While feature tracking of sea ice using cross-correlation methods on pairs of satellite Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images has been extensively carried out in the Arctic, this is not the case in the Antarctic. This is due to the dynamic nature of Antarctic pack ice, its microwave signature, the tendency for SAR swath paths to be poorly aligned with the often narrow sea ice zone around the continent and inadequate satellite sampling. A semi-automated system, known as IPADS (IMCORR [IMageCORRelation] Processing, Analysis and Display System), has been developed to map fast ice and pack ice in Antarctica using multiple pairs of SAR images. The software processing pipeline uses overlapping image pairs which are geocoded and roughly registered using only data contained in the image headers. Next, fast ice maps are rapidly generated using zero motion features located within ocean regions. This also provides precise image registration. Finally, the same image pairs are re-examined for pack ice motion in a slower off-line batch process. The pack and fast ice are identified using a cluster-based search method which compares both location and motion information. Each image pair generates a NetCDF file which adds to a growing database of Antarctic sea ice motion and ice roughness. Five image-pair examples are presented to illustrate the methods used as well as their strengths and limitations. Territorial development in the Cape Verde archipelago under the Estado Novo dictatorship (1953–1974)
Despite Portugal's neutrality in the Second World War (1939–1945), the subsequent new world order meant that the Portuguese Government felt obliged to revise its overseas policies. A new regional awareness could be seen in the Six-Year National Development Plans launched by Estado Novo from 1953 until the revolution of 1974. The territory and its strategic potential were emphasized in the context of national policies of overseas urbanization. Interventions in Cape Verde are visible particularly in the First Development Plan, which was based on equipping the province's public facilities. The methodology of intervention involved setting up missions aimed at planning a set of specific public works which were essential to the development of existing settlements. A sharp increase in the development of the territory through the work of specialized brigades took place in the Third Development Plan, when a set of public works on road, hydraulic and electricity networks was undertaken. The planning of infrastructures that was undertaken in these years was essential to the development of the archipelago and the resulting regional and urban land-use planning of the various islands. 相似文献

In this study,the two kinds of Fe–Al coatings were fabricated by pack aluminizing on low-carbon steel at different temperatures.The corrosion behavior of the Fe–Al coatings in artificial seawater was investigated by the electrochemical and weight loss techniques.Results show that the thickness of coating layer increases with increasing aluminizing temperature.The coatings exhibit high micro-hardness and good metallurgical bonding with the substrate.In comparison with the steel substrate,the corrosion current density Icorrof the Fe–Al coatings is always lower than that of substrate,about 1/38 or 1/33 after 2 h immersion,and 1/3 or 1/6 for 720 h immersion.As can be seen from the weight loss curve,the Fe–Al coatings show less loss than that of the substrate within 30-day immersion.The corrosion products formed on the surface of the coatings include oxides of Al,Mg,Fe and Ca,and pitting defect has also been found.The Fe–Al coating with higher content of Fe_2Al_5 has better corrosion resistance. 相似文献

AbstractDirect current field (DCF) assisted pack cementation processes are designed to overcome the problems of higher processing temperature and longer time in conventional pack cementations (CPCs). Anode and specimen as cathode are parallel with each other, and are embedded in powder agents, all of which are sealed in a stainless steel box. Effects of DCF on pack cementations, including boriding, nitrocarburising, aluminising, siliconising and chromising, have been investigated by applying DCF between the electrodes during soaking. The results indicate that DCF can greatly enhance all these cementations. Effective pack cementations can be carried out at a lower temperature and/or by shorter soaking time with the help of DCF. Direct current field endows the treated specimen with properties being the same as or superior to that by CPC. It is proposed that DCF makes the concentrations of required element at and around the cathode specimen’s side facing the anode much higher than in any other positions in the CPC process by forcing required element containing species diffusing towards the cathode, which leads to reduction of the absorption of the required element by inner wall of the box and the non-working surface of the specimen. The physical effects of the DCF on the enhanced cementation are discussed. 相似文献

A Cr-modified aluminide coating is prepared on a Ni-based superalloy using arc ion plating and subsequent pack cementation aluminizing.Hot corrosion behavior of the Cr-modified aluminide coating exposed to molten Na2SO4/K2SO4(3:1) or Na2SO4/NaCl(3:1) salts at 900 °C in static air are evaluated as well as the aluminide coating.The results indicate that compared with the aluminide coating,the anti-corrosion properties of the Cr-modified aluminide coating in the both salts are improved,which should be attributed to the beneficial effect of the Cr in the coating.The corrosion mechanism of the Cr-modified aluminide coating,especially the role of Cr in the mixture salt corrosion,is discussed. 相似文献
