Metabolic side-effects of antihypertensive drugs may increase the risk of coronary heart disease despite an adequate blood pressure reduction. Since combinations of different antihypertensive drugs are often necessary and frequently used, we performed a randomized study comparing the effects of a fixed combination of hydrochlorothiazide and sotalol (group A), or hydrochlorothiazide and captopril (group B) on blood pressure and on lipid and glucose metabolism in 40 men with essential hypertension over 1 year. Significant blood pressure reductions (p < 0.001) were achieved in both treatment groups: from 160/105 to 128/88 mmHg in group A (mean doses: hydrochlorothiazide 33 and sotalol 197 mg) and from 162/106 to 135/89 mmHg in group B (hydrochlorothiazide 33 and captopril 64 mg) after 12 months, respectively. No significant changes in body weight were observed in either treatment group. Triglycerides increased (p < 0.05) in both treatment groups (from 183 to 262 mg/dl in A, and from 160 to 196 mg/dl in B) and HDL cholesterol decreased (p < 0.001 and < 0.05) in both groups (from 45.1 to 35.7 mg/dl in A, and from 49.3 to 46.3 mg/dl in B), whereas LDL cholesterol increased significantly (p < 0.05) only in group A from 153 to 164 mg/dl. No significant changes were observed in total cholesterol nor in lipoprotein(a) concentrations in either treatment group. Fasting plasma glucose and hemoglobin A1 increased significantly (p < 0.05) only in group A after 1 year of treatment (from 91.6 to 98.0 mg/dl, and from 6.3 to 6.9%, respectively). Serum levels of creatinine and potassium decreased, and uric acid increased significantly under either combination. Our data show that the diuretic/beta-blocker combination has adverse effects on lipid and glucose metabolism after long-term therapy. The effects of the diuretic/ACE inhibitor combination on lipid metabolism are less pronounced and there are no adverse effects on glucose metabolism. However, the ACE inhibitor component could not completely counteract the metabolic effects of the diuretic. Both combinations have no effects on Lp(a). We conclude that the combination of hydrochlorothiazide with an ACE inhibitor has a better metabolic profile for the treatment of essential hypertension than the combination with a beta-blocker.  相似文献

The effects of structural change in all sectors of some regions in multiregional input-output systems are explored in this paper. For each region, the changes in direct inputs are decomposed into a matrix of intraregional changes and a matrix of interregional backward linkage changes. This distinction provides for a decomposition of changes in the Leontief inverse into a sum of matrices representing the matrices of intraregional and interregional fields of influence of changes. In turn, this process facilitates the identification of changes in gross outputs that may be traced to changes in intra- and interregional structural changes. InP-based resonant tunneling hot electron transistors (RHET's) were studied systematically using chemical beam epitaxy (CBE) for the first time. All the RHET's studied have a highly strained AlAs/In0.75Ga0.25As/AlAs resonant tunneling double barrier as a hot electron injector, and an InP collector barrier with or without InGaAsP graded layers. The highest transport ratio (α) observed is 0.98, and the highest peak-to-valley current ratios (PVR's) measured are 20 and 200 in the collector current and base current, respectively, at 80 K. A self-consistent simulation is used as a reference to optimize the hot electron injector and to explain the ballistic transport. An energy spectrometer technique was applied to the RHET's for resolving the hot electron energy distribution which showed a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of around 58 meV, indicating ballistic transport of electrons. Finally, room temperature transistor action was also observed with a β of 4 and a cutoff frequency of 31 GHz  相似文献

This paper presents a method for designing a high accuracy white gaussian noise generator suitable for communication channel emulation. The proposed solution is based on the combined use of the Box-Muller method and the central limit theorem. The resulting architecture provides a high accuracy AWGN with a low complexity architecture for a digital implementation in FPGA. The performance is studied by means of MATLAB simulations and various complexity figures are given.  相似文献

Electrochemical treatment processes can significantly contribute to the protection of the environment through the minimization of waste and toxic materials in effluents. From a pharmaceutical point of view and due to the existing resemblance between the electrochemical and biological reactions, it can be assumed that the oxidation mechanisms on the electrode and in the body share similar principles. In this paper, the application of electrochemical studies in the design of an environmentally friendly method was delineated for the new hydrocaffeic acid (HCA, 3,4-dihydroxy hydrocinnamic acid) derivatives synthesis at carbon electrodes in an undivided cell. In this cell, the EC mechanism reaction was involved, comprising two steps alternatively; (1) electrochemical oxidation and (2) chemical reaction. In particular, the electro-organic reactions of HCA, an important biological molecule, were studied in a water–acetonitrile (90:10 v/v) mixture in the presence of benzenesulfinic acid (3) and p-toluenesulfinic acid (4). The research included the use of a variety of experimental techniques, such as cyclic voltammetry, controlled-potential electrolysis and product spectroscopic identification.  相似文献

We propose a new procedure for proof by induction in conditional theories where case analysis is simulated by term rewriting. This technique reduces considerably the number of variables of a conjecture to be considered for applying induction schemes. Our procedure is presented as a set of inference rules whose correctness has been formally proved. Moreover, when the axioms are ground convergent and the functions are completely defined, it is possible to apply the system for refuting conjectures. The procedure is even refutationally complete for conditional equations with Boolean preconditions over free constructors. The method is entirely implemented in the proverSPIKE. This system has solved interesting problems in a completely automatic way, that is, without interaction with the user and without ad hoc heuristics. It has also proved the challenging Gilbreath card trick, with only two easy lemmas.Preliminary versions of the results have been presented at the 13th International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, Chambéry (France), 1993 (Bouhoula and Rusinowith, 1993).  相似文献

The present work aims to investigate the effect adding Ag, Co, Ni, Cd and Pt to copper on ethanol dehydrogenation. The catalysts synthesized by deposition–precipitation method were characterized using various physicochemical methods such as N2 adsorption–desorption, TPR, SEM–EDX, XRD, XPS and TGA–DSC-MS. Catalytic evaluation results revealed that the predominant product of the reaction was acetaldehyde. Monometallic copper or mixed with Cd, Ag or Co show good catalytic performances. Adding nickel to copper improves the process conversion but reduces acetaldehyde selectivity, giving rise to methane in produced hydrogen. Pt-Cu/SiO2 catalyst guides the reaction towards diethyl ether. Time on stream tests performed during 12 h at 260 °C, showed that adding Cd to Cu enhances its stability by over 30% of conversion, this is explained by the reduction of copper crystallites sintering, which makes Cd-Cu/SiO2 a promising catalyst for the production of acetaldehyde by ethanol dehydrogenation.

In this work, RF MEMS continuous reversible variable inductor has been fabricated by using microelectronic technology and lamination process. We review, evaluate and compare this variable inductor with other work. The proposed inductor is a dual circular coil and has an inductance of few nH. The fundamental idea is to place a liquid droplet between the metal turns of a coil in order to modify the capacitive/resistive coupling between metal tracks and hence to change the stored magnetic energy. The SU-8 resin was used to realize the microfluidic channels and Au as metallic tracks. To prove the reversibility of the inductor, two cases were studied: filling and emptying of channels. The tuning range of the inductance is approximately 107 % at 1.6 GHz, making these devices very suitable as building blocks in many RF applications.  相似文献

The current work reports on the realization of movable micromachining devices using self-aligned single-mask fabrication process. Only dry etching process utilizing inductively coupled plasma reactive ion etching was used to release 3D micro structures from single crystal silicon substrate. No wet etching process is required to release the structures as is the case with silicon on insulator (SOI) wafers. Also the developed process does not require an SOI substrate and accordingly dispensing with the application of a wet etching step, thus yielding uniform structures without stiction. The optimized process was applied to realize thermally actuated microgrippers. The article presents the development of the fabrication process and demonstrates the operation of the fabricated device. The optimized process provides an avenue for low cost fabrication of movable micromachining devices without the use of complicated wet etching steps typically associated with SOI substrates.  相似文献
