Grid computing generally involves the aggregation of geographically distributed resources in the context of a particular application. As such resources can exist within different administrative domains, requirements on the communication network must also be taken into account when performing meta-scheduling, migration or monitoring of jobs. Similarly, coordinating efficient interaction between different domains should also be considered when performing such meta-scheduling of jobs. A strategy to perform peer-to-peer-inspired meta-scheduling in Grids is presented. This strategy has three main goals: (1) it takes the network characteristics into account when performing meta-scheduling; (2) communication and query referral between domains is considered, so that efficient meta-scheduling can be performed; and (3) the strategy demonstrates scalability, making it suitable for many scientific applications that require resources on a large scale. Simulation results are presented that demonstrate the usefulness of this approach, and it is compared with other proposals from literature.  相似文献

The reactivity of three cytotoxic trans‐PtII complexes bearing aliphatic amine ligands, with transferrin and single‐stranded oligonucleotides as DNA models, was investigated by ESI‐MS and the results obtained are discussed in comparison with cisplatin. Tandem MS studies provided additional information on the preferential Pt binding sites. To determine whether trans‐PtII complexes can migrate from a peptide to an oligonucleotide, transfer experiments were also performed using ESI‐MS, and competitive binding of the trans‐PtII complexes toward a model peptide and different oligonucleotides was also investigated. Significant differences in the reactivity of the trans complexes with respect to cisplatin were observed. In general, adduct formation with the selected peptide is favored for the trans compounds, whereas cisplatin shows a preference for oligonucleotides, especially if adjacent G–G residues are present. The results are discussed in relation to the possible mechanism of action of the trans‐PtII complexes.  相似文献

Xylene is the traditional diluent solvent for formulating epoxy/amine paints used in protective coatings and linings. Currently, it is under regulatory pressure because it is on the hazardous air pollutant (HAP) list and it is also a volatile organic compound (VOC). Ketones and acetate esters are powerful solvents, but their use is limited by their reaction with the amine curatives before paint application. Tert-butyl acetate (t-BAc) proposed as a VOC-exempt solvent, is a nonreactive, non-HAP solvent suitable for both the epoxy resin and amine curative sides of a two-component epoxy system. Molecular modeling predicts very low reactivity of the t-BAc ester functionality with amine nucleophiles as a result of steric hindrance. Long-term aging studies with amine curatives in t-BAc solutions confirm these theoretical results. Kinetics of the reaction of amines with t-BAc and its n-butyl acetate isomer support the view that steric hindrance plays a major role in amine solution stability. Oxidation resistance tests were carried out on HfB2-20 vol.% SiC prepared by spark plasma sintering. The dense samples were exposed from 1400 to 2000 °C in an ambient atmosphere for 1 h. For comparison, the same material was tested using an arc jet to simulate an atmospheric reentry environment. The oxidation properties of the samples were determined by measuring the weight gain per unit surface area and the thicknesses of the oxide scale. The oxide scale consists of a SiO2 outer layer, porous HfO2 layers, and an HfB2 layer depleted in SiC. A transition in HfO2 morphology from equixed to columnar and a decrease in SiO2 viscosity between 1800 and 1900 °C accompanied a rapid increase in weight gain and scale thickness.  相似文献

The present study evaluates the chemical composition and antimicrobial activity of the essential oils (EOs) of Mentha pulegium L., Juniperus phoenicea L. and Cyperus longus L. from Morocco. The composition of these species was analyzed by GC/MS and 84 components were identified. M. pulegium EO showed a great similarity with EOs coming from other regions, as pulegone, the major component, accounted for about 70% of the EO. The EO of J. phoenicea had as main components α-pinene (24.9%), β-phellandrene (24.4%) and α-terpinyl acetate (12.9%). The EO extracted from C. longus was remarkably rich in sesquiterpene hydrocarbons (83.2%), which included β-himachalene (46.6%), α-humulene (16.9%), and γ-himachalene (10.1%). The antimicrobial activity of these EOs has been evaluated against seven bacteria of significant importance for food hygiene. According to the results, M. pulegium showed the best bacteriostatic and bactericidal effect, followed by J. phoenicea and C. longus. So far as we know, this is the first report on the quantitative composition and biological activity of the essential oil from C. longus. The tested EOs showed a variable degree of antimicrobial activity being M. pulegium the most effective one.  相似文献

Governments are increasingly reliant on the reacquisition of water rights as a mechanism for recovering overexploited basins. Yet, serious concerns have recently been raised about the efficacy and operational dimensions of existing programs. Water buyback is typically implemented as the purchase of a fixed quantity of water rights from the agricultural sector at the price set by the Water Authority. This paper seeks to analyze whether the use of water buyback in its current form represents a sensible means of recovering overexploited basins. The results??which are particularly relevant to contexts characterised by poor enforcement regimes and widespread illegal water use??highlight the need for greater scrutiny of current programs and call for additional work to improve the design of reacquisition policies in the context of water resource management.  相似文献

There are several enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits in the market that have been proven to be useful for the determination of egg in foods. However, inconsistent results that are obtained when different kits are used make the selection of one kit over another very difficult. Two different approaches were used to help understand why results vary among kits. Different kits were used to analyze spiked egg material [NIST reference material (RM) 8445] in wheat flour (raw ingredients) and cookies containing egg as an ingredient baked for different periods of time (processed food). These results were compared with immunoblotting using conjugated antibodies from the commercial kits to determine the antibody specificity and sample extraction efficiency. ELISA results can be difficult to compare because reporting units differ among kits. Results from both ELISA and immunoblotting are in agreement regarding the decreased detection of proteins in baked cookie extracts. Moreover, immunoblotting showed that this reduction is due to reduced protein content in these extracts. However, a properly selected extraction solution may help improve the solubility of certain egg proteins in processed foods. Harmonization of the reporting unit system along with the use of a common reference material is recommended as the path forward in the standardization of detection methods for food allergens. This would assist the end user in making an informed decision regarding the selection of the most appropriate kit for his or her purpose.  相似文献

The rapid expansion of ethanol plants across the U.S. state of Iowa has fueled debate about the burdens and benefits of local (in-state investors) versus non-local ownership of biorefineries. Central to these concerns is the extent to which non-local, absentee owners might reap the benefits of the ethanol industry at the expense of local communities. A key argument within the rural development literature is that local ownership of firms has a positive effect on the long-term well-being and sustainability of the communities in which they are situated. This literature asserts that firms operate at different scales, with local firms embedded within local supply chains and institutions, and non-local firms embedded within national and international networks and institutions. Conversely, there is a growing body of work within the alternative agrifood systems literature that cautions against the ‘local trap’; the assumption that the local scale is inherently good and therefore advantageous. Despite this broader debate, the literature on local ownership and renewable energy remains limited. This paper addresses this gap by drawing on case study research of the community effects of ethanol plant ownership structure from the perspective of community leaders. My findings suggest that differences between the structure and effects of local versus non-local ownership of firms on communities are rather more ambiguous than the literature asserts. Therefore, assumptions about the benefits of local ownership may be overstated and concepts of ‘local’ and ‘non-local’ may be inadequate for considering firm outcomes on the civic welfare and socioeconomic well-being of a community.  相似文献

The work outlined here aims to build and examine contradiction measures on Atanassov intuitionistic fuzzy sets (A-IFS) that are defined in this particular case in finite universes. The axiomatic definition of contradiction measure in the A-IFS framework was given in [7]. A number of axioms formalizing the concept of continuity for the above measures were also given. In this paper, Section 1, which briefly discusses the preliminaries required to develop the work, is followed by a section analysing how the restriction of the universe of discourse to a finite set influences the continuity axioms. The following three sections look at three types of specific contradiction measures. In Section 3, continuous t-norms and fuzzy negations are used to construct a large family of measures. These measures satisfy different types of continuity, which are examined at length. Then, Sections 4 Contradiction measures from geometrical methods, 5 Contradiction measures in reference to the region of non- take up other families introduced in [8], [10], [9], proving that their behaviour with respect to continuity is better than it was in the earlier articles because the universes considered here are finite.  相似文献
