A new transmission electron microscopy (TEM) specimen preparation procedure for high temperature experiments using a controlled atmosphere specimen holder (HTCASH) has been developed. It is designed for studying the microstructure of catalyst specimens before and after treatments in various gases. The procedure involved (1) finding a new formula for the embedding material, (2) devising a new method of making specimen supports, and (3) developing a method for removing the embedding material after the specimen has been microtomed. These techniques were then brought together to produce the ideal specimens for the HTCASH experiments. As an extra benefit, this procedure is also suitable for preparing specimens for ultrahigh resolution imaging experiments. The application of the new procedure in HTCASH experiments is illustrated through a high temperature reduction of a Co/SiO2-923 catalyst.  相似文献

Multi-Criteria Decision Aid (MCDA) or Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods have received much attention from researchers and practitioners in evaluating, assessing and ranking alternatives across diverse industries. Among numerous MCDA/MCDM methods developed to solve real-world decision problems, the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) continues to work satisfactorily across different application areas. In this paper, we conduct a state-of-the-art literature survey to taxonomize the research on TOPSIS applications and methodologies. The classification scheme for this review contains 266 scholarly papers from 103 journals since the year 2000, separated into nine application areas: (1) Supply Chain Management and Logistics, (2) Design, Engineering and Manufacturing Systems, (3) Business and Marketing Management, (4) Health, Safety and Environment Management, (5) Human Resources Management, (6) Energy Management, (7) Chemical Engineering, (8) Water Resources Management and (9) Other topics. Scholarly papers in the TOPSIS discipline are further interpreted based on (1) publication year, (2) publication journal, (3) authors’ nationality and (4) other methods combined or compared with TOPSIS. We end our review paper with recommendations for future research in TOPSIS decision-making that is both forward-looking and practically oriented. This paper provides useful insights into the TOPSIS method and suggests a framework for future attempts in this area for academic researchers and practitioners.  相似文献

It was the purpose of this investigation to prove the biomechanical properties, the osteoconductive capacity and the degradation rate of tricalcium phosphate ( TCP), a neutralized glass ceramics (GB9N) and a composite material (GB9N+copolymers). In a weight-bearing animal model six substitutes each were implanted in the medial tibial head of the right lower leg of adult Merino-sheep in a standardized surgical technique. After nine months the implants were harvested and prepared for histomorphological and histomorphometrical investigations (undecalcified Masson Goldner staining). For additional biomechanical testing of the specimens, non-operated bone blocks from the contralateral tibia as well as native implants served as controls. No significant differences for the maximum fracture load as well as for the yield strength were detected between harvested specimens and bone blocks from the contralateral tibia. However there were marked differences to ceramics that were not implanted. All substitutes showed osteoconduction, leading to a continuous ingrowth of new formed bone. However in the composite material soft tissue could be identified within the scaffold and there were signs of ongoing bone remodeling, nine months after implantation. The bone per tissue volume of -TCP in conjunction to new bone (=percentage of trabecular bone volume plus percentage of residual substitute) was higher than for GB9N and the composite material. Nine months after implantation the percentage of residual -TCP was 48%, it was 32% for GB9N and 28% for the composite.The intention of further studies should be to accelerate the degradation rates of substitutes and to improve biomechanical properties of implants by either modifying the chemical composition or combining materials with agents as, e.g. growth factors.  相似文献

Delay to large scale projects, which is as a result of actions or inactions of some project stakeholders, is becoming a global phenomena and Ghana is no exception. The objective of the research is to identify, rate and rank the most significant risk factors that causes delay on projects and examine the social impact of these delays to recommend modalities to help mitigate these risk factors. The study adopted quantitative methods with the distribution of 144 questionnaires to built environment professionals receiving a response rate of 75.7%. The instrument listed 58 common factors under eight categories that contribute to the causes of delay for respondents to rate. Analysis of data non-parametric test revealed that client, contractor, material and finance category factors significantly resulted in the schedule delay of large infrastructural projects. The survey analysis revealed that micro-factors that result in delays to large construction projects are time constraint, cost overrun, payment problems, dispute and litigation. The research recommended the following modalities to minimize such delays: availability of resources, improved communication and coordination, proper scope definition and feasibilities, utilization of modern technology, appropriate application of technologically based systems and competent project management's structures.  相似文献

Lethal congenital contracture syndrome (LCCS) is an autosomal recessive disease leading to death before the 32d gestational week. It is characterized by the fetal akinesia phenotype, with highly focused degeneration of motoneurons in the spinal cord as the main neuropathological finding. We report here the assignment of the LCCS locus to a defined region of chromosome 9q34, between markers D9S1825 and D9S1830. The initial genome scan was performed with the DNA samples of only five affected individuals from two unrelated LCCS families. The conventional linkage analysis performed with 20 affected individuals and their families was focused on those chromosomal regions in which the affected siblings were identical by descent in the initial scan. One core haplotype of 3 cM was observed in LCCS alleles, supporting the assumption of one major mutation underlying LCCS, and linkage disequilibrium analysis restricted the critical chromosomal region to <100 kb in the vicinity of marker D9S61. Two genes, NGAL (neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin and NOTCH 1, were excluded as causative genes for LCCS  相似文献

Secondary fracture healing is known to be accelerated by the process of periosteal callus formation that can be induced by flexible fracture fixation in connection with loading of the injured extremity. The purpose of this study was to compare the healing of experimental fractures of long bones in sheep under early weightbearing with that of fractures under delayed, steadily increasing weightbearing. Differences in the quality of fracture healing were described by biomechanical (rigidity of fracture, indentation stiffness of callus) and histologic methods. Prevention from early, full weightbearing resulted in a higher flexural rigidity of the fracture, an increased mechanical stiffness of the callus tissue, and an enhanced bone formation at the healing front. Although early loading of a fresh fracture initiated an enormous amount of periosteal callus, the healing of the osteotomy was significantly delayed, and the quality of the newly formed tissue was reduced as compared with fractures with a reduced loading situation. A reduction of load transfer by delaying full weightbearing is advantageous for the healing of fractures stabilized with flexible fixation systems.  相似文献

The use of plastic films with specific diffusion or permeation properties for industrial applications has grown at a considerable rate. Some useful applications are found in medical devices, bioreactors, and combustible fuel storage where polymer films function as separation membranes that allow permeation of different gases at different rates. In this work, the permeation and diffusion properties of a polyester‐based thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) were investigated. TPU injected and extruded specimens were subjected to thermal treatment (annealing) at 100°C for 20 h. Injected samples were exposed to certain hygrothermal conditions and films were prepared to evaluate the influence of annealing on the permeation of gases. In order to achieve a complete analysis, tests such as differential scanning calorimetry, tensile tests, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy were conducted to examine the morphological changes. These were then correlated to the TPU permeation behavior after annealing. Water uptake by the polymer—measured as weight gain—likely indicates an increase in the free volume in the amorphous domains. Similarly, in permeation and water immersion tests, the diffusion rate of gases and H2O through the TPU was higher for the annealed samples when compared to those without treatment, indicating that diffusion within the polymer is dependent on the postprocessing thermal treatment. A controlled atmosphere specimen holder (CASH) has been developed for transmission electron microscopy (TEM) experiments. It is designed for studying the specimen's microstructure before and after treatments in various gases (H2, O2, N2, Ar, etc.) at temperatures up to 600°C. The experiments are carried out without exposing the specimen to the ambient atmosphere. No modification of the electron microscope itself is needed. The same area of the specimen can be easily located after each gas treatment, thus the changes in the microstructure can be studied directly. Preliminary results on the cyclic oxidation and reduction of a model cobalt catalyst are presented.  相似文献

Physico-chemical characterization of the high-silica zeolite catalyst SSZ-74 (ref. 1) suggested that it, like the related materials TNU-9 (ref. 2) and IM-5 (ref. 3), has a multidimensional 10-ring channel system. Such pore systems are ideal for many petrochemical applications, and indeed SSZ-74 has been shown to be a good catalyst for a wide variety of reactions. The elucidation of its framework structure, however, proved to be difficult. Comparable problems were encountered with TNU-9 and IM-5, which were synthesized with related structure-directing agents. Their framework structures, which are the two most complex ones known, both have 24 Si atoms in the asymmetric unit, and were finally solved by combining high-resolution powder diffraction data with information derived from high-resolution electron microscopy images. Therefore, a similar approach, using the powder charge-flipping algorithm to combine the two types of data and molecular modelling to help to locate the structure-directing agent, was applied to SSZ-74. This procedure eventually revealed a most unusual 23-Si-atom framework structure (|(C(16)H(34)N(2))(4)&Si(92)(4)O(184)(OH)(8)]) with ordered Si vacancies.  相似文献
