Electroless nickel-plating on die cast magnesium alloy AZ91D was investigated. Growth of the electroless nickel-plating coating was characterized using scanning electron microscopy. Corrosion resistance of the coating was evaluated by open circuit potential and potentiodynamic polarization curves in 3.5% (mass fraction) NaC1 solution. The results show that plating deposition is initiated on the crevices and then spread onto primary a phase. The corrosion potentials for die cast magnesium alloy AZ91D and nickel-plating coating are about -1.45 V and -0.36 V (vs. SCE), respectively. No discoloration, cracks, blisters, or peeling appear by heat-quench test. The results show that the corrosion potential of Ni-P coating is increased by 1 000 mV and corrosion resistance for die cast magnesium alloy AZ91D is improved. The adhesion between the coating and the substrate is excellent. Electroless nickel plating is a promising method to enhance magnesium alloys resistance for attacking.  相似文献

Corrosion behavior of WE54 magnesium alloy in 3.5%NaCl solution   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The corrosion behavior of WE54 magnesium alloy was investigated in 3.5%NaCl aqueous solution. The electrochemical study shows that the value of corrosion potential of WE54 magnesium was -1.8V(vs SCE). In the initial stage of immersion, a kind of visible thin film, which has the appearance of artificial conversion coating by microscopy observation, formed on the surface of WE54 alloy. Through the comparison of corrosion behavior between WE54 and AZ91D, it is shown that the value of corrosion potential of WE54 is approximately 200 mV lower than that of AZ91D, and the corrosion rate of WE54 was one order smaller than that of AZ91D. After 72 h constant immersion and corrosion products removal, deeper grooves along grain boundaries was revealed but lighter corrosion was apparent on the matrix of WE54 alloy. As far as AZ91D alloy was concerned, severe localized corrosion was dominant and network-bone-like structure was remained.  相似文献

A promising duplex coating was prepared by microarc oxidation(MAO) and enameling processes onto polished Ti6A14V alloy. The TiO_2 ceramic coating deposited by MAO was characterized and then combined with an enameling treatment in order to improve the tribological and corrosion resistance of Ti6A14V alloy. The morphology, phase composition, and hardness of MAO and MAO/enameling-coated Ti6A14V alloy were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD), and Vickers microhardness tester, respectively. The tribological performance was investigated using a ballon-disk tribometer. The corrosion resistance was studied using immersion tests and potentiodynamic polarization.Wear tests show that the enamel coating on the MAOcoated surface causes a reduction in the friction coefficient.Immersion tests demonstrate that the duplex coating is more effective in improving the corrosion resistance of Ti6A14V than the MAO coating especially at high temperature(80 ℃). Potentiodynamic polarization curves reveal that the corrosion potential of the duplex coating increases by about 250 mV and the corrosion current density is slightly lower than that of the MAO coating. The duplex coating is superior to the stand-alone MAO coating in improving the tribological and corrosion behavior of Ti6A14V.  相似文献

The effects of increase extent of voltage on the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of micro-arc oxidation(MAO) coatings on AZ91D magnesium alloy were investigated in silicate electrolyte. The results show that with increasing extent of voltage, both of the thickness and bonding force of MAO coatings first increase, and then decrease. These parameters are all up to their maximum values when the increase extent of voltage is 20 V.The roughness of the coatings always increases. The coating has the best c...  相似文献

A protecting zinc and aluminum coating on the surface of AZ91D magnesium alloys was obtained by thermal spraying to improve the corrosion and wear resistance performances. In order to enhance the combination between magnesium alloy matrix and zinc and aluminum coating, the sample was heat-treated at 300 ℃ for 2 h, then, the cross-section patterns, XRD pattern, micro-hardness, wear and corrosion resistance abilities were researched. The results indicate that the interface between the coating and substrate is metallurgical bond, and a transitional fusion layer is formed by diffusion. The micro-scale abrasion test and polarization test in 3% NaCl solution show that the diffusion-treated specimen has better wear and corrosion resistance performances in comparison with the undiffusion-treated and substrate magnesium alloys; in addition, it has relatively higher micro-hardness than the undiffusion-treated magnesium alloys.  相似文献

A direct electroless Ni-P plating treatment was applied to AZ91D magnesium alloy for improving its corrosion resistance and wear resistance. Corrosion resistance of the Ni-P coatings was evaluated by potentiodynamic polarization and immersing experiments in 3.5% NaCl solution. The wear resistance of the coatings was investigated by the wear track and the mass change after ball-on-disk experiment. The results show that corrosion resistance and wear resistance of the AZ91D alloy are greatly improved after direct electroless Ni-P plating. No discoloration is noticed until 4 d of immersion in 3.5% NaC1 solution. Potentiodynamic polarization experiments show that the free corrosion potential of magnesium alloy is shifted from -1 500 mV to -250 mV and passivation occurs at 1 350 mV after direct electroless plating. The friction coefficients and wear rates of Ni-P coating and Ni-P coating after tempering are 0.10-0.351, 9.038×10^-3 mm^3/m and 0.13-0.177, 3.056×10^-4 mm^3/m, respectively, at a load of 1.5 N with dry sliding. Although minor hurt on corrosion resistance was caused, significant improvement of wear resistance was obtained after tempering treatment of the coating.  相似文献

The influences of Ca and Y additions on the microstructure and corrosion resistance of vacuum die-cast AZ91 alloys were investigated by optical microscope, electron scanning microscope,weight-loss test, and electrochemical corrosion experiment. The results indicate that the Ca or Ca and Y additions refined the microstructure and decreased the amount of Mg17Al12 phase on grain boundaries in the alloys.Meanwhile, the addition of Ca and Y led to the formation of network Al2 Ca phase and rod-like Al2 Y phase, improved the corrosion resistance of AZ91 magnesium alloy.Compared with AZ91 alloy, the corrosion rate of AZ91–1.5Ca–1.0Y alloy was decreased to 16.2%,and its corrosion current density was dropped by one order of magnitude after immersion in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution for 24 h.  相似文献

To improve the wear and corrosion properties of AZ91D magnesium alloys, Cu-based amorphous composite coatings were fabricated on AZ91D magnesium alloy by laser cladding using mixed powders of Cu47Ti34Zr11Ni8 and SiC. The wear and corrosion behaviours of the coatings were investigated. The wear resistance of the coatings was evaluated under dry sliding wear condition at room temperature. The corrosion resistance of the coatings was tested in 3.5% (mass fraction) NaCl solution. The coatings exhibit excellent wear resistance due to the recombined action of amorphous phase and different intermetallic compounds. The main wear mechanisms of the coatings and the AZ91D sample are different. The former is abrasive wear and the latter is adhesive wear. The coatings compared with AZ91D magnesium alloy also exhibit good corrosion resistance because of the presence of the amorphous phase in the coatings.  相似文献

The combined microarc oxidation (MAO) and inorganic sealing process was used to deposit a composite coating to improve the corrosion resistance of AZ31 magnesium alloy. The surface morphologies of the resulting duplex coatings were studied by SEM.Furthermore, the corrosion resistance of the coated Mg alloy substrates was investigated using electrochemical workstation and dropping corrosion test. The results show that the composite coating surface consists of Mg,Si,O and Na.It is difficult to deposit inorganic coating on a thick MAO coating surface. As the composite coating was solidified by CO2 under 175 °C,it exhibits a better corrosion resistance than the MAO monolayer, owing to the thick and compact inorganic coating.  相似文献
