Physical exercise is known to influence hormonal mediators of appetite, but the effect of short-term maximal intensity exercise on plasma levels of appetite hormones and cytokines has been little studied. We investigated the effect of a 30 s Wingate Test, followed by a postprandial period, on appetite sensations, food intake, and appetite hormones. Twenty-six physically active young males rated their subjective feelings of hunger, prospective food consumption, and fatigue on visual analogue scales at baseline, after exercise was completed, and during the postprandial period. Blood samples were obtained for the measurement of nesfatin-1, ghrelin, leptin, insulin, pancreatic polypeptide (PP), human growth factor (hGH) and cytokine interleukin-6 (IL-6), irisin and plasma lactate concentrations, at 30 min before exercise, immediately (210 s) after exercise, and 30 min following a meal and at corresponding times in control sedentary males without ad libitum meal intake, respectively. Appetite perceptions and food intake were decreased in response to exercise. Plasma levels of irisin, IL-6, lactate, nesfatin-1 and ghrelin was increased after exercise and then it was returned to postprandial/control period in both groups. A significant rise in plasma insulin, hGH and PP levels after exercise was observed while meal intake potentiated this response. In conclusion, an acute short-term fatiguing exercise can transiently suppress hunger sensations and food intake in humans. We postulate that this physiological response involves exercise-induced alterations in plasma hormones and the release of myokines such as irisin and IL-6, and supports the notion of existence of the skeletal muscle–brain–gut axis. Nevertheless, the detailed relationship between acute exercise releasing myokines, appetite sensations and impairment of this axis leading to several diseases should be further examined.  相似文献

Background: If menopause is really independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease is still under debate. We studied if ovariectomy in the model of insulin resistance causes cardiovascular changes, to what extent are these changes reversible by estradiol substitution and if they are accompanied by changes in other organs and tissues. Methods: Hereditary hypertriglyceridemic female rats were divided into three groups: ovariectomized at 8th week (n = 6), ovariectomized with 17-β estradiol substitution (n = 6), and the sham group (n = 5). The strain of abdominal aorta measured by ultrasound, expression of vascular genes, weight and content of myocardium and also non-cardiac parameters were analyzed. Results: After ovariectomy, the strain of abdominal aorta, expression of nitric oxide synthase in abdominal aorta, relative weight of myocardium and of the left ventricle and circulating interleukin-6 decreased; these changes were reversed by estradiol substitution. Interestingly, the content of triglycerides in myocardium did not change after ovariectomy, but significantly increased after estradiol substitution while adiposity index did not change after ovariectomy, but significantly decreased after estradiol substitution. Conclusion: Vascular and cardiac parameters under study differed in their response to ovariectomy and estradiol substitution. This indicates different effects of ovariectomy and estradiol on different cardiovascular but also extracardiac structures.  相似文献

CXCL16 is a chemotactic cytokine belonging to the α-chemokine subfamily. It plays a significant role in the progression of cancer, as well as the course of atherosclerosis, renal fibrosis, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Since there has been no review paper discussing the importance of this chemokine in various diseases, we have collected all available knowledge about CXCL16 in this review. In the first part of the paper, we discuss background information about CXCL16 and its receptor, CXCR6. Next, we focus on the importance of CXCL16 in a variety of diseases, with an emphasis on cancer. We discuss the role of CXCL16 in tumor cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and metastasis. Next, we describe the role of CXCL16 in the tumor microenvironment, including involvement in angiogenesis, and its significance in tumor-associated cells (cancer associated fibroblasts (CAF), microglia, tumor-associated macrophages (TAM), tumor-associated neutrophils (TAN), mesenchymal stem cells (MSC), myeloid suppressor cells (MDSC), and regulatory T cells (Treg)). Finally, we focus on the antitumor properties of CXCL16, which are mainly caused by natural killer T (NKT) cells. At the end of the article, we summarize the importance of CXCL16 in cancer therapy.  相似文献

The water environment determines the activity of biological processes. The role of such an environment interpreted in the form of an external field expressed by the 3D Gaussian distribution in the fuzzy oil drop model directs the folding process towards the generation of a centrally located hydrophobic core with the simultaneous exposure of polar residues on the surface. In addition to proteins soluble in the water environment, there is a significant group of membrane proteins that act as receptors or channels, including ion channels in particular. The change of the polar (water) environment into a highly hydrophobic (membrane) environment is quite radical, resulting in a different hydrophobicity distribution within the membrane protein. Modification of the notation of the force field expressing the presence of the hydrophobic environment has been proposed in this work. A modified fuzzy oil drop model with its adaptation to membrane proteins was used to interpret the structure of membrane proteins–mechanosensitive channel. The modified model was also used to describe the so-called negative cases—i.e., for water-soluble proteins with a clear distribution consistent with the fuzzy oil drop model.  相似文献

Release rate and degree of isomerization of pheromones with conjugated double bonds were studied in dispensers prepared from several rubber substrates. The substrates compared were made of rubber, cured with elemental sulfur or accelerators based on organic sulfur compounds or organic peroxides. Isomerization of the double bonds occurs immediately after impregnation of the substrate, and the degree of isomerization increases during field use and/or storage. The propensity of the isomers to isomerize corresponds to their proportion in the equilibrium mixture. AnE,Z isomer is isomerized faster than theE,E isomer, and finally a near-equilibrium mixture of the four isomers is present. Minimal isomerization was found in non-sulfur-cured substrates which are the material of choice.  相似文献

In 6 experiments, 12 male Wistar rats with cortico-basomedial amygdala damage (CBM) and 20 sham-operated controls were tested in several food-related situations. The CBM Ss showed a longer latency to eat than controls in a novel environment due to more pronounced exploration. In the competition for food, CBM Ss lost 85% of encounters with controls. Immediately after the contest, when allowed to eat singly, CBM Ss displayed a higher persistence of alimentary responses to an emptied cup than did controls, presumably because they experienced more losses in the food competition. Both groups were equally able to overcome obstacles on the way to food, which suggested similar alimentary motivation. The only direct indication of a lowered responsiveness to hunger in CBM Ss was 24-hr fasting-induced hypophagia. Results indicate the involvement of the cortico-basomedial amygdaloid region in the control of relations between alimentary and other motivations. In the present research, dense γ-TiAl based intermetallic samples were fabricated by reactive synthesis of fully dense elemental 50 at. pct Al-50 at. pct Ti powder blends. Two different processing routes were attempted: thermal explosion under pressure (combustion consolidation) and reactive hot pressing. In both approaches, relatively low processing or preheating temperatures (900 °C) were used. The entire procedure of thermal explosion under pressure could be performed in open air without noticeable oxidation damage to the final product. The application of a moderate external pressure (≤250 MPa) during synthesis was shown to be enough to accommodate the negative volume change associated with TiAl formation from the elemental components and, thereby, to ensure full density of the final product. Microstructure and phase composition of the materials obtained were characterized employing X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive analysis. It was found that at elevated temperatures(e.g., 900 °C), the equiatomic 50Al-50Ti alloy lies beyond the homogeneity range of the y-TiAl phase in the Ti-Al binary and contains, in addition to γ-TiAl, Al-rich Ti3Al. Mechanical properties of the materials synthesized were evaluated in compression tests at different temperatures and by microhardness measurements. Due to its very fine microstructure, the Ti-Al material synthesizedvia reactive hot pressing exhibited superplastic behavior at temperatures as low as 800 °C.
