parameters onto the process stability and the welding process result are presented. The experimental work revealed that the transient hybrid coupling phenomena, which is specific to the present hybrid process variant, has an important influence onto the process stability and the processing result. At the same time a strong interaction between the controlled process parameters was observed and that rather small changes to the process parameters values have a strong effect onto the process stability. The recommended TIG frequency domain for using as well as the variant which provides the best option to attenuate the penetration variation, specific to pulsed laser welding, was determined. The TIG frequency values which seem to lead to a stable welding process are of the same order as the ones used for laser pulse repetition rates. The variant that leads to an attenuation of the penetration is pulsed TIG-laser (with TIG as the leading process). 相似文献

Optimization of casting process involves the adjustment of parameters as well as the improvement of process schemes and measures. This paper proposes a new method based on the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) for casting process optimization, and realizes the idea of applying TRIZ to optimize the casting process of a magnesium alloy intake manifold. By this method, the casting process is optimized so as to remove the shrinkage pores. The successful optimization of casting process demonstrates the feasibility of the proposed method. 相似文献

Over the last three decades, process control in aluminum smelters has improved significantly as it is the biggest leverage
for cost and energy reduction in production and product quality improvement, as well as for meeting environmental compliance.
The implementation of computerized automatic control systems two decades ago was a step change in improvement in the state
of the art of process control. However, the complex and dynamic nature of the process requires human monitoring, diagnosis,
and intervention from time to time. This study investigates the use of the supervisory screen of the control system of a smelter,
as well as the effectiveness of visual guidelines to help the operators to identify process abnormalities. The results show
that visual guidelines such as voltage patterns which are used as a reference improve the performance of the operators. Detection
time and falsealarm rates were reduced in addition to increasing detection sensitivities. It is proposed that a higher level

Use of FEM in the metal forming process has been a proven analysis tool. Two-dimensional FEA for simplified sections can help to reduce time and cost in part, tooling and process design in tube hydroforming technology as it is a relatively new process, and the existing experience and knowledge base is not as broad as with other forming processes. Some case studies are presented to demonstrate the use of two-dimensional FEA in the hydroforming process. Upon verification through comparison of FEA predictions with experimental results, further planned simulations are conducted to generate simple design rules on geometrical and process parameters. 相似文献

A process of combined additive and subtractive techniques for the direct freeform fabrication of metallic prototypes and tools is being developed by the authors. This hybrid process, called ‘3D welding and milling’, uses gas metal arc welding (GMAW) as an additive and conventional milling as a subtractive technique, thereby exploiting the advantages of both processes. In this paper, the results of the optimization of the deposition process using a statistical approach as well as the result of plastic injection molding with the inserts fabricated by this hybrid process are described.
