Theoretical Models for Binder Burnout   总被引:8,自引:0,他引:8  
The kinetics of binder burnout, from a ceramic green body, are considered for the case of an "unzipping" binder which decomposes to produce a volatile monomer. The process is considered to fail if the concentration of monomer in the green body exceeds that in equilibrium with vapor at 1 atm (≅105 Pa), when an internal bubble would be expected to form. Steady-state diffusional calculations and computer simulations explore the size and temperature dependence of the process and are in agreement. The model suggests that it is not feasible to burn out a large flat piece greater than about 3 mm thick, without going to very long times of burnout. The kinetics are significantly improved if porosity develops in the piece during the early stages of decomposition, as opposed to the retreat of the binder into the piece on a uniform front.  相似文献

A method has been developed for calculating hydraulic pressures induced by thermal expansion of liquid binders early in the removal cycle, when evaporative losses are negligible and fully saturated conditions prevail. Specific results were obtained for flat compacts containing a common wax binder, mixed with varying amounts of low-density polyethylne. In general, these results show how the risk of hydraulic fracture increases with heating rate and compact thickness. Although pressures are minimal when the binder consists entirely of wax, the continual addition of polyethylene eventually gives rise to unacceptable risk levels, even for relatively thin compacts. Binder removal at elevated temperatures is considered subsequently. In this case, vapor pressures eventually approach a critical level, thereby allowing mass removal by evaporation to overcome the effect of thermal expansion in maintaining full saturation. With the onset of void formation, the developing capillary pressure supersedes hydraulic pressure as the driving force in liquid transport. Besides representing capillary flow, the present formulation also accounts for thermal degradation of the binder during removal. The resulting system of equations was solved numerically for a variety of representative debinding conditions. Predictions for flat compact containing a balanced wax/polyethylene binder indicate that thermal degradation of the polyethylene can give rise to a marked improvement in debinding rates. It turns out, however, that this enhancement is far more effective in thinner compacts.  相似文献

Currently, the use of blended cements incorporating various supplementary cementing materials, preserved in aggressive environments has become common. This paper describes the investigation results conducted on the evaluation of the resistance to magnesium sulfate solution (MgSO4) of limestone mortars containing simultaneously; limestone filler, blast furnace slag and natural pozzolan. In this study, the deterioration of limestone mortars due to sulfate attack was evaluated by measuring changes in weight, length and compressive strength at the ages of 30, 60, 90, 120 and 180 days of immersion in exposure environments. The X-ray diffraction was also used in order to determine the different mineral phases. It is noteworthy that, the pH variation of the conservation solutions has been monitored during tests. The exposure solution was renewed monthly until the end of tests. The results showed that, the resistance to sulfate attack of mortars made with quaternary binders was better than that of mortars based on ordinary Portland cement.  相似文献

Abstract— The current status of AC powder electroluminescent (ACPEL) displays is reviewed with particular emphasis given to color and lifetime. The printing of the displays in forward and reverse architectures is also discussed, in addition to the fabrication of ACPEL displays with interdigitated electrodes, and different types of ACPEL phosphors and materials for back electrodes, transparent conducting electrodes, binders, and dielectrics are considered. Furthermore, shape conformable and highly flexible ACPEL displays are surveyed.  相似文献

The hydration of Portland cement (PC) blended with a high amount of a siliceous fly ash (70% fly ash, 30% PC) has been examined. The fly ash contributes significantly to the long-term strength development, when compared to a reference sample with quartz powder. However the long setting time and the poor early strength prevent the use of such binders. Therefore the effect of different activators (sodium carbonate, potassium sodium silicate, potassium citrate and sodium oxalate) on the setting, the hydration kinetics and the strength development of the fly ash-PC blend has been investigated.The addition of the activators increases the pH and decreases thus the calcium concentrations in the pore solution, which leads to a faster reaction of alite and thus to early setting and increased early strength. On the long term, the high alkali concentrations lower the compressive strength and lead to a (partial) destabilization of ettringite.Sodium oxalate and potassium sodium silicate accelerate both the setting of the fly ash-PC blend and increase the early compressive strength. Furthermore, they show better compressive strengths at later ages compared to the other activators. Based on these findings, they can be considered as the most suitable accelerators among the investigated activators.  相似文献

The objective of this research is to study the effects produced by ternary binders which combine the addition of waste brick powder with fly ash, limestone, ground granulated blast furnace slag or waste glass powder in the microstructure and mechanical properties of mortars. In these ternary binders, the ordinary Portland cement was partially replaced by 10% of waste brick powder and 10% of another of the abovementioned additions. Mortars prepared with ordinary Portland cement without additions were also prepared. The microstructure was characterized with mercury intrusion porosimetry, electrical resistivity, and thermogravimetric analyses. Ultrasonic pulse velocity, compressive and flexural strengths were also determined. Mortars made using ternary binders with two active additions showed higher pore refinement and higher electrical resistivity at 250 days. Furthermore, their compressive strength and ultrasonic pulse velocity were relatively similar or even higher than that noted for reference specimens.  相似文献

It has been suggested that phosphate binders may reduce the inflammatory state of hemodialysis (HD) patients. However, it is not clear whether it has any effect on oxidative stress. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of sevelamer hydrochloride (SH) and calcium acetate (CA) on oxidative stress and inflammation markers in HD patients. Hemodialysis patients were randomly assigned to therapy with SH (n=17) or CA (n=14) for 1 year. Before the initiation of therapy (baseline) and at 12 months, we measured in vitro reactive oxygen species (ROS) production by stimulated and unstimulated polymorphonuclear neutrophils and serum levels of tumor necrosis factor α, interleukin-10, C-reactive protein, and albumin. There was a significant reduction of spontaneous ROS production in both groups after 12 months of therapy. There was a significant decrease of Staphylococcus aureus stimulated ROS production in the SH group. There was a significant increase in albumin serum levels only in the SH group. In the SH group, there was also a decrease in the serum levels of tumor necrosis factor α and C-reactive protein. Our results suggest that compared with CA treatment, SH may lead to a reduction in oxidative stress and inflammation. Therefore, it is possible that phosphate binders exert pleiotropic effects on oxidative stress and inflammation, which could contribute toward decreasing endothelial injury in patients in HD.  相似文献
