Phosphoinositides (PIs) play important roles in the structure and function of the brain. Associations between PIs and the pathophysiology of schizophrenia have been studied. However, the significance of the PI metabolic pathway in the pathology of schizophrenia is unknown. We examined the expression of PI signaling-associated proteins in the postmortem brain of schizophrenia patients. Protein expression levels of phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate 5-kinase type-1 gamma (PIP5K1C), phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase alpha (PIK4CA, also known as PIK4A), phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted from chromosome 10 (PTEN), protein kinase B (Akt), and glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK3β) were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays and multiplex fluorescent bead-based immunoassays of the prefrontal cortex (PFC) of postmortem samples from 23 schizophrenia patients and 47 normal controls. We also examined the association between PIK4CA expression and its genetic variants in the same brain samples. PIK4CA expression was lower, whereas Akt expression was higher, in the PFC of schizophrenia patients than in that of controls; PIP5K1C, PTEN, and GSK3β expression was not different. No single-nucleotide polymorphism significantly affected protein expression. We identified molecules involved in the pathology of schizophrenia via this lipid metabolic pathway. These results suggest that PIK4CA is involved in the mechanism underlying the pathogenesis of schizophrenia and is a potential novel therapeutic target.  相似文献

A method to measure a small capacitance with its loss resistance using a set of transient current waveforms is proposed in this paper. The parameters are obtained from the time constants in the time domain. The method has high resistance to extraneous noise, because a time‐to‐frequency transformation, which is sensitive to noise, is not required. The transient current waveforms are obtained by a voltage or current source, a current transformer, and a waveform recorder. The measured capacitance by the proposed method is not affected by the capacitance of the voltage probe, because it is obtained without any voltage information. The sheath surge impedance of the current injection cable, which is indispensable for the transient measurement, is corrected. The application of the method has the advantage in that it allows the modeling of a fast transient of a power apparatus, comparing it with the steady‐state measurement using an impedance measuring instrument. The proposed method is applied to create an equivalent circuit between electrodes implanted into a piece of wood, and its reliability is confirmed by comparison between the measured and calculated results. Stray capacitances of a miniature circuit breaker are also measured, and the results show that the proposed method is applicable to equipment in power systems. © 2014 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. In this paper, we propose a novel method to extract keyframes from motion capture data. A hybrid approach, which combines a curve‐simplification algorithm with an initialization procedure including principal component analysis, is adopted. The developed method automatically extracts an appropriate number of keyframes at high speed without performance degradation. An azobenzene mesogen-substituted diacetylene (NADA) monolayer has been transferred onto the solid substrate by the traditional Langmuir–Blodgett (LB) method. Solid-state polymerization of NADA LB films can be sensitized in visible light region. In situ UV–vis absorption measurement enables us to study polymerization kinetics of NADA LB films. The polymerization process can be described as a first order rate equation and polymerization rate constants are characterized in detail. Furthermore, achiral NADA molecules can form chiral LB films through overcrowded packing of the azobenzene moiety.  相似文献

To obtain sound butt-joints of 5056 aluminum alloy rods, ultrasonic-assisted soldering was conducted using Zn-18Sn and Zn-60Sn alloys. Each solder foil was inserted between rods of 5056 aluminum alloy. Ultrasonic vibration was propagated to faying surfaces at soldering temperatures below the liquidus temperature of the solder alloys, and then the samples were air cooled to room temperature. The optimum vibration time at the soldering temperature must be more than 2 seconds to have complete wetting and less than 4 seconds to avoid excessive dissolution of the 5056 alloy. The 5056 alloy joints soldered using quasi-melting. Zn-Sn alloys showed greater strength than the joints soldered at the temperatures over its respective liquidus temperature. As the soldering temperature was increased, the increased formation of the intermetallic compound Mg2Sn or phases containing Mg generated by dissolution of 5056 into the solder layer decreased the joint strength. Ultrasonic-assisted soldering at an optimum temperature between solidus and liquidus of the Zn-Sn alloys is an important consideration for producing sound joints with sufficient strength.  相似文献

In this paper we discuss our simulation and empirical study of a golf swing motion controller for a two-link golf swing robot. We distinguish two variants of the whole golf swing termed as hitting problem and stopping problem. For the hitting problem arising from backswing and downswing, we map the task into the output of a target dynamic system—a harmonic oscillator—under energy control. For the stopping problem that arises from follow-through, we propose a Proportional plus Gravity and Coupling Torque Compensation (PGCTC) feedback controller. Preliminary simulation study shows the proposed controllers solve the hitting problem and the stopping problem respectively. The controllers are implemented on a physical robot. Experimental results indicate the robot is able to perform desired golf swing-backswing, downswing, and follow-through. We also give a preliminary analysis on the proposed method to understand its merits and weaknesses.  相似文献

Biofouling control is important for effective process of membrane bioreactor (MBR). In this study, phenomena of biofouling for immersed type extended aeration MBR with two different anti-fouling aeration intensities were studied through a laboratory set up. The objectives of this study were (a) to observe biofouling phenomena of MBR that operates under different anti-fouling bubbling intensity, and simultaneously monitors performance of the MBR in organic carbon and nutrients removal; (b) to compare effectiveness of detergent and detergent-enzyme cleaning solutions in recovering biofouled membranes that operated in the extended aeration MBR. For MBR, which operated under continuous anti-fouling aeration, deposition and accumulation of suspended biomass on membrane surface were prohibited. However, flux loss was inescapable that biofilm layer was the main problem. Membrane cleaning was successfully carried out with detergent-enzyme mixture solutions and its effectiveness was compared with result from cleaning with just detergent solution.  相似文献

A compact and low-polarization crosstalk 1×2 PANDA fiber switch has been developed by precisely aligning the principal axes between the facing fibers. It exhibits an insertion loss of 0.5 dB, a return loss of 42 dB, polarization crosstalk of -30 dB, and a driving power of 9 mW. OBJECTIVE: To explore whether there are different disease patterns of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in women and men. METHODS: We studied 55 male case patients and 110 female control patients who developed RA between 1970 and 1985 and who resided and received medical care in Olmsted County, Minnesota, for at least 10 years after the diagnosis of RA. Case and control patients were matched for the date of first diagnosis. The pattern and extent of joint involvement, the frequency of joint surgeries, and the presence and type of extraarticular manifestations were determined by retrospective chart review. RESULTS: Incidence rates in women were variable and age dependent, whereas the risk in men older than 36 years was constant over their lifetime. Erosive disease was more frequent in men than in women (72% versus 55%, respectively; P < 0.05) and tended to occur earlier (47% versus 31% for erosive disease within the first 4 years of RA). Although male sex was correlated with a higher risk of bony erosions and an accelerated course of RA, structural consequences of joint destruction were more pronounced in women. Joint surgery was performed more frequently in women (50%) than in men (27%) (P = 0.01). In particular, the frequencies of arthroplasties and arthrodeses of hand and foot joints were different (34 procedures in women versus 1 procedure in men; P < 0.001). Sex influenced the risk as well as the pattern of organ involvement in RA. Nodules and rheumatoid lung disease were typical manifestations in men (P = 0.001 and P < 0.001, respectively), whereas women typically developed sicca syndrome (P = 0.05). Despite differences in disease aggressiveness and disease pattern, there was little difference in the medical therapy in the men compared with the women. CONCLUSION: RA is a heterogeneous disease with variations in phenotype. Sex-associated factors influence disease severity as well as disease pattern. Because sex-related effects influence treatment goals, treatment responses, and side effects, they should be considered in clinical study design and analysis as well as in the treatment decisions for individual patients with RA.  相似文献
