An electronics system has been assembled to measure frequency-dependent response functions of glass-forming liquids in the extremely viscous state approaching the glass transition. We determine response functions such as dielectric permittivity and shear and bulk moduli by measuring electrical impedances of liquid-filled transducers, and this technique requires frequency generators capable of producing signals that are reproducible over the span of several days or even several weeks. To this end, we have constructed a frequency generator that produces low-frequency (1 mHz-100 Hz) sinusoidal signals with voltages that are reproducible within 10 ppm. Two factors that partly account for this precision are that signals originate from voltages stored in a look-up table and that only coil-less filters are used in this unit, which significantly reduces fluctuations of output caused by changes of temperatures of circuits. This generator also includes a special triggering facility that makes it possible to measure up to 512 voltages per cycle that are spaced apart at uniform phase intervals. Fourier transformations of such data yield precise determinations of complex amplitudes of voltages and currents applied to a transducer, which ultimately allows us to determine electrical impedances of transducers with a reproducibility error that is only a few parts per hundred thousand. This equipment is used in tandem with a commercial LCR meter and/or impedance analyzer that give(s) impedance measurements at higher frequencies, up to 1 MHz. The experimental setup allows measurements of the transducer impedance over nine decades of frequency within a single run.  相似文献

Colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) are nanoscale building blocks for bottom‐up fabrication of semiconducting solids with tailorable properties beyond the possibilities of bulk materials. Achieving ordered, macroscopic crystal‐like assemblies has been in the focus of researchers for years, since it would allow exploitation of the quantum‐confinement‐based electronic properties with tunable dimensionality. Lead‐chalcogenide CQDs show especially strong tendencies to self‐organize into 2D superlattices with micrometer‐scale order, making the array fabrication fairly simple. However, most studies concentrate on the fundamentals of the assembly process, and none have investigated the electronic properties and their dependence on the nanoscale structure induced by different ligands. Here, it is discussed how different chemical treatments on the initial superlattices affect the nanostructure, the optical, and the electronic‐transport properties. Transistors with average two‐terminal electron mobilities of 13 cm2 V?1 s?1 and contactless mobility of 24 cm2 V?1 s?1 are obtained for small‐area superlattice field‐effect transistors. Such mobility values are the highest reported for CQD devices wherein the quantum confinement is substantially present and are comparable to those reported for heavy sintering. The considerable mobility with the simultaneous preservation of the optical bandgap displays the vast potential of colloidal QD superlattices for optoelectronic applications.  相似文献

The use of virtual worlds in the school is an extraordinary tool to engage the children in the process of e-learning. Although one can find many examples that describe the use of such a technology in teaching regular educational contents, very few examples replicate other classical outdoor educational activities such as a visit to a museum, including the remote interaction with the docents of the visited institution. In this work, the results of a study of the user experience of three groups of children within a flexible virtual space that connects schools and museums are described and evaluated. This integrated educational space not only includes the exploration of exhibition areas but also the telepresence talks on the part of museum personnel, simulations, educational work in the form of virtual quests, all within a multi-user virtual environment based on OpenSim and simultaneously accessible from the different institutions involved in the experiment. The results obtained could serve as a starting point for a future implementation of this platform for connecting educational institutions and museums across an entire city.  相似文献

This review provides a current summary of the literature concerning various aspects of phytic acid. These include data relative to its chemical structure and physicochemical properties, its occurrence in numerous cereals and legumes, and its role in plants. Electroactive polymer films of polyaniline, poly-o-toluidine and a composite of both were deposited on stainless steel and their performance as protective coatings against corrosion was evaluated. Open circuit potential and potentiodynamic studies of the polymer-coated stainless steel in a corrosive medium showed a significant shift in the corrosion potential towards more positive values. Mechanical characteristics of the films were evaluated by means of microhardness measurements, revealing nonelastic films in all cases and low hardness values that increased from polyaniline to poly-o-toluidine to the composite. The best results were obtained in the case of the polyaniline-o-toluidine composite.  相似文献

This paper presents a strategy to design two-player videogames which are able to adapt themselves to the level of the layers who are playing at each moment. The goal of the strategy is to allow the players enjoying the game in spite of their different levels. A first tennis videogame (based on the classic Pong) which implements this strategy has already been developed and evaluated through user studies. In the paper we first motivate this work and survey related work. Then we describe the general strategy and its application to the case of the tennis videogame. We also present the user studies carried out and analyze the interesting results.  相似文献

In this work, the possibility of finding newly formed Maillard reaction products produced as a result of the subcritical water extraction (SWE) conditions is explored. Simplified powdered glycation model systems were prepared mixing amino acid (Lys, Arg or Ala) and glucose in a molar ratio 1:4. Samples constituted by glucose or amino acids alone were also prepared as controls. SWE was carried out at room temperature, 100 °C and 200 °C and 100 bar of pressure for 20 min. Different assays were performed in order to determine the extent of glycation by analyzing the decrease of free amino groups and/or the formation of Maillard reaction products (early, advanced and end products). Namely, formation of early colorless Maillard reaction products, Amadori compounds, was detected by ESI-MS; advanced glycation end products (AGEs) were detected by measuring the fluorescence intensity (λex = 360 nm, λem = 460 nm) while end brown products were detected by reading the absorbance at 360 and 420 nm. Besides, the antioxidant capacity of the aqueous extracts was determined by using ABTS and ORACFL assays. Results obtained indicated the occurrence of the Maillard reaction under our specific extraction conditions. Early, advanced and end products were detected in the samples. Caramelization of sugar also occurred. As expected, the extent of the non-enzymatic browning depended on the intensity of the thermal treatment. Additionally, data on antioxidant activity suggested the formation of neoantioxidants. These compounds were predominantly formed at 200 °C. In conclusion, this report demonstrates the formation of antioxidant compounds in simplified glycation model systems under SWE conditions.  相似文献

To develop concentrating photovoltaic systems for building integration applications, two optical devices are proposed. The concentrators are based in stationary linear Fresnel lenses and secondary CPC. The moving focal area is ten times smaller than the Fresnel lens aperture. Concentrator characteristics are studied in detail: shadowing effect, placement of the focal area and optical concentration efficiency. The main contribution of this paper is the three-dimensional optical analysis of the non-imaging concentrating systems. In terms of solar radiation, photovoltaic moving modules placed in the focal area of stationary concentrators are compared with simply fixed photovoltaic modules. In favourable weather locations, the beam radiation incident on the concentrating modules would be a large percentage, more than 50%, of the global radiation received by the fixed photovoltaic devices.  相似文献
