1-(E,Z)-3,5-undecatriene and 1-(E,Z,Z)-3,5,8-undecatetraene were isolated under enzyme inhibition from edible parts of peach, passion fruit, and kiwi; the triene only was found in celery, parsley, mandarine, apple and pear. Capillary gas chromatography, sniffing-capillary gas chromatography, and combined “live”-capillary gas chromatography-mass spectrometry of the concentrated liquid-liquid extracts were used to establish their identity. Owing to their ultra-low odor detection thresholds and the proposed biogenesis, these trace compounds may be “character impacts” in a wide variety of food flavors of plant origin.  相似文献

In this article we develop a new method to segment high angular resolution diffusion imaging (HARDI) data. We first estimate the orientation distribution function (ODF) using a fast and robust spherical harmonic (SH) method. Then, we use a region-based statistical surface evolution on this image of ODFs to efficiently find coherent white matter fiber bundles. We show that our method is appropriate to propagate through regions of fiber crossings and we show that our results outperform state-of-the-art diffusion tensor (DT) imaging segmentation methods, inherently limited by the DT model. Results obtained on synthetic data, on a biological phantom, on real datasets and on all 13 subjects of a public NMR database show that our method is reproducible, automatic and brings a strong added value to diffusion MRI segmentation.

Piezoelectricity is a well‐established property of biological materials, yet its functional role has remained unclear. Here, a mechanical effect of piezoelectric domains resulting from collagen fibril organisation is demonstrated, and its role in tissue function and application to material design is described. Using a combination of scanning probe and nonlinear optical microscopy, a hierarchical structuring of piezoelectric domains in collagen‐rich tissues is observed, and their mechanical effects are explored in silico. Local electrostatic attraction and repulsion due to shear piezoelectricity in these domains modulate fibril interactions from the tens of nanometre (single fibril interactions) to the tens of micron (fibre interactions) level, analogous to modulated friction effects. The manipulation of domain size and organisation thus provides a capacity to tune energy storage, dissipation, stiffness, and damage resistance.  相似文献

Inspired by the recent success of buckling-induced reconfigurable structures, a new class of deployable systems that harness buckling of curved beams upon a rotational input is proposed. First, experimental and numerical methods are combined to investigate the influence of the beam's geometric parameters on its non-linear response. Then, it is shown that a wide range of deployable architectures can be realized by combining curved beams. Finally, the proposed principles are used to build deployable furniture such as tables and lamp shades that are flat/compact for transportation and storage, require simple or no assembly, and can be expanded by applying a simple rotational input.  相似文献

In this paper, we address the problem of estimating the parameters of an electrophysiological model of the heart from a set of electrical recordings. The chosen model is the reaction-diffusion model on the transmembrane potential proposed by Aliev and Panfilov. For this model of the transmembrane, we estimate a local apparent two-dimensional conductivity from a measured depolarization time distribution. First, we perform an initial adjustment including the choice of initial conditions and of a set of global parameters. We then propose a local estimation by minimizing the quadratic error between the depolarization time computed by the model and the measures. As a first step we address the problem on the epicardial surface in the case of an isotropic version of the Aliev and Panfilov model. The minimization is performed using Brent method without computing the derivative of the error. The feasibility of the approach is demonstrated on synthetic electrophysiological measurements. A proof of concept is obtained on real electrophysiological measures of normal and infarcted canine hearts.  相似文献

During the past years, research covering propagation, channelcharacterization and wireless systems performance have yield asubstantial knowledge of the 60 GHz channel. The unlicensed 60 GHzfrequency band presents many attractive properties for wirelesscommunications. The environments in which the 60 GHzinfrastructure are to be designed are typically propagation- andcoverage-limited. This paper describes the important factors thatmust be taken into account when designing a wireless local areanetwork (WLAN) architecture operating in this frequency band.Therefore, we motivate the reasons of using distributedtransmitting antennas and multiple receiving antennas (MRA) inorder to mitigate the poor Direction of Arrival (DoA) diversityand to exploit the spatial diversity at the receiver. Such asystem can be considered as a multiple input multiple output(MIMO) system. We investigate the advantages of combining aVirtual Cellular Network (VCN) (using single frequency network anddistributed antennas) and MRA for the downlink. Several ways tocombine the signals with different levels of complexity arepresented. In the most complex case using Singular ValueDecomposition (SVD), it is possible to add coherently thecontribution of each antenna in a virtual cell while retaining thepath diversity inherent to the VCN infrastructure. The schemesyield several advantages: symbol diversity is improved, pathdiversity is still present, antenna gain using multiplebeamformers is increased and the multipath can be reduced. Theconcept is applicable to most types of single frequency networksbut it is especially well appropriate for the 60 GHz VCN/WLANusing orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM).Simulations give a realistic performance for QPSK, 8-PSK, and16-QAM baseband modulations with a 256-subcarrier OFDM using arate 1/2–convolutional code for a 2 ×2 VCN system.Results show a Eb/N0 improvement of up to 6.2 dB usingthesingular value decomposition method with 16-QAM compared to thesingle input single output (SISO) coded reference.  相似文献
