Investigations on the sorptional behaviour, thickness swelling, and mechanical properties of particleboards prepared from UF-resinated wood particles treated with 1% and 2% paraformaldehyde prior to pressing led to the following conclusions: Addition of paraformaldehyde decreased the hygroscopicity of particleboard only insignificantly. However, it led to a pronounced reduction in the thickness swelling of particleboards in water as well as in humid air. The reduction in thickness swelling due to treatment with paraformaldehyde was higher for particleboards prepared without paraffin as a sizing agent than for particleboards containing this additive. Moreover, the treatment with paraformaldehyde increased the transverse tensile strength of the particleboards to a high extent (35% to 50%). 相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate some mechanical and physical properties of one-layer particleboards made from various willow (Salix viminalis) and industrial pine wood particle mixtures bonded with urea formaldehyde resin. Modulus of elasticity and modulus of rupture decreased, whereas internal bond and screw holding strengths increased with increasing willow particle content. The decrease in bending properties was rather small; these properties of particleboards containing 50 % willow particles were on average smaller by about 10 % than particleboards containing only industrial wood particles. Increasing the willow particle content resulted in improved water absorption and thickness swelling. The willow Salix viminalis can be considered as a substitute for pine wood for manufacturing of particleboards. 相似文献

The use of white birch (Betula papyrifera) inner bark particles as a raw material for panel manufacture is more profitable than their use for energy production. The objective of this study was to manufacture three layers mixed particleboards based on white birch inner bark particles in the core and reinforced with wood fibres in the face. Two manufacturing factors were taken into account: the percentage of wood fibres in the surface and the percentage of wood fibres added to white birch inner bark particles in the core. The panel with 25% fibres in the surface and 9% fibres added to white birch inner bark particles in the core had the best mechanical properties for M-1 grade of particleboards and 120 grade of medium density fiberboards. Only panel with 22% fibres in the surface and 5% fibres added to white birch inner bark particles in the core passed the standard for the linear expansion. 相似文献
